Called It! · 6:55am Feb 17th, 2016

So, I was going back through one of the previous chapters of "The Iron Horse" and came across the following:

Just then, Pinkie, still in her Fluttershy costume, suddenly bounced over, waving her hooves to get Twilight’s attention. “Twilight, omigosh, here come Lyra and Bon Bon!” Pinkie pointed and Twilight followed until she spotted the pair.

The two of them were dressed alike. Both were wearing matching black suits and ties as well as sunglasses. They had mutual stony, deadpan expressions.

“Great costumes, you two!” Twilight exclaimed. “Are you two secret agents?”

“No,” Bon Bon said quickly.

“What?” Lyra cried, losing her deadpan in an instant. “But I thought we were supposed to be the Mares in Black!”

“No, I told you we’re the Blues Sisters!” Bon Bon snapped. She resumed her deadpan stare. "We've got 15 bits, half a cart full of hay, and we're wearing sunglases at night. Let's hit it."

“I thought you were those two gangsters from that Quarab Trotantino movie,” Rainbow Dash said as she landed among them.
Bon Bon rolled her eyes as Lyra giggled.

And then I realized that in the time since I wrote that scene... this happened:

Totally called it. I guess that means that "The Iron Horse" is officially canon now. I better send a letter to Hasbro asking for a portion of the residuals on that book. :trixieshiftleft:

That would be amazing if you actually did.

The fanbase slapping Hasbro in the face by predicting the future.... Not the first time this has happened. Princess Twilight Sparkle came out soon after Hasbro partially took down the Princess Twilight episode of Friendship is Witchcraft on Youtube.

Ha, that moment of vindication when you predict the future :ajsmug:

I would give you a high five, but you are much to far away.

"I better send a letter to Hasbro asking for a portion of the residuals on that book."

Noooo, not even in jest. The last thing the fandom needs is to poke Hasbro's lawyers. The *last* thing. Technically, the entire contents of Fimfiction.net live at the whim of Hasbro and the legal team. To poke that bottom peg in the Jenga tower is to court the loss of what we enjoy so much.

Now I'm going to go over to Amazon and order the book. It looks so cool, despite the fact I'm several multiples of age above its target audience. :pinkiehappy:
(And this is the reason *why* Hasbro tolerates us. Cash.)

3760508 I agree with you, besides this story was only partly cannon if this were true. I thought I saw the pre-order on barnsandnoble.com before the release of that chapter.

Wait, it's gonna be a thing?

3760508 Heh. Don't worry, I know better than to poke a bear, and lawyers are waaaay more deadly than that. :raritywink: (Though, realistically, Hasbro would have everything to lose from taking on fanfiction.)

Anyway, I have to admit this book does make me curious, maybe even more than I was about the Discord book. I think after Doctor Whooves and Derpy, Lyra and Bon Bon are my favorite backgrounders. Even if it wasn't everyone's favorite arc, getting to include all four of them in "Deep Blue" (and part of "Rhinestone Eyes") was lots of fun.
