    So I'm watching the premiere

No, I haven't watched season 8. Yes, I am watching because Chrysalis, Tirek, and Sombra are back. Also, why was an eight year old in Tartarus, who made that decision?

I haven't been active on the site for over a year. I have occasionally checked in to see how everyone was doing, but I've barely gotten any writing done here. I know I left on a hiatus last year and said I might come back to the site one day, but that's looking less likely with every passing day.

So, I'm making it official; I'm leaving.

Competition and Writing Nonsense · 2:38am Feb 13th, 2016

So I'm going to another school competition tomorrow.

Yep, I'm heading out early tomorrow for yet another school competition (not nearly as early as last time, though, so there's that). Hopefully I do better than I did last time, and that I have fun, of course. There's not much else for me to say about the competition 'til it actually happens, so let's move onto the next point of this blog.

I've been writing a bit and thinking a bit, so here's my update on what's happening here.

-I wrote a chapter for Lovestruck (mostly) and I plan to have the new chapter out by Sunday. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day!

-Met Your Match sequel, but only minisculely. Pinkie is sassy, and I'm having fun with it. I'm also having a blast with world building.

-I've decided to take up sketching again. It's nothing fancy, but I figured I could take up the "draw something everyday" challenge to get through the learning curve again.

-That, and a EG AU that I came up with two years ago came back to haunt me. (I'm not kidding, take a look)

Equal and Opposite

Source

After the Friendship Games, another foe makes itself known to CHS: Sombra King, former student to their rival Crystal Prep and entitled rich boy with a mean streak. Expelled from Crystal Prep for an unspeakable incident, Sombra's left on thin ice with the rest of the student populace and in delightful isolation of his own choosing.

That is, until Pinkie Pie steps in.

Threatened with a transfer to military school if he doesn't get his grades up and his act together, Sombra finds himself in under the instruction of Pinkie, who vows to ensure he stays at CHS as long as she's able. Will she be able to reform a wayward Sombra or fall into the cracks alongside him?

The name is because Sombra's main struggle is physics in this fic, and Pinkie is a boss at that subject because you gotta know how something works if you want to defy it (I mean, in this instance, anyway). I am having too much fun imagining sweet Pinkie hanging out with such a bad influence, and I should feel bad since bad boys have done to death, but c'mon, let me have my fun. I also blame this on some awesome EG Pinkie art I found:

Then, if Sombra's a teen, then does that mean other villains are gonna be teens, too? In a word: yes.

So, yeah, random AUs, and competition is happening tomorrow. Am I gonna go to bed early? I think we both know it's gonna be a no, since I have very little self control at times.

Several thoughts running through me head.

Your Competition: Another one, whoa! Good luck, and I really hope you get some tasty Whataburger again. :raritywink:

Lovestruck: I haven't read any of that fic, but I will and I will take the time to review it.

Met Your Match Sequel: YESSS! Oh, goodness, I can't wait to see what you have in store for your readers! And, to explore this new world sounds super fun. Sassy!Pinkie and TFS!Vegeta!Sombra is going to make me hook on this potential new series. Heck, I'm even fine with a single one-shot, anything is good if I can get some satisfaction from some sweet SombraPie (I mean this in the most non-sexual way).

Sketching: Nice! I actually like to draw myself, but I am pretty terrible at it. I hope you enjoy your days drawing, quite relaxing, if you ask me.

AU Equestria Girls: YES! ALL THE YES! I always wanted to do a story with Sombra as a teacher, and you even made a couple of one-shots about that, which I enjoy reading (some I read more than once). BUT, to have Sombra as a spoiled (I think) rich kid, it just seems all the more fun to play with. And, Chrysalis as his best friend sounds like a magical yet mastermind friendship, so much fun to toy with! I also love the outfits Pinkie has, it's actually pretty adorable, I agree! And, to see that in a story will be super awesome. (If you have Pinkie Pony up at some point, I can totally imagine Sombra freaking out: "WHAT IS HAPPENING!?" and all that jazz. And, since he is from Crystal Prep, maybe Twilight came across him once or twice, perhaps they have some history! Or, he ignored her and she felt bad, that's pretty fine too.

