The Living Legend of World War II is back in Action!
Anyone that knows me well enough will know that I am a huge Captain America fan. He has been my favorite hero for years, and if you look at my profile picture and my name you can see how much of a fan I am. Everything about Captain America is amazing to me, he is the ideal person to be and you got to love he is just the peek of human potential and the only thing super about him is his will and determination!
Now not to go too long winded, I have not been a fan of the Sam Wilson Captain America.
There are just a lot of things that bug me about Sam Wilson's Captain America, I have never been a fan of the costume for it felt lazy in a lot of parts. It looks like the Super Soldier uniform Cap used to wear when Bucky was being Captain America and Steve Rogers was running with the Secret Avengers. They keep trying to bring this costume back, and I have never been a fan of it. They didn't do a great job of blending the Falcon's costume with Cap's costume and it looks really poor; I mean I feel like the Punsiher's Captain America uniform was a great combination, and I hate the artist who did that costume (except the Ultimate universe's take on it, and it looked amazing!)
The real thing that irked me about the Sam Wilson Captain America was how it has not stayed true to the Falcon. They seemed to have forgotten Falcon's history and completely redid his personality, morals, and even fighting style. The Falcon used to have a gun on him, used Redwing (his pet hawk), and a lot of the tactics in earlier Captain America comics back in the 2000's. With the new series, they seem to try to make him PC as possible and very left wing. There are lot of jokes about him being called Captain Socialist and that is never a good thing. Why? Just because it does not fit with what Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson has fought for in the past, they were against government control of the super humans, that to be a hero you have to tell the government your secret identity and then the place you on a team. With Civil War 2 going on (horrible... horrible comic) they are taking everything that this character was, and making him not him. I don't know, what they have done to Sam Wilson is horrible. I really feel that they don't know who they are writing for.
But lets get back to Captain America Steve Rogers, and his new look!
I am loving this new costume! My only real complaint is the brown in it, just feels like its throwing the whole costume off, then again I can't draw or have any fashion sense. Jeans with either a hoodie or flannel shirt looks good to me! Anyway, I do like the look of this costume, it looks a lot of like classic Cap from the 40's with the shield to boot! I have no idea how he is going to do his famous shield toss, but it looks like it has an Vibranium energy blade on the edge of it and from what i read he can split it into two pieces and fight with it on either arm. Not sure what the shield is going to be made out of, but since Captain America is close friends with Black Panther I hope is its Vibranium just because that has always been a good match for Steve Rogers.
I am looking forward to this new series of comics, especially with that cover image showing Captain America Steve Rogers, Agent 13, Captain America (Sam Wilson) and... Bucky?! Holy crap Bucky is back again... but he looks to have long hair again. I hate the long hair look, go get a haircut you hippie! You grew up in the 40's!
Anyway, that is my little rant about the new Captain America and looking forward to see the Living Legend of World War II back in action!
