Dramatic Reading: "The Monster" by Lester del Rey · 3:24am Mar 28th, 2016

Those who follow me may be aware I have a problem: I am compelled to try as many different skills as possible, despite knowing I will be bad at most of them. One could say my personal quest is to be a Master of None or Jack of all Trades. Even if the result is lackluster, I find trying new skills and hobbies to be interesting.

For my latest experimental endeavor, I have started a youtube channel. A lot of the content so far is game footage/Let's Plays: it's easy to get footage of and helps practice things like multitasking and voice projection.

My latest video is the one I want to plug here, though. As the title may give away, I did a dramatic reading. I chose one of my favorite science fiction stories of all time: "The Monster" by Lester del Rey. It is one of those science fiction stories that follows the convention of early scifi, but does so in an atmospheric and engaging way, capping off with a great philosophical point. I felt compelled to make a reading of it.

Even if you aren't interested in hearing me attempt a new medium, then I would still highly recommend the story. For those who are interested, however, I present "The Monster" by Lester del Rey, as read by cleverpun.

Due to the (very) low quality of my audio equipment, you may need to increase the volume for best results. As always, comments and constructive criticism are welcome.

Master of None or Jack of all Trades

A Jack of all trades is better than a Master of one. is the full thing.
A lot of those kinds of lines get shortened and their original meaning is fucked up.
Like, curiosity killed the cat; satisfaction brought it back from "curiosity killed the cat"
"Blood is thicker than water" actually means the reverse of how it's used; Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb.