ALSO, on a completely different and strange note...Have you ever seen this fan-made comic?

I only brought it up, because I had this stupid idea running in my head that if there was a stallion that came to Ponyville and got all the mares focused and hooked on him (Pinkie included), considering his good-nature and is a complete stud. I love to see Sombra jealous, same as the other stallions in Ponyville (Heck, even Discord jealous would be funny). And, I can't help but Sombra even commenting, "What's so great about him? He's only tall, handsome, and a complete fit!...On second thought, I wouldn't mind rolling in the hay with him back when..."
Macinotish: Nnope.
Spike: I'm a baby dragon, you know, I shouldn't be hearing this!

Dumb idea is dumb, but I like me some SombraPie. :pinkiecrazy:

Anyway, love your ideas, I can't wait to see them all in action! :pinkiehappy:

3750889
I finally got to take a good look at this comment after UIL and lemme say, omfg, there is so much I love about what you said.

If you have Pinkie Pony up at some point, I can totally imagine Sombra freaking out: "WHAT IS HAPPENING!?" and all that jazz. And, since he is from Crystal Prep, maybe Twilight came across him once or twice, perhaps they have some history! Or, he ignored her and she felt bad, that's pretty fine too

First time Pinkie Pony Ups in front of him is... well, it's interesting. I'm torn between her Ponying Up during a tutoring session or when they're hanging around Chryssi. Or maybe during a first kiss or something... Like, imagine you're kissing someone and when you open your eyes, they have pony ears and a pony tail.

Sombra: ...Am I high?
Pinkie: Nope, but I am! *floats up* WHEEE!

And that comic... Yes. Just yes.

THERE IS NOTHING I DON'T LOVE ABOUT THIS. Pinkie getting caught up by a cute guy, all the other guys getting jealous, Sombra admitting that he himself is attracted to him omfg, why didn't I think of this before. Lol, it'd probably go like this.

*cute guy walks by*
Pinkie and Sombra: Dayum.
*both look at each other in stunned silence, then high hoof while grinning at each other*

3752213

Gah...So many possibilities. If you do the tutoring session, I can imagine not only Sombra being shocked, but if there was some mysterious new kid in the background (also in there for some small tutoring, and no one ever noticing the kid, despite being new), being completely shocked to see Pinkie Pie's pony-up, the kid would faint on the spot and no one would care to notice. While Sombra is just thinking, "She served me a cupcake today...she didn't put mushrooms in it, did she?"

With the Chrysalis idea, I could just imagine her being freaked out, and if Fluffle Puff is there, I can imagine her start randomly floating herself. Just a random thought, really. XD

The kiss, though! LOL, hilarious! I love the idea of that happening, and Sombra isn't entirely sure if he's "all there". Pinkie is adorable as always, though.

Hehehe, I'm glad you enjoyed the idea as much as I did. :raritywink: With how open Sombra and Pinkie are, though, I can help but think they would decide to both pursue the stallion, and the stallion thinking they are both insane. Of course, I don't actually imagine it going that far, it's mostly just an amusing scenario myself. Nonetheless, I love to see a jealous but slightly intrigued Sombra go against the stallion, and the other guys aiding their bro, Sombra, too. Who knows? Maybe it really will be Fluttershy's brother as the dreamboat stud, Fluttershy will never invite her brother back in Ponyville again. :rainbowlaugh:

3752401
I headcanon that the Crystal Empire is extremely open with any forms of (consensual, of age) love, meaning that polyamory, same-sex, multi-gender romance is pretty much the norm. They are super progressive in terms of equality and they are a very loving race overall (which is why they are so easy to conquer, unfortunately).

So, for Sombra, who was in the Empire for some time and was accustomed to it, I'm heavily sure he wouldn't be opposed to swinging. For Pinkie, after some thought, I feel like she's demisexual (meaning she only feels sexual attraction after a lot of emotional bonding, but that doesn't mean she can't find other ponies aesthetically pleasing), and she could be open to it, but only as long as all parties are happy and consenting. Sombra would be jealous that Pinkie was enamored by another pony, but he'd get over it as soon as he saw she was still faithful to him.

