Rumble's Big Day, or Breaking My Own Policy. · 8:06am Mar 18th, 2016
Little PSA for those whom it may concern.
With the new Season (and the personal radio silence) starting in a few days, I'm going to try and publish the promised Rumble 'episodes' a little earlier than intended. Right now the first story is mostly done, it can probably do with some finishing touches after I watch Hurricane Fluttershy again. The second one is... nearing completion, but it's turned out to be a big mess. I don't know if I can set it up to make sense enough for a third one. The song, especially, is getting strange (initially there were going to be two, now it's only one, and it's feeling a bit tacked on, but hopefully it'll work out). Normally I'd finish all three before publishing the first, but that would mean... stuff. Bad stuff.
Basically, I want to at least publish the first one before the new Season hits, and get the second one out to pre-empt any new canon that might pop up (it involves pegasus flight, as well as a look at Diamond Tiara's reformation, with some added consequences for her social life).
Expect Rumble's Big Day sometime next week, and its sequel a week, maybe a week and a half after that. The third one, still need to start on. If nothing else, it'll be a good test to see if my Synfig set-ups are up to snuff for making cover art.
In the meantime, here's the short description and long description for the story, pending alterations.
Apple Bloom decides to ask Rumble why he can fly and Scootaloo can't. She doesn't like the answer.
After another session of failed flight, Scootaloo and her friends decide to do some research. The girls check out the archives of the Foal Free Press, and Apple Bloom finds herself interviewing Ponyville's strongest young flyer: Rumble, Thunderlane's little brother.
More specifically, how he trained for Ponyville's turn at tornado duty.
Turns out being a little ace ain't all it's cracked up to be.
