On Your Ships (Marks) · 10:31pm Apr 9th, 2016
Well, it's not really a review per se, but below the break are some thoughts on the episode, and of course, some ships to set sail.
There are good CMC episodes and there are bad CMC episodes, and then there's this one.
I do have some issues with this episode, but it wasn't all bad.
What I really liked was the song. I can identify with Apple Boom so much here. When you become so invested in something, it can be hard to move on or take the next step into the unknown; and that's basically what Apple Bloom feared. It's also nice to see them perusing their own interests and not keeping them as one character.
Was that song a reference to On My Own from Les Misérables? They had similar themes of moving on or letting go...
Unfortunately, the execution is pretty weak. She did go a little too overboard, and the whole situation was resolved pretty quickly (runtime could be the issue). Also that intro with them going into trances while staring at their butts.
Over all it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It had potential to be more heartfelt and emotionally impactful, I think.
And some screen caps becuase... ponies.
Octoberfest ponies! "Ja wir trinken Bier, und dann werden wir bergsteigen gehen!"
Scootaloo and her steed, Apple Bloom.
Now kiss!
I don't mind some Scootabloom now and then.
I have got to get around to seeing this episode, long with the other season six ones that have already aired. Is it up on YouTube, just our of curiousity?
3859678 Yeah, that's where I've been watching them.
3859741 Thanks, needed to know this.
And Scoots is all, "Not now Applebloom, Sweetie is right there."
But yeah I kind of had the same problems with the episode too. Also at one point, Bloom reminded me of Twilight from Lesson Zero.
3859995 Yeah I got some of that Lesson Zero vibe in there too.