...Think of how many ship wars could be avoided with polyamory, tho

3752461

A very interesting concept, I hadn't really given thought of how society would have worked with the Crystal Empire. I supposed I always give a default mode to anything I don't know, which would be monogamous. I didn't consider the thought that a society, like the Crystal Empire, would be into an "open" relationship sort of thing. It's fascinating and intriguing to experiment with. Pinkie Pie as a demisexual is also an interesting concept, since I think most see her as completely homosexual, sometimes wholly heterosexual, and most of the time, bisexual (so many sexual orientations, I admit, even I don't know how many are there). Sombra is fine being with anyone, so long as he has some attraction to them physically, I think. So...I think that would make him bisexual, I think. Or, pansexual...I am not entirely sure, to be honest.

Either way, a big part of me is glad that Sombra would be the type to remain with one partner than multiple. I am more of a fan with two couple devoted and loyal to each other, than a multi-love relationship. That is just personal preference though, and I suppose I like to see that in other characters. Don't get me wrong, I don't badmouth those that are into that sort of thing, but it isn't exactly my cup of tea (each to their own, is my motto). Yet, I like to see characters being loyal to one person, and even with the idea open to swinging, they wouldn't really do it because of said devotion to their significant other. BUT, hey, again that is personal preference. I'm a sucker for sweet romance. And, nonetheless, It would still be interesting to see how Sombra and Pinkie's relationship is developed, even if in a unique sort of way. So don't worry about little ole fashion me. :raritywink:

However, I do admit...it would solve a lot of shipping wars. Goodness, no more blood shed! We would finally live in peace! HURRY, to FedEX, we're gonna need a lot of trucks for this one!

3752498
Well, they don't end up swinging simply because they're happy together, but it's something they did talk about. For me, though, I realized these two were fine together as they were, so swinging never really became a thing for them. Hypothetically, though, they would be open to it, they just don't do it. It's like saying you're up for bungee jumping, but you don't really wanna go through the process of bungee jumping entirely, y'know?

...Omfg, I just remembered a scene from Archer and I just:

This is why they don't swing.

Unavailable scene that followed this:
Sombra: *sits in a bathrobe and holds a cup of coffee very gingerly as he sits in total contemplation and shock*
Pinkie: *Glaring at him very disapprovingly*
Sombra: I-
Pinkie: No. You don't get to speak. Because, right after this, you are going to the vet's office to geT YOUR VOCAL CORDS CLIPPED.
Sombra: ... How about just put to sleep.

3752724

You have...absolutely no idea how much I just laughed right now. Good golly, that was so...perfect...I mean, now I can't help imagine Pinkie or Sombra in that sort of situation and afterwards it's just like, "Ooo...awkward...Uh, lovely home you have, by the way." :rainbowlaugh:

3752738
OK, but now I'm wondering about how this would translate to the Crystal War AU. Like, Pokey gets pissed about Pinkie and Sombra (even though he doesn't really feel romantic feelings towards her anymore, he doesn't like someone he cares about being with someone, y'know, evil), but Sombra misconstrues it as envy and tries to sooth things over by saying, "Are you worried that you can't have her, because we could always take turns. You know, we might have to get a day planner--" But Pinkie shuts it down immediately because, "IF I WANTED TO DISAPPOINT TWO PONIES AT THE SAME TIME, I WOULD TAKE MY PARENTS OUT TO DINNER."

So, yeah, no swinging.

3752748

Ha! Though, in all seriousness, that is an interesting way to put it. Though, I admit, I am not entirely sure when Pokey would be able to have a civilized conversation with Sombra, considering...well, you know, the war and all (Unless, we are going the Chrysalis AU route, connected to the Sombra war route). But, if you are confident to work that in, then you have all my faith. As for another way intercepting this idea of yours...hmm...I suppose another way would maybe have Maud involved. Since Pinkie would probably let Maud accompany her when confronting Sombra, or Maud will find a way in. But, a conversation between Maud and Sombra could lead to a big misunderstanding on Sombra's part. Just tossing ideas here and there, really.

3752761
Sombra has absolutely no interest including Maud into any activity between him and Pinkie. Swinging is fine, but if the parties are related, then it's a no from him.

