For Civil War and St. Patrick's Day fans... · 11:34pm Mar 17th, 2016
Many in America and in other countries today, especially in Ireland (or Eire, if you live there) celebrate their Irish heritage. While I have no Irish blood myself (at least none that I know of), I hold the Irishmen of the Civil War with respect, including the men of the Union Irish Brigade and Confederate General Patrick Cleburne. In the spirit of respecting Irish who have fought in many wars over the centuries, as well as celebrating Irish culture, I'd like to put a few songs here, as well as a link regarding the origins of the holiday itself.
Please, no arguments over the [Civil] War (or other conflicts in the videos below); as a student of history, I thought it would be interesting to put these here on a holiday where Irish heritage was celebrated. Who was right and who was wrong (in spite of the enflamed passions of the singers and song writers) is not up for discussion here. This is to bring a little Irish memory (as well as a decently placed lesson of history, which is my favorite topic outside of faith :)) on a day when the above-mentioned heritage is celebrated.
I hope you all enjoy today, but please be careful not to let things get out of hand. Cheers!
Whelp, looks like I got another soul say 'cheers' at the end of their blogs.
