    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

Above the Wasteland, Beneath the Fallout · 9:35pm Feb 16th, 2016

Above the page break, we have some delightful news for fans of Fallout: Equestria. Beneath, I bring you the highly anticipated first look at Fallout 4 DLCs.

First, this last week marked the release of the first chapter of Fallout: Equestria as performed by The Audio Project! :yay: Check out this fully voice-acted and scored audio drama.

You can catch the Introduction and Prologue through these links.

In addition, Equestria Daily has started an OC Spotlight series. And they kicked it off on Monday with by casting the spotlight on Littlepip. The write-up was a bit error-ridden, but the post served as a wonderful showcase of art from the Fallout: Equestria community. Check it out here!

And in Fallout news, after teasing us with information on the huge upgrade to Survival mode that will be coming, Bethesda has just released details for the first three packs of downloadable content for Fallout 4. All we have right now are prices, general release dates and a small blurb on what each brings to the game, but that is enough to get excited about (and to start budgeting for). They will be released one each month starting in March.

(On a side note, I must say that I am really digging the pulp fiction magazine cover art style for these DLCs.)

First up is Automatron. This DLC will be released in March, with a U.S. pricetag of $9.99.

According to Bethesda:

The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!

It is nice to see the Mechanist return. After hearing the Silver Shroud episode "The Mechanist Unmasked", I am eager to see if this Mechanist is our friend from the Capital Wasteland, or someone local inspired by (or possibly the inspiration for) the Silver Shroud villain. Having more robotic enemies afoot will make for an interesting escalation. (I confess that I am a little leery about how will this will play with the amazing mod Robotic Home Defence. But I'm sure that if there is any conflict, the modder will put out a patch.)

The next DLC will be Wasteland Workshop. This small DLC will cost only $4.99 in the U.S. and will be released in April.

Bethesda has described Wasteland Workshop like this:

With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixi tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more!

Admittedly, creating battle arenas isn't really my thing -- it isn't something I could imagine Angel doing -- so the most interesting element of this to me is the extra crafting options. The lettering kits sounds intriguing, as making signs without lightboxes would be nice. And I'm more than happy to throw Bethesda five dollars, even if this DLC doesn't turn out to be useful, if just to keep them putting out DLCs like the next one...

...Far Harbor! Now this is the one I am really excited about. :rainbowkiss:

From Bethesda:

A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours.

That. Sounds. Awesome!

Bethesda clearly saved the best for May. And it is correspondingly the most expensive, with a U.S. pricetag of $24.99.

And that brings us to a final bit of Fallout 4 news. These three DLCs are only the beginning. Bethesda intends to continue to provide even more new downloadable content throughout the coming year. However, since they are going to be created much more new Fallout 4 content than they anticipated, they are soon going to be raising the price of the Fallout 4 season pass.

Bethesda says:

Given the expanded DLC plan, the price of the season pass will increase from the current $29.99 to $49.99 USD (£24.99 to £39.99 GBP; $49.95 to $79.95 AUD) on March 1, 2016. However, if you already purchased the season pass for $29.99, nothing changes - you still get everything at no additional cost— the full $60 offering of add-on content for the original price of $29.99. In addition, if you didn’t buy the season pass yet, there is still time: anyone who buys the Season Pass for $29.99 before March 1st will get all $60 worth of content. This is our way of saying thanks to all our loyal fans who have believed in us and supported us over the years.

So get your pass now!

In addition, there will be closed beta tests for the DLCs. You can sign up to participate in those tests on the Bethesda website.

That's so amazing! I can't wait for those!:pinkiehappy:

Dat Far 'arbor one looks good to me.

Damnit Bethesda, REALLY trying to tempt me into buying a new PC that can play this....

Far Harbor looks more interesting to me than the other two DLC. Yay for sea monsters!

OK.. I laughed seeing the picture for the first one, so much epic and lulz at once.

The second one I was of a similar opinion, not a whole lot there unless playing a evil douche.

The third one grabbed my attention moreso for its placement within the world. Being a 'Native Mainah' I can think of three regions where that island could be located, the first being near Brunswick. For the longest time it held a military airfield. They were recently shut down within the last decade due to budget cuts. (And no more soviets to defend against)

The second location would be near Kittery at Maines southern tip. There's a submarine base located there and would naturally be a target for a first-round strike when everyone dropped the bomb. (No not THAT bomb, swears don't leave radiation)

The third location though this ones a bit of a stretch due to location is Bath, where the Bath Iron Works is located. A currently still-operation shipyard known for its Military and Coast Guard contracts.

All three locations certainly could've been a target if Bethesda went with what established facilities were located throughout our own Cold War and such. Subsequently since Maine also sticks up furthest into Canada it would've been a prime staging point on the Eastern half (prior to the US annexing Canada according to Fallout Lore).