...Is that what you meant by that or did I totally misread that like Archer did

If not, then as for more appropriate conversations (as appropriate they can be on the battlefield), then you bet Pinkie is gonna have Maud by her side. She knows that the only time she stood a chance against him was when she was there to back her up, and they're better together than alone. Sombra knows that, so he tries his best to separate them come battle. He has one-on-one time with Pinkie, but there are times when he's caught with Maud.

As for how Pokey would end up having a "civilized" conversation with Sombra, I imagine it'd be after he finds out that something is going on between Sombra and Pinkie, and then he gets all defensive about it. If anything was going on (romantically/physically) at this point, then Pinkie would try to make him understand where she's coming from.

Pokey: WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WITH HIM WHAT THE HELL OH MY GOD WHAT IS GOING O--
Pinkie: Pokey, Pokey, Pokey... Do he got the booty?
Sombra: What.
Pokey: I don't see what that has to do with--
Pinkie: do he got the booty, Pokey
Pokey: ...*sighs* he dooooo
Pinkie: There ya go

...I'm sorry, I've been up for almost 18 hours, I feel delirious

3752777

Lol! It's fine, I partially blame myself, I ended up choosing my words poorly. I have honestly been up for far too long and I only had four hours of sleep the previous night, so you're not the only one. I actually meant that if Maud and Sombra had a conversation, there would be a misunderstanding. Such as, lets say:

Maud: My sister and I do everything together. Everything.
Sombra: Everything...as in?
Maud: Everything.
Sombra: Like...sleeping in the same bed and...doing activities?
Maud: It's what sisters do from time to time.
Sombra: *Unnerved* Uh...I don't know how to feel about this.
Maud: You will accept, because my sister means everything to me.
Sombra: Okay, listen, I don't know where this is going. But, if it's going where I think it's going, I'm telling you now...Incest is not my thing, even if I'm in the middle of it.
Maud: *stares* You're really dumb.

Ehehe...Hopefully I can get my point across. :twilightsheepish:

Lol! Well, I suppose that answers my question between Pokey, Sombra, and even Pinkie Pie. It's funny, and I bet Sombra can't help but feel uncomfortable. :raritywink:

3752789
Ha! I see the conversation between them going exactly like that! Sombra is sarcastic as hell, but Maud is super blunt and straightforward, so they basically go in circles until Pinkie puts a stop to it.

Heh, I'm still debating how Sombra and Pinkie would actually, y'know, happen in this verse, now that I'm really thinking about it. I got some pretty strong ideas, but they keep pushing each other out of the way and it's a constant tug of war 'cause my mind would make itself up. We already got how they MET down, but my mind is constantly debating on how they should end up together.

Like, Sombra already knows stuff about Pinkie; he sees her on the battlefield all the time, and he constantly hears her name through the ears of his soldiers, so already he's intrigued by her... But, when he starts battling her, starts feeling her fight and move, he can't help but be bothered by the fact that he doesn't know her. He can read ponies like a book, but Pinkie is just... different. She doesn't make sense. She's just Pinkie, and it drives him crazy.

Finally, one day, they're fighting each other and he just can't take it anymore. He has to know more about her, he has to be near her, he has to know her and feel her and oh shit, is he kissing her? As soon as he pulls away, he teleports away and retreats, leaving Pinkie and everyone else like, "WHAT THE LITERAL HELL, DID THAT JUST HAPPEN"

Another part of me just wants them to have this really aggressive fight in private when Sombra sneaks onto Equestria territory and bumps into Pinkie as she's on patrol, and whoops, they're rolling around in the ground trying to fight each other and whoops again, they're kissing hope no one comes by while this is happening

...maybe both could happen. Both is good. My god, I should go to bed, my delirious mind won't stop rambling, blah

3752824

Sombra having no idea what Pinkie is sort of reminds me of Twilight, but that just makes me loves this all much more. Sombra does seem like the studious type, it would make sense he would want to know Pinkie as much as possible, because ponies like him have a constant thirst to know everything and everyone. I like this idea, and to have all that frustration get into a heated kiss is the icing on the cake. As for the other scenario, I feel like that could be work in too, after-all, their passionate yet private sessions need to have an origin of sorts before diving into this relationship deeper. So, I would think that would include more than one encounter before things get really interesting. :raritywink:

3752832
I bet the first kiss during their fight wasn't even on purpose. They were just fighting and then they started tumbling, then their teeth just kinda awkwardly clacked together in the most awkward, uncomfortable kiss ever and when they pull away they're both just flabbergasted and angry and... really wanting to try that again for some screwed up reason. Sombra, more particularly, but he'd never admit it. Lol, it's like that scene from Archer with Sterling and Pam.

