Friendship is Card Games: Kenbucky Roller Derby #2 & #3

We return to the cutthroat world of G5 roller derby, where Sunny’s trying her darndest to prove she’s more than just a casual skater… and has assembled one of the most ragtag teams of misfits this side of the Mighty Ducks in the process. Let’s see how the story’s developed from there.

No, not mine. The Barcast's. The last call is currently under way, and if you want to hear my part in the grand interview lightning round, you can tune in at 4:20 Eastern/1:20 Pacific (about an hour from this posting.)

Yes, 4:20 on 4/20. No, I do not partake. Sorry to disappoint. :derpytongue2:

    Pest List

Just something I whipped together for fun one day, set to a possibly recognizable tune, all intended in good fun. And hey, given that I derived my Fimfic handle from a misremembered detail of the Mikado, it's only appropriate. :derpytongue2:

Friendship is Card Games: d20 Pony, Ch. 9, Pt. 1

Goodness, it’s been almost two years since I last checked in on Trailblazer’s adventures. IDW putting out comics almost as quickly as I could review them will do that, especially given all of the G5 video media coming out concurrently.

    Conflicted Crossroads

I have an interesting dilemma with an upcoming story, and thus I turn to the Fimfic public (or that portion of it that sees these blogs) for its wisdom.

Mystic Family · 3:40am Feb 16th, 2016

Near to my heart is the topic of Scootaloo's family. The poor filly suffers from Shrödinger's Family Tree; because we have next to no data on her home situation—we didn't even know if she had a home until Season 4!—it's entirely up to the author's interpretation. I like to think she has two loving (and living) parents, one of whom is Dizzy Twister, but that's sadly far from the norm for her.

Alaborn presented an interesting scenario in the aptly titled Scootaloo's Family. There, Scootaloo's home life isn't nearly as bad as it is in other stories, but it's still far from ideal, with four younger brothers doing to Scootaloo what she does to Ponyville; namely, wreaking havoc. The sequel, Scootaloo's New Family, has Scootaloo fed up with her home situation. She decides to go find a new, better family, and thus begins a grand quest of trial and a lot of error.

Why do I bring all of this up? Because the latest chapter of Scootaloo's New Family happens to involve a certain strabismic pegasus. And I may have been consulted.

A certain strabismic pegasus with a one in a billion gift. Or, two in a billion, in the case of Ponyville.

I thought you were Meta Four and got really excited.

Indeed.

I, myself, have always been fond of this little piece WRT Scootaloo and her parent(s)

I like the idea of Scootaloo's tragic family past having a genuine Schrodinger's Syndrome, where she never knows if her family exists when she goes home this time, so she tries to not face it by making family with other ponies.

The tearjerker is that she can't ask for help to find ponies that have no record of existing.

The shocking reveal is that Scootaloo has been slipping between dimensions unwittingly...or has SHE been the one doing the slipping? Dun dun dun!

Ouch. Meta Four does write an awesome Ditzy, but still, ouch.

3757661
Yeah, that's one of the more touching interpretations I've seen.

Bum bum bum!

Seriously, that is a fascinating if somewhat disturbing possibility. Though the question becomes what happens to all of the Scootaloos she used to be. Is there a whole flock of Scootaloos cycling through probability space in some kind of hyperdimensional conga line of familial trauma?

What about the one where Scootaloo's parents are cancerous growths connected to her by tubes hidden beneath her wings?

Or the one where she has all the parents she could ever want? :V

Just place a Twilight Zone around Scootaloo's house. Paradox resolved.

It's no insult, my brain keeps replacing your username with Meta Four's name; even now i can go to your userpage and still see that same persistent hallucination until i try to spell out your username.

I'm not sure if I should be getting my hopes up right now. Does this mean you might be writing another FiMtG story? Not My Little Praetor, both because you said you wouldn't and because Phyraxia is butts. Perhaps a full length story, with Ditzy (and maybe Pinkie) going on some form of adventure with other, non-Ungulan planeswalkers? 'Cause that would be cool. Or this could be a one-shot thing, I don't know. Still, I can dream.

My personal favorite, cancelled though it may be, is the one where Scootaloo is a burgeoning demigoddess.

The pestpony chewed on the wheat stalk in his mouth as he took in the scene. "Cigarette butts, bespoke shoeprints... Yup, you've got Serlings, alright. Don't worry, I know just the thing."

Also, I suppose if I have to be mistaken for someone, Meta's pretty nice.

This is just recursive fanfiction. Alaborn though Ditzy Planeswalker would work well as part of the story. That said, I did get an idea for a new Sideboard story recently.

Near my heart is a rib.

Sorry, read the start if the blog and that saying wouldn't leave my mind.

I'm a bit ambivalent about Scootaloo's home life, either living or not it's more if a matter on how the story is presented and if it's a main focus.
Though I have gotten a bit tired of seeing "Dash adopts Scoot to get her out of bad home situation."
And speaking of adoption I want to point out that we didn't see ALL os Scoot's room in that ep so she could very well have been in a foster home or an adoption home. Unlikely yes, but still possible.
At least it shuts down the "Scootaloo is homeless/lives in a box/under a bridge/etc" fics. For the people that follow canon.

Anyways, always happy to get more Plainswalker Bright Eyes.
Now I just need to read the first story...

We do get an exterior shot of Scootaloo's house, and given the size, it would have to be the tiniest dang orphanage in history. (Of course, even the comments on the picture I linked can't agree. I guess some people just really want Buzzywings to have no parents.)

Also, you'll be pleased to know that the "Dash adopts Scootaloo" cliche is one of the first things Scootaloo's New Family tackles.

3760316
Ah, I missed that exterior shot when I watched that one. Nice to know.

Personally I'd rather she have an at leat decent family life but over all I don't give much thoguht or care about the various Crusaders.
Everything is a tool for use, be it sticking with canon or not. It's all a matter of how the story is told.

I'll get around to reading the stories. I'm so far behind stiff here... .
