D&D: why the new OGL is really bad

There's some controversy right now about the new OGL (Open Gaming License) published by Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't talk about D&D here a lot, since I know it's not relevant to Fimfiction, but I think it's worth getting this news out. Also they're owned by Hasbro, the same company that own MLP, so it's worth knowing what they're up to.

I'm moderately good as an editor and probably willing to help you out. Here are some terms and conditions.

1. I'm best at the fine detail of punctuation and grammar, than at general things like characterisation and story structure. That means you should call on me at the late stages, after you've already had other people help to nail down all that fuzzy stuff.

2. You should use Google Docs. Really, it's the best way of editing a story. Otherwise you just aren't taking the process seriously.

3. I prefer to educate you rather than just fixing things for you, so whenever possible I like to work in suggestions mode. You'll need to approve each change, or reject it if you disagree.

4. As an author, you should try to make a reasonable effort yourself. If your work is sloppy and full of mistakes, I'll stop editing and tell you to get your shit together before I go any further. Everyone makes mistakes, but if you keep making the same mistakes I'll point it out and tell you to do better.

5. There's only one of me, and my time is limited. So if I don't respond quickly, or can't edit your story quickly, don't take it personally.

6. Be patient. I like to do multiple passes and make sure a story really is ready before letting it go. Please don't take something half-finished and publish it anyway.

7. I may some day ask for something in return.

If those terms are acceptable, please go ahead and send me a message.
