Minor Issue While Thinking of a Sequel · 11:14pm Mar 29th, 2016
So I was planning to do a sequel to Sweetie Belle's Sweet Birthday, but then I read Fimfiction's policy on copyrighted song lyrics which play a role in my story idea. I still plan on doing it later (one way or another), but it does kind of bum me out knowing I might actually have to write my own lyrics again. I do I feel I can do it but still. I'll try my best to try convey the spirit of the songs. However, that story will have to wait for a while. I've got a few stories I'm working on already, and I got an Abstract Algebra test this week (Ugh. Worse class I've taken. Wish me luck.), but the sequel will come. It's certainly up there on my list of story ideas (Really, I have an idea list. I bought it so I wouldn't forget any as easily. Really gotta thank my friend for that.).
Oh yeah, Spring is finally here. Have a good one!
Well from what I have learn is that you can have songs in other chapters besides the first one. Or you could write around the song and work it in there's one called Baby it Cold Outside and it does bring up the lyrics but the song never plays.
3835549 That does sound like that would allow me, but I still have to make sure. I don't want to run into any trouble while I still have stories to write.
3835558 Well I'll be looking forward to it, I got away with it in my first few stories. But I don't use songs in my stories anymore, I use song titles but that's about it.
3835572 I'll be working in out soon. Hopefully, there won't be any problems.
Some people post links to song videos.
Then, there's such thing as a parody. If you replace most words, but keep the same meter, the song will stay recognizable, but no longer copyrighted. I've never seen it here, but rules don't forbid that. Won't work for a non-comedic story, though.
3848808 Putting links to the songs might be a good idea, but I feel it could also take away from the reading. Then again, posting lyrics of songs without hearing the actual track takes away from the song. It's something I'll have to play with.
