Apparently, she has Pinkie's powers. Just not her personality.
Don't believe me? Quite aside from the usual Boulder weirdness that makes me think that Boulder is actually alive and sapient (and in my terms, a local node of the Paradise Entity -- just like Gummy, Maud can apparently do the exact same quiet-teleport thing that Pinkie does a lot. Note what happens in S603 -- twice when first Rarity and then the seedy street deal guy try to avoid her. She appears from the other direction.
This surprisingly reinforces my idea that Pinkie and Maud are full sisters (Daughters of Paradise) whie Limestone and Marble are the only two Pie Sisters actually sired by Igneous Rock. Even though, of course, all four Pie Sisters (five in my own canon, but Claire, Pinkie's other full sister, is as always the Least Noticable Pie Sister, despite her size and multi-headedness) regard Igneous as "father" in their hearts).
She also seems to have unusual senses, including a locator-sense, probably some sort of precognitive worldline awareness like Pinkie, and (of course) unusual perceptions of rocks. Also note in "Hearthbreakers" where she deliberately pretends to be have difficulty getting Holder's Boulder back up the hill, probably to set up a better outcome for her family vis-a-vis the Apples. She's every bit as manipulative as Pinkie Pie, just subtler about it.
I figured the Sense was hereditary, but the teleportation took me by surprise. Even more surprising was Rarity's uncanny imitation of Pinkie, complete with pinball impression. Sadly, that seemed to discombabulate her somewhat, given the later impatience and logorrhea. Emulating forces like Pinkie is not to be done lightly.
It's interesting that Maud calls her perception the Maud Sense. If it runs in the family, wouldn't it be the Pie Sense? How does the Maud Sense differ from the Pinkie Sense? Can Maud call it up at will, instead of waiting for a premonitory twitch to strike?
Boulder is definitely Guppy's counterpart. Have those two formally met? They must have a lot to talk about.
I like the fact Maud now is friends with Rarity of all ponies. We as an audience actually saw her get first up shocked, then upset, determined/angry, and then happy and relived once she found out about Pinkie trading away her cannon.
Funnily Pinkie and Rarity also a different points pulled on each others elements, with Pinkie giving the utmost of herself ti make someone else happy, and Rarity trying to help both Maud and Pinkie find joy; even to a point of bouncing around like a pinball.
I do wonder however, was Rarity bored of the story how Maud found/met Boulder, or just how Maud told it. It may have actuality been kinda of exciting.
Maud Pie's ESP clearly works differently from Pinkie Pie's IMHO.
I imagine the sixth sense of the others also express themselves differently.
