I'm not a writer, so output is slow. But it has been judged adequate, so that's good for something, eh? ;)

    Writing Output Style

Just in case it's not clear, I don't have editors or pre-readers or anything like that. So I am posting the chapters after I write them, with just the first pass review done.

    Not forgotten

I've not forgotten you. Next update is half done. ;)

Unfortunately this story wasn't voted to top of my todo list, so I'm just working on it when I need distraction ;)

    Apologies for lack of updates

I have had a hard time fitting writing into my schedule.

But, I took a vacation block next month, and it's my goal to use most of that time to sit in a coffee shop and write bad MLP fanfic. Wish me luck! ;)

    Finding time

The challenge has been actually finding time to write - sorry about that. ;) Will get back to it soon.

    No promises of velocity...

Here's the first chapter. I don't expect this story to be anywhere near the length of the first one, but maybe. I see it as a series of shorter stories. The important bit is unlike the first book, all the major plot points of this one are written down.

No promises on speed, but hey, comments are motivating ;)

Chapter 26 - Seize the Day

As Sunset and Luna poured over the spell from Luna's diary, Sunset pointed out one section of the arcane markings.

"You see, as soon as I saw this part, I knew exactly how everything worked. It's a major mistake, and frankly, Princess, I'm surprised you did it."

"Yes, I see it now. You really are a very clever unicorn, Sunset Shimmer."

Sunset looked into Luna's eyes, a smile breaking across her face. "That's what I've been trying to TELL everypony! It's wonderful to finally hear somepony say it."

Luna smiled back, and tilted her head. "It's a shame you're a traitor to the crown and all. You have really got a lovely mane. I mean really. The moonlight just makes it glow."

Sunset dipped her head shyly, then looked back. "And you have lovely eyes, Princess Luna." She leaned in closer. "It was worth everything just to get to see them this close."

Luna leaned closer as well, and parted her lips. Sunset shivered with anticipation, but the moment was interrupted by a loud clattering of hooves landing on the balcony. Luna snapped to attention as Stratosphere entered, leading a trio of pegasi who were surrounding a subdued-looking Celestia.

"Yo, your highness," called Stratosphere, bowing awkwardly. "We found this one setting matchbooks on fire outside the castle. She confessed and we brought her to you, but now what?"

Luna looked up to Celestia, her eyes still misty with the heat of the moment. "Leave her here. I will deal with her myself."

Stratosphere nodded and waved off the unnamed pegasi, then noticed Sunset and waved awkwardly. Sunset blinked, and waved back.

"So, sister," began Luna. "Settings fires? What do you have to say for yourself?"

"I'm sorry," replied Celestia.

"And ignoring me, and banishing me to the moon, and beating me up?"

"I'm sorry for that too." Celestia raised her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "That's all I ever had to say, wasn't it? Why are ponies so bad at communication?"

Luna's heart melted, and she walked to Celestia and nuzzled under her chin. "Hush, now, dear sister. I forgive you. Let's start over."

Celestia wrapped her wings around Luna as Stratosphere sidled towards Sunset, somewhat like a used-cart salespony. "Wow," he commented. "I'm sure glad that's over. Are you okay, Sunny?"

Sunset nodded, slowly. "I'm okay," she replied. "But my name's Sunset."

Stratosphere mopped his brow nervously, then crouched down on one bended knee. "I know," he replied. With his wings he brought forth a small box, opening it to reveal an outrageously simple gold band. "Sunny Sweetheart," he began. "Will you marry me?"

"No," replied Sunset. "And my name's Sunset."

Stratosphere leaned closer, making his eyes big and sad. "Please, Sunny?"

"Oh very well," replied Sunset. "Now that you mention it, I want to retire in the capital and have lots of fillies."

Stratosphere leapt into the air and dove back down, embracing Sunset tightly. "You've made me the happiest pony in this room!"

"Don't count on that," replied Celestia, kissing Luna's forehead.

At that point the missing door to the room slammed open and a blue unicorn with a hat and cape barged in, shouting. "THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE DEMANDS TO KNOW WHY SHE KEEPS BEING BROUGHT TO CANTERLOT AND THEN TOLD TO LEAVE!"

Ulfrid turned to look at her, and bowed deeply. "I serve," he replied.

