Season premieres, writers just gotta love, gotta hate them. Gotta love them cause it means a great show is still up and kicking. Gotta hate them because you never know when they will drop something into the cannon that will completely wreck your story. The latter is a case for me.

With the birth of.....Flurry Heart, and the revelation that she is the first alicorn birth Equestria has ever seen, large sections of my story The Darkness Returns have been rendered null and void. Before the season premiere, I assumed that despite their appearance out of nowhere in Equestrian history, Celestia and Luna had parents. However, as said above, Flurry Heart appears to be the only naturally born Alicorn in Equestria.

This new knowledge has forced me to choose an action out of several choices: Do an overhaul on the story to make it match up with the current cannon, cancel the story, ignore the update and break cannon, or add and Alternate Universe tag. None of the options are that appealing, but given how my story already breaks continuity with my version of Celestia's parents, I've decided to go with the lesser of the evils. As such, my story now takes place in an alternate reality in order to have an over simplistic answer to cover any continuity errors my fic now has.