Sombra: That kiss meant totally nothing. It wasn't even that great.
Pinkie: Yeah, sure, you didn't like it... Hot, steamy, sweet kisses for days--
Sombra: I WILL FIGHT YOU RIGHT NOW
Pinkie: COME AT ME BRO
*afterwards*
Pinkie: *strolls out* How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Pinkie~
Sombra: ...Shit.

Edit: THIS COMIC IN PARTICULAR CAME TO MIND AFTER I POSTED THIS

Edit 2: I should go to bed, it's almost 1 am, lord

3752868

An awkward kiss is still a kiss in my book, makes it all the more amusing! But, LOL, I had to laugh at that Archer dialogue, it seems to fit this situation really well. :rainbowlaugh:

Ha! I remember that comic, I managed to see it when I first went to that link you sent me long ago. Nonetheless, to see Sombra actually doing this, tearing off his armor dramatically in front of Pinkie is just perfect! Lol!

3752876
Sombra is such a drama king about that stuff, it's hilarious. He's not used to liking ponies, let alone loving them, so this whole thing is such a curve for him.

OK, but imagine... Imagine Pinkie and Sombra fighting so much that his armor ends up falling off and he's like, getting ready to fight her, but she's not moving because... he looks super hot without armor on, oh no.

pre06.deviantart.net/f05e/th/pre/f/2013/360/a/b/abc97c6bbf134c98a55effb70b1b949c-d6zk4km.png
THE PICTURE IS BACK WITH A VENGEANCE.

3752891

Haha! Right, he's such an innocent colt when it comes to the terms of love. I mean, yeah, this colt is a vengeful tyrant and will do practically everything to gain victory, but...completely clueless when it comes to the one thing that originally does physically defeat him: Lovey dovey, kissy-kissy!

Anyway, I'm sure this would be Pinkie's inner reaction, but wouldn't dare show Sombra would be this:
pre09.deviantart.net/3580/th/pre/i/2012/014/d/c/extremely_surprised_pinkie_by_iamthegreatlyra-d4mbkki.png
Nonetheless, I would love to see this sort of scene play out. It's simply beautiful.

3752900
...I know we talked over 24 hours ago, but seeing as how I wasn't able to reply earlier, I'm just gonna put this here now:

Pinkamena stood in silence as the chaos of the battlefield continued on around her, thundering hooves and battle cries ringing throughout the air. But, everything was mere background noise to Pinkamena's inner thoughts. King Sombra, the sworn enemy against Equestria and Pinkamena's regular combatant on the battlefield, was mere feet from her, easy for the taking. Yet, only one problem remained...

His armor had been torn off.

That should have motivated Pinkamena into attacking, as it would have made beating him easier. However, it only drove her from doing her anything of the sort as her eyes couldn't help but take in the full picture of what she was seeing. Long legs, toned muscles, a wild mane with nothing to keep it tamed, and deep, ruby red eyes oh hell he was staring at her.

'Say something, Pinks,' Pinkamena thought, trying to find a way to get away from this without losing her dignity.

Sombra narrowed his eyes at her. "Well? Are you going to do something other than gawk all day?"

Pinkamena returned his expression, but she could still feel her eyes wandering once more. She knew that she shouldn't be ogling the enemy, but, to be completely fair, she had never really wanted to beforehoof. Now that there was nothing hiding his physique from her, she had nothing to keep her from doing it. At least, that's what she told herself.

Sombra growled. "You know, most would take silence as a sign of disrespect, especially towards royalty."

