For those of us with beloved significant others, Valentine's Day is a day to embrace romance.
But not all of us are so blessed. And amongst those less fortunate, many have allowed this day to become a depressing affair, a reminder of what they don't have. "Singles Awareness Day", I have heard it called. Others have focused on the obnoxious commercialism of the holiday.
But while we don't all have romantic partners, we do all have family and/or friends whom we can share this day with. (I can say this with confidence, since if you are reading this blog, the chances are very good that you are a brony. And that means you have friends.) So instead, I suggest that we should all spend Valentine's Day remembering who we do have, and to make this day a celebration of those we love and care about.

Let yours know how much you care about them, and how thankful you are for being there for you... and with you.
And to all my friends and fans in this incredible fandom, thank you so very much. You mean more to me than you can possibly know.

My friends and I actually have a different kind of tradition for Valentine's Day. We buy each other cheap Dollar store quality gifts. All in all it's pretty fun. And I honestly don't mind being single so long as I have good friends.

It's an interesting way of making the holiday more positive.
I treat valentines day like any other holiday that I don't celebrate, although I do celebrate discount chocolate day.

Nope, doesn't ring a bell. Oh well. Seriously folks, despite people tendency to want to pull a yenta and play matchmaker, if you're happy alone, be happy alone. Or if not, just enjoy good friends company. And avoid purple toned librarians, odd pink drinks, and children today

I like this idea as well, it's sort of a tradition in my family, we share cards and candy as a family. And hugs. Can't forget the hugs.

I've never once felt depressed on Valentine's Day. Despite being single, it's mostly a choice for me right now. I have college to worry about, as well as job hunting and I'm not financially secure, so having a girlfriend isn't a top priority. However, I can see why many people would feel sad about this day. There's someone for everyone, they'll find him or her eventually, but there's no need to be sad today. Everyone here has friends, it's a core part of the fandom. Uniting us all together as allies.
Thankfully for those that happen to be still glum, comes the annual 'Discounts-on-Chocolates Day' the day after.
Here's a hard dose of truth, no matter who you are, you're dying alone — excluding the notion of a suicide pact, which you don't have. So live this life for you and don't fret being "single". If you have friends, cherish them. If you have family, treat them well, and take pleasure in the miracle of your existence.

I didn't know which day was Valentines Day this year until I read this blog post, but as luck would have it, my sister and her fiance are coming over to visit later, so I'll be able to observe Loved Ones Appreciation Day all the same. Serendipity, woo!
Gonna get a four pack of muffins after I get off work and go home to eat them.

To me, Valentine's Day is "Get a bottle of wine and bake a cake day", so that I'm never disappointed with how things turn out. If I have someone to share it with, hey. But if I don't, I still have a full bottle of wine and a cake. Win-win.
I know i'm late to the party on this discussion but I don't concern myself with this day. I have bigger problems to worry about than finding a partner.
I recall having a party on this day, only single folks allowed. Was a lot of fun, got pretty drunk. Would recommend.
