WHERE'S THE NEW CHAPTERS? WHAT HAPPENED? WHY DON'T YOU SAY ANYTHING?
I'll try and be brief, but lets face it, I either ramble on into monotony, or end up being so lacking for detail that everyone scratches their head in confusion.
2016 hasn't been an easy year so far, and we're only rounding out the first quarter. There's been worse, but that's not what this comes down to. Basically, my attention was completely drawn away from MLP for a long while to Star Wars, where I went on one of my massive tangents in exploring different character ideas inspired by the elements, the sort that wouldn't work for this source material.
I burned myself out on it after 12 and a half chapters. Took a while to realize that plotlines were divering from each other drastically in pace, leading to a big mess that has to be cut and redone from the ground up. Not fun.
Other issue is that I jumped the gun way too hard with the chapter update. I had the ending arc in mind for so long, but finally coming around to putting it to words is so often completely different from how one imagines it. What was going to be a tense build-up towards the ending turned into a drawl of introductions for characters that have entered very late into the story technically, and dragged the pacing to a complete halt. I felt like I was drowning in it all just reading back through the mess.
It's pretty clear I can't go back to doing updates when they're finished. Writing out the entire story and then posting on schedule takes a lot longer, but at least that way everyone knows there's a very good 90% chance they will get the next chapter that coming Monday, unless of course I forget or find myself completely unable to update. Maybe that'll get fixed eventually, who knows.
Chances are I'll pick up new ideas that inspire some new approaches during Season 6, and once I've pulled through the latest bout of mental illnesses. This time I will make sure it is actually done before rounding it off to put an end to the false starts for good.
So... The Heaviest Burden?