Pinkamena scoffed, and she prepared to make a snide remark. But, her words failed her when her eyes began to focus on another part of Sombra's body. "Damn."

Sombra arched a brow. "I beg your pardon?"

Suddenly, the retreating cry from Equestria's forces rang out. Pinkamena's eyes finally broke away from Sombra and towards the rest of the battlefield, where she saw many of her comrades running away.

Pinkamena looked back at Sombra, and she allowed herself one last once-over. "You have a nice ass."

She darted away before he could reply.

3755559

...*clap*...*clap*...*clap, clap, clap*

That was both hilarious and beautiful! :raritystarry:

I couldn't stop smiling when I was reading this. I didn't know you were actually going to put up a whole scene, that was super awesome! And, I could only imagine Sombra's expression, I bet he didn't expect that, heck, even I wasn't sure that was coming in (the one-liner in the end). That was hilarious! I know I said that, but it's true! I give you a good thumbs up for this. (<---And, a heart, apparently)

3756758

Lol! To see Sombra's expression like that in the battlefield would be so amusing to see. But, DAT BOOTY, it's soshiny! You need to put on shades for that view!
pinkie.mylittlefacewhen.com/media/f/rsz/mlfw3168_huge.png

(And, here is just a random vector picture I found:
derpicdn.net/img/2015/5/22/901688/large.jpeg

3756814
That vector is glorious. I love it so much. So... majestic.

Though, I wonder how Sombra's gonna use that to his advantage in later battles. Probably have some of his armor fall off "accidentally" so it distracts Pinkie during their fight.

Sombra: Oh, nooo, my cape fell off. Now everyone can see my back and my buuutt.
Pinkie: ...I hate everything.

3756951

Pff, ha! I'm sure everyone else in the battle, once in a while, would look at them and think, "What is going on...?" and Sombra's soldiers, if they have free-will, would start to wonder why they are following this guy's orders. :rainbowlaugh:

3757050
There are actually a couple of Sombra's soldiers who have free-will! Most of them wear the mind-control armor, but he has a special team of ponies with free will that are super loyal to him. I have one in particular who's a big player on Sombra's side and is the leader of the special team, but she hasn't shown up yet. Her name is Amber Waves, and she's one of my fave Crystal Ponies (I just like background ponies for some reason; it's a curse).

derpicdn.net/img/view/2015/12/7/1038791__safe_solo_screencap_crystal+pony_the+crystal+empire_amber+waves.png

She serves not only as the team leader, but also as Sombra's sole confidant. They've known each other for a long time and have extreme respect for one another, but Amber is super loyal to Sombra's cause, so she's kinda screwed up a bit in terms of ideology. She also has a small side-story with another character, but I have yet to fully develop it for public consumption.

...Oh, God, I can't stop laughing about how she's gonna be when she sees this happening.

Amber: C'mon, we have to aid the ki-- OK, what the hell is going on here?

3757099

Interesting, I didn't really consider the thought of higher ranking soldiers in Sombra's army. I mean, I did, but I didn't really dwell on it. Nonetheless, Amber Waves sounds like a real interesting character and I am curious of her backstory (even if not developed yet). Though, LOL, she just might second-guess her King's motives when witnessing the battles between Sombra and Pinkie. After-all, I would think, over-time, the battles between them would get more ridiculous, but hilarious. :rainbowlaugh:

3757250

Though, LOL, she just might second-guess her King's motives when witnessing the battles between Sombra and Pinkie. After-all, I would think, over-time, the battles between them would get more ridiculous, but hilarious.

She tries so hard to convince herself and her other team members that Sombra's actions are totally justified, even when he's just being a sarcastic jerk in the name of bothering Pinkie. But, sometime down the line, she realizes that Sombra is having a little too much fun with messing with her...

3757498

Hmm...Interesting, perhaps that may cause some sort of rebellion. Well, maybe not rebellion, per say, but add drama to the entire situation. Amber Waves seems smart, she wouldn't let her King get distracted, and perhaps she would do something drastic, but in her mind, she is doing so to remain loyal to the King she has come to respect. If not Amber Waves, then another free-will soldier, since it may or may not be in Amber's character from what you told me so far. Nonetheless, I am very fascinated by her!

