DD's story all wrapped up · 10:04am Feb 13th, 2016
SO I just realized that Diamond Dancer's story got all wrapped up nicely. since EQM isn't really a thing anymore, I think it's safe to close the book on her story.
Diamond's Story. (If you don't care you can totally skip all of this. ;D) Diamond grows up in Sunny Skies halfway home for Wayward foals and is declared a 'nudge' by the local cloud kids. Diamond eventually gets kicked out of the orphanage for taking violent offense to this name calling. (Diamond is to be sent away to a different home for misguided youth, but she runs away instead) Diamond meets up with Star Strider and the rest of the run aways and form a gang. Diamond develops a crush on fellow orphan Criss Cross. Diamond develops an obsession with stars after Star Strider tells her about wishing on a star. Diamond trains to fly into space. Criss Cross gets sick with horn rot. Diamond enters and wins flying tournament for prize money to help Criss Cross. Diamond is taken to the hospital after the contest where she is diagnosed with Icarus Syndrome. Diamond loses feeling in her arms and legs and wings, and learns to fly via muscle memory. Her coat turns an inky black as the disease progresses. Diamond is experimented on by Doctor Holiday while she recovers from the tournament in the hospital. Dr. Holiday discovers Diamond is a crystal pegasus that doesn't 'gleam' due to harboring depression over her missing parents and 'nudge' status. Diamond's parents are a unicorn named Blackout and a Crystal Pegasus named Silver Wing. (I have this long crazy intricate story about how Diamond's mother is actually Night Glider and it's really an issue of misplaced adoption rather than abandonment but that's not a transparent look into my own psyche or anything) Diamond's impenetrable body is a birth defect sometimes found in Crystal ponies that aren't exposed to the crystal heart at birth. Diamond's body tried to form the crystal sheen that Crystal ponies are known for, but just couldn't seem to get it all the way complete. Instead of a shiny crystal like substance for skin, Diamond's body has the hardness of her namesake and her coat has a shiny almost metallic silvery sheen to it. (When she's all cleaned up, heh) Diamond is rescued by her friends after she's told her body is shutting down on itself. She has six months to live. Diamond decides to flee from the city to see Princess Luna and thank her for stars in the sky before her time is up. Diamond leaves the group and heads to ponyville. (The group, unknown to Diamond, follows her to Ponyville) Diamond meets up with Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie and befriends them. Diamond begs for an audience with Luna. Fluttershy take Diamond to the castle for Medical treatment. Diamond frees a nightmare held in the castles dungeon and is possess by the creature. Is shortly rescued by Pinkie Pie. Diamond is cursed by the nightmare, unable to die and unable to age. She is trapped in her body. Diamond presses on to visit princess Luna and hold and audience with her. While waiting to speak with her, Diamond befriends a traveling bard named Bardigan. Bardigan adopts Diamond Dancer as a little sister after a week or so passes. Seeing Diamond happy with a new found family, her friends leave her be in Ponyville and return to manehatten Diamond Finally gets her audience with Luna. Luna offers Diamond a position on the night court, if Diamond can prove her determination to serve her by re-igniting a fallen star. Diamond succeeds and is given a piece of the star as a token of her dedication to the princess. Diamond discovers wishes on the star come true. Zany antics occur. Diamond is sent on various missions by Princess Luna from locating the ancient Wisp Mother to wrangling a Wumpus to fetching the yoke of her first boy friend. Diamond Dance makes friends with Apple Bloom and Dinky. Princess Luna slays the first night mare Diamond ever encountered, leaving Diamond no longer cursed and no longer invincible. No longer cursed to resist it, Diamond submits to Icarus Syndrome and realizes she only has a few days left to live. She tries to spend them in ponyville but she's too sick to leave Canterlot. Luna holds A winter solstice celebration. For her tireless efforts in the field of royal duty, Diamond is made a true child of the night of Princess Luna's court. Princess Luna affixes Diamond Dancer's wishing star to her cutie mark and fuses them together. Diamond is now half crystal pony and half star. Now part celestial being, Diamond's Illness is also burned away and her adventures are just begining! Good end! Thats pretty much how it all happened. Thats the last Role Play Luna and Diamond and the town did. I am super satisfied to end on that note.
I'm realizing I'm happier than I've ever been in my life these past few days. It is a tremendous feeling. :D
All of that sounds amazing! Is this written down in fanfiction form too? If not, you must totally do that!
You must be a huge fan of Starlight Glimmer, going by how many of her equality stripes you've stuck in the above blog...
Love it. Happy endings in stories makes me day.
Wh at an amazing story! I've been trying to make time to read Diamond Dancer but I'll move it to the top of the list now. I hope you decide to continue her story sometime, though. she sounds like a very special pony with a great tale to tell.
Loved the ending, too! Such a kind princess Luna is.
