Friendship is Merchandising and Spoiler for S6E3 – The Gift of Maud · 8:44pm Apr 4th, 2016
If you haven't seen this weekend's MLP episode and don't want to be spoiled, beware!
Tale Weaver pointed out something rather amusing this morning. Hasbro has this stupid toy swan boat they've been shoving down our throats in endless commercials, right? We were looking for it and, big surprise, they only show it the actual episode for a FEW SECONDS.
And worse, Pinkie WASN'T IN IT!
It isn't like it's the first time they've done this, but if someone gets excited by a toy and wants to see it in the actual episode, heh, forget it.
Gee, thanks, Hasbro. Their attitude?
U Mad?
Get fuckin' over ourselves. *ugh!*
Don't forget, it's not Hasbro who controls how the toy is showed in the cartoon it's DHX, from what I understand, Hasbro just tells them to somehow work a toy into an episode but leaves it up to DHX how they do it and as you noted before, DHX tends not to focus too much on the toys at all unless they got no other choice, like Twilight's castle (due to her living there) and the Friendship Express train (due to it being the main mode of transport)
What I've been finding though the most frustrating is people complaining about Rarity not sewing Pinkie a pouch to give to Maud, even going so far to call her a bad friend because of it. Um hello maybe Pinkie didn't want her to sew the pouch? Maybe Pinkie feels that since Rarity is always sewing for others, she doesn't want to bother her about sewing this thing for her that she thought she could just easily buy? Rarity's passion is making clothes yes and she probably would if she asked, but even she probably wants a break every now and then, I work 8 hours a day in a warehouse moving stuff around, heavy things, I like it, it's my favorite kind of job, but that doesn't stop me from glaring at people who want me to help them move stuff off hours purely on bases that they happen to know I'm used to it. Sometimes I want a break from what I like to do.
Eh sorry, didn't mean to off like that. This just really bugs me because I loved Rarity in this episode, she showed in the episode that she truly is the element of generosity even if she didn't just insta killed the plot by sewing that stupid pouch.

Yeah, darn that corporate machine! It's hard to keep up with who orders all that plastic junk for us from China, y'know?
Sheesh, really? As Tale Weaver pointed out to me when I read him your comment, Pinkie Pie didn't HAVE the supplies with her at the time to make it 'cause she only told her while they were in Manehatten and YES, just because a friend does a thing, don't go asking them for it on their off hours. Chances are it's the LAST THING they want to do after doing it 8 hours a day. I wish people would THINK BEFORE THEY OPEN THEIR TRAPS *ugh*
It was a cute episode. I found it cathartic to watch after coming home from pulling FIVE STRAIGHT DAYS of 12-hour shifts in my job, and after dealing with a terminal patient all that time, that's valuable!
Don't sweat it, Askre! Sometimes that's how we find out what our friends like. You don't make a habit of it, so no biggie