3757614
Speaking of rebellion... Well, no one can enslave an entire empire without some opposition of sorts. Wonder how Pinkie'll react when she learns she isn't the only one fighting against Sombra...

3759909

Hmm...You can go two ways.

1) She feels that since the rebels have the same goal as hers, she will feel her missions to defeat Sombra seem possible, and may go by the motto, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." but the rebels may want to take a step further of defeating Sombra that Pinkie isn't comfortable with, and may go against their ideas.

2) At first she is happy, Equestria may have new allies. However, the thought of ending her battles with Sombra starts to make her depress, and even feels odd of the thought of Sombra's death. Confused and frustrated with herself, she is conflicted of accepting the rebels' help, but is still willing to follow the Equestrian order.

Well, those are my thoughts anyway.

Both could be possible, in a way. Pinkie, at first, is happy that she has new allies to help her beat Sombra, but she doesn't quite agree with their methods. They want to stick his head on a spike, not actually make him serve time for what he did.

For me, it kinda reminds me of the Superman vs. Batman discourse. They are both heroes and both of them want to keep the world safe, but they have different ways of doing it. Superman has indignation when lives are in danger, especially when it's his new home after his original home was destroyed. Batman, while he is very big on vengeance (I am darkness, I am the night, I am BATMAN), he does not believe in all forms of punishment. He believes people should serve and rot in jail for their crimes, regardless of what they did (mostly because his parents' murderer did not serve time).

Here's where the whole versus stuff starts: the Joker attacked Superman's home turf in an attempt to strike against the Justice League (I believe, it's been awhile since I've freshened up on my DC knowledge), and Superman goes ballistic. He kills Joker out of anger and spite:

40.media.tumblr.com/c70d37ffb6a86933477199c14a48d6c7/tumblr_mhxm49yYyN1r8qs4to1_500.png

And Batman saw it, too. His whole deal alongside the whole serving in jail thing is that you should never kill someone if you have the power to do so. To him, Superman had too much power, and so he decided he needed to be put to a stop. That's how the whole Batman vs Superman stuff happened, and that's kind of how I see this whole thing.

(Side note: I am not on B-Man's or Superman's side. I'm on Team Wonder Woman.

33.media.tumblr.com/75a83d2a6fd6ca2857a92c4cb92d6b80/tumblr_inline_ms16stEAm31qz4rgp.png )

Pinkie and the rebels are two sides of the same coin; yes, they want to beat Sombra and put an end to his tyranny, but they don't exactly agree with how that's supposed to happen. Pinkie originally wanted him dead, but as time goes on, she just wants him to be punished (much like how Discord was). The rebels want him dead, and their actions to make that happen are definitely in the gray area...

I also have a character who is a part of the rebellion that works as a double agent serving under Sombra and gives info to the rebels, so maybe once they learn about Sombra's "interest" in Pinkie, they see her as a way to get their revenge... Ooooh, this is interesting!

3759975

I never knew you were such a fan of DC! Nor did I know the origins of Superman versus Batman. So, I tip my hat to you, good madame! (I hardly know anything about Wonder Woman, I only know the basics. She seems like a fine heroine to me.) With that said, you bring up interesting comparisons with Pinkie Pie and the rebels.

Sombra is a terrible King, a brutal tyrant, and I tend to forget that there's more going on outside the battlefield. But, this makes me curious...I sort of imagine the rebels not only want to overthrow Sombra, but perhaps the entire monarchy rule. More of a democratic approach, and I wouldn't blame them. The Crystal Empire vanished for 1,000 years or so, and only now had they return to a future world they probably won't recognize. They had suffered for so long, the Kingdom that is, and were forced into slavery, following one unicorn's whim and not having enough power to stop him.

The Rebel's logic is that if they bestow someone else with the same high authority, how do they know that history won't repeat itself? It would be interesting that the rebels would be similar to the Western countries (USA, Mexico, etc.) that fought for independence and let their people choose, and have their own rights. Perhaps their Rebels' ideology would spread to fellow Equestrians. It won't make another full out war right after, but the seed would be planted.