The third one seems like it will be the first true DLC add-on in the same vein of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The first one looks interesting, too. March can't come soon enough!

Rush and Pony on!
T4E

Far Harbor looks like best out of those three announced. The others I'm not interested in, I figure there's a modder out there that can do the same thing for free.

Hmmmm... I wonder if Angel's dream of having a Mirelurk farm is one step closer with Angel's diaries?

Some of that content sounds real interesting to be added to Angel's story. But I wonder if it will be out in time to have an effect on the story?

3759208 Does Angel seem like the sort who would abandon her personal quest for who-knows-how-long to wander off to some harbor far from home?

Yes. :facehoof: Yes she does.

So, some DLC, a small DLC, and the first proper expansion. Neat.

Also, as a sucker who bought the Season Pass: :yay:

3759152

(No not THAT bomb, swears don't leave radiation)

You clearly aren't using potent enough swearing.

3759251

I just dislike playing a evil char. You want a truly evil char you talk to my buddy Jon. He's played some evil chars in games like that (Fable II and Fallout 3 are some examples)

3759258
Even the valiant and righteous can drop a true legend of a profanity from time to time.

Years and years later, there's still no animated series. Maybe we don't need one . . . . . . . . . .

It's always nice to see Fo:E get some extra attention now and then.

Check out this fully voice-acted and scored audio drama.

At some point I feel perhaps a Fallout: Equestria movie or series should be released what with all the art, comics, and stories we get taking place in this fantastic, albeit sometimes depressing, world you made. :raritywink:

That Far Harbor DLC sounds like a blast and something my character would jump at the chance to do.

3759232 Thank Celestia you admitted to that because I think like Angel would do that. :twilightblush:

Far Harbor reminds me of Point Lookout, which is a good thing since I consider it one of the best DLC Beth has ever released!

3759232 Well her home does need a lot of work and resources to fix it up and it sounds like it's for Nick Valentine, I suppose Angel could rationalize it for quite a few reasons.

Of course it could also depend when the DLC become available to play. Fallout 3's Broken Steel happened after you beat the main story after all and other DLCs seem to happen any time you chose to take them. So it might not be as much as being side tracked as much as it would simply be cleaning up after the main story... Though if that were the case, depending how you beat the main story would probably drastically change the why you would go there.:rainbowderp:

All of this sounds awesome, but if everything combined is $60, why pay $50 for the season Pass? I'd much rather wait until everything comes out and buy them then. But That's just my opinion.

I am thinking I might skip getting the first two DLCs and wait for Far Harbor to release. I want DLC that has more story than gameplay.

Time to make a Snetry Bot with a British accent.

I hated the price bump at first because I just finished telling myself I really needed to stop buying games for a while and save my money, then I felt like I was being forced to buy the season pass now. But you really can't argue with more content than the original value. I'll earn that cash back eventually.

So, the DLCs will be two bonus missions, a map expansion, an Arena Mode AND a whole new single-player campaign? Wow! I hope this shuts up some of the carpers!

It will be interesting to see how The Machinist alters depending on what path you took in the original campaign. I'm sure that the Institute, the Minutemen and the Brotherhood would all have distinctly different approaches to an attempt from a fourth faction to take over the Commonwealth.

Now we just need the G.E.C.K. Toolkit released along with these DLC announcements. So mods like turning Kellogg into corn or frosted flakes can realize their full potential and go crazy. Another example, the beloved Chinese assault rifle could be re-added in. I can dream of a Chinese assault rifle that spews fiery bullets like the Zebra assault rifle.

Chosen One! (Bethesda) Find us the G.E.C.K. and bring it to us! That is your (initial) goal now.
I've been playing the classic Fallouts a bit lot and dang it's great in retrospect to the references in Fallout: Equestria.

hi hi

I know that people say there's no such thing as bad publicity, and it is good to get Littlepip out there, I gotta say, that EQD post does not feel very flattering. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they were trying to make fun of Fallout Equestria and Littlepip. I dunno, maybe it is just my past experiences in the schoolyard talking. :ajsleepy:

Hell, it's about time! :pinkiehappy: Those DLCs sound like fun.

A homemade robot buddy? Yes, please! I love F4 companions, I really do, but when it comes to combat... *sigh* Seriously, it's either Danse or Dogmeat (as a packing mule) and Lone Wanderer perk. Also, I can't help but notice Sole Survivor's new robotic armor. Looks like I won't be constantly wearing power armor anymore.

As for the personal Thunderdome, I feel conflicted. On one hand, it's good to have some genuinely evil options, F4 has too few of them. On the other hand, I'm not really a fan of all this settlement building thing.

Last but not least, Far Harbor sounds totally awesome. A synth colony? A backstory for Children of Atom? Biggest Bethesda's DLC up to date? Want it, need it!