Trixie looked around the room, and frowned. She shouted again, "WHY IN THE HAY IS EVERYPONY HUGGING??"

"Shh!" admonished Sunset, cradling a small bundle in her hooves. "You'll wake the baby!" Stratosphere smiled over Sunset's shoulder at the child, then cast his own silencing frown at Trixie.

Trixie shook her head, astonished. "HOW THE HOOF DO YOU HAVE A CHILD ALREADY??"

The other five in the room turned to her again and simultaneously made a shushing sound, at which point Trixie backed down. Then she noticed the book lying awkwardly open in the middle of the floor.

"Hello," she said, much more quietly than before. "What's this? Trixie can learn all of Princess Luna's deepest secrets, like what color eyeshadow she is actually wearing!"

Trixie flipped through the book, looking bored until she came back to the spell pages that she had initially ignored, because it makes the sentence longer that way. "Well, well, well," she said. After reading a little further she cackled. "HAH! NOW TRIXIE WILL..."

She was interrupted by the room shushing her loudly again, and continued in a whisper. "...now Trixie will finally get all that she deserves."

She lit her horn and fed the magic patterns through it, caressing and fondling the warmth of her innate magical power, shaping it as she drew in streamers of magic from beyond. Her body glowed as she raised into the air, a shimmering circle of power resembling a purple moon surrounding her and growing, until at last it exploded in a shimmer of sparks, and Trixie hovered there, transformed.

Her coat was a much deeper blue, and her cutie mark glowed faintly. Her eyes had taken on a green tint and her pupils narrowed like that of a reptile. Most stunningly, her mane and tail had transformed into a shifting plasma, striped like Celestia's but with only the white and azure of Trixie's hair color.

"IT WORKED!! NOW, TRIXIE RULES!!"

The room started to shush her again, but froze when they realized they hadn't been paying attention. Trixie shook her head.

"Oh, hush yourselves." She used her new power to create a daycare center, and teleported Sunset, Stratosphere, and baby Machina to it. "There."

"Wait," said Luna, struggling to untangle herself from Celestia's embrace of wings, hooves and neck. "No mere unicorn could have cast my spell!"

"Trixie is no mere unicorn," she explained.

"But where did you get the power?" persisted Celestia.

"Trixie has many fans!"

Celestia and Luna looked at each other. "That makes sense," said Luna.

"I suppose," replied Celestia. "Shall we, then?"

Luna nodded, and the two of them awkwardly took flight. "It's all yours, Trixie. The staff gets paid every other Friday and we do special dinners twice a year." They flew out of the room.

Suddenly Sterling Honor burst into the room. "Your Highness!" he exclaimed. "I heard a strange laugh!"

"You are too late, Captain, Trixie rules Equestria now."

Sterling narrowed his eyes, then looked around the room. Ulfrid nodded as their eyes met.

"Can I take out the wolf, then, Ma'am?"

Ulfrid grunted. "I was just leaving anyway. I only serve the rightful leaders." He stood and walked from the room.

Sterling made an amused sound, then bowed to Trixie. "Is there anything you need, your Highness?"

"Trixie demands an oat and hay smoothie, with extra hay."

Sterling blinked. "But the nearest shop is all the way in Ponyville."

"Trixie does NOT repeat herself, Captain."

Sterling bowed again, then pondered. "I've been wanting to take the troop on a fifty mile run... this makes a good excuse. I'll take the entire guard."

Trixie waved a hoof. "Off with you, then. Trixie has had a difficult day."

Sterling ran down the stairs as Trixie walked to the balcony, looking over the darkened land. She frowned, and then squinted. "Why the hay is it so dark?" she mused, looking up.

That was when she noticed that the moon was gone, and all but a few straggling stars had left their posts.

"Oh, horsefeathers."

No Sun. No Moon. Then she had an idea. She squinted and strained her enhanced magic, and then there was a loud eruption in the sky, and then another, followed by a bright flash. The sequence accelerated, and when Trixie opened her eyes again the entire celestial sphere was filled with her trademarked fireworks, casting a strobe-like glow over the entire Kingdom.

"Ah, that's better. Trixie's finale will light these lands. Forever."

--- Happy ending!! Everypony wins!! ---
