Tears of Gaia delays · 10:52am Aug 28th, 2012
Hey everypony.
Just a quick blog post to say that the next chapter of Tears of Gaia may be a bit of a while coming. Y'see, I'm trying to get it on EqD, and I just got back some feedback from the pre-readers. It would seem there is quite a bit of editing to be done. Nothing major, just, and I quote:
- Punctuation mis-use (semicolons)
- Run-on sentences
- Inconsistent formating/paragraph separation
- Fragmented sentence construction (without due cause)
- Repetive phrasing
- Awkward internal narration and inconsistent narrative voice
So quite a bit, but nothing I can't do with a good couple run throughs with a fine-toothed comb. I'm going through it currently and making the necessary edits, so you might notice little changes here and there. But to keep my workload down and keep everything simple, I won't be publishing a new chapter until the story makes it onto EqD or is permanently rejected after 3 strikes (I'm on strike 1, so I need to tread carefully), whichever result I end up with.
Also, if anypony would be willing to help with the editing or proof-reading, drop me a message. It would just be good to get a third-party opinion on this.
Redback signing out.
I wonder who these pre readers at EQD even are, I mean what makes them so qualified to judge other peoples written work?
Are they professors in English language? Famous authors? Writers of popular FiM fanfiction? Or random guys who were chosen one day and decided that "my opinion is more important then yours"?
433261 I assume that they are people who have somehow proven that they have some expertise in writing: College education in literature and writing, some sort of test to prove themselves worthy, or possibly some past experience in writing. From my interactions with them on both Tears of Gaia and previous stories, it looks like it.

Do they have to present some kind of proof of their education before they can be pre-readers? Is it like a job they get paid for?
But if they are tested...who does the testing? Someone even more qualified then the pre-readers?
Man...what a mystery! I guess they know what they are doing but still...I'm curious.
I just saw this story on EQD I guess you made it!
602919 Oh yeah, it's been up there for quite a while now. Still getting overshadowed by all the other more established stories though. Ah well, once book 1 is finished and I dive completely into the story, things should have picked up by then.