Now, with Pinkie Pie, I could imagine her going against this philosophy. Princess Celestia is her leader, she wouldn't go against her gracious ruler. And, I would also think Pinkie Pie would be very wary and keeping an eye on them. They have the same goal now, but how about after? Like you said, Pinkie wouldn't believe in their methods of killing Sombra than have him deal with his sentence. Having a back and forth arguments of morals and philosophies seems very interesting. We don't see Pinkie Pie getting involved in such debates, usually leaving that to Twilight or another Mane 6, in both the show (kinda) and other fanfictions.

Of course, I don't imagine this story to go full-on depth into politics, but I would think it would be mentioned here and there. For now, they have a common enemy and have different ways of dealing with it. And, I could imagine that Princess Celestia would be against the idea of killing Sombra. After-all, Celestia never sentenced anyone to death, so it would make sense why she would be against the Rebels' methods, and I can see tension growing in the ranks as well. Fellow other Equestrians may agree with killing Sombra and may gain some protest against the Sun Goddess.

Over-all, if you go with this sort of idea or not, I think this is going to be one heck of a story!

3760070
YES, ALL OF THIS, I AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS. Though, I imagine that when the rebels begin their attack on Sombra and Pinkie sees what they're doing is going to end up killing him, she's gonna have this huge moral dilemma: let them kill him or save him. Of course, she knows she wouldn't be able to live with herself if he ended up getting killed because she know it isn't right.

So, imagine, if you will, she saves him. Now what? She stopped the rebels' plan, but in doing so, she saved Equestria's worst enemy. She saved him, and since the rebels convinced her side to join forces with them, who's going to come out being the bad guy in this situation?

Pinkie.

Another thing that is going to make this interesting is that Pinkie, now seen as a traitor to Equestria for saving him, is going to have to make another drastic decision: return to Equestria and face the consequences of her actions (knowing that the rebels will enact their plan once more), or, worse yet, join forces with the pony she saved because she has nowhere else to turn to.

And her friends... Rainbow is going to be so confused and angry. Pinkie is one of her best friends, but how on earth could she ever team up with the monster who took her wing? Oh shit, and Maud. How could this have happened? Her little sister, somepony she was meant to protect and keep from evil, is now apart of it? Sweet lord, my heart...

Now, imagine everything from Sombra's point of view: not only was he seconds from being killed by his own slaves (after thinking them to be incapable of true hatred and malice towards others within the loving upbringing of the Empire), but he was saved by his worst enemy. Regardless of how he feels towards her at this point (interested in her, consistent hatred), he's going to feel somewhat indebted to her.

And now Pinkie, frightened of what will happen if she returns home, is now sharing residence with Sombra, who decides to let her stay with him because what else can he do? She may have tried to bring him down in the past, but she never stooped as low as to killing him (except for when her own life was at risk, so who could blame her). Now, they're both stuck together as they find out a way to combat this new rebellion that they soon learns not only threatens Sombra, but Equestria itself.

I mean... Dang. This some serious stuff right here. I bet once Sombra sees just how much he really twisted the Crystal Ponies into such a state of hatred when they've always been so free-loving and accepting before is going to give him the wake up call of the millennia. And Pinkie? When he sees that one of Equestria's most loyal soldiers sees the fault in those who are perfectly justified in their revenge... Hell, that's gonna be another wake up call. It won't reform him, but it will put him well on his way to turning over to the other side.

My god, this is a lot to think about. I guess this is how their whole thing together truly develops into something more because they both see the immorality and the cruelness of it all. Just... think of how this is going to translate into the romance. Both are questioning their moralities and they both find that while it has to do with the war, it mostly has to do with each other.

AND THEN THEY CAN BE TOGETHER, THE END... Lol, not really, though, it's gonna be a lot more complicated than that. BUT I CAN DREAM, CAN'T I

THE HYPE IS THROUGH THE ROOF.

Seriously, DANG, to have Pinkie Pie be seen as a traitor brings so much suspense, drama, and even anguish to this story. It's marvelous and beautiful. And, not only for Pinkie, but Sombra, Rainbow Dash, and Maud! Sombra going through moral turmoil and is forced to think of his own actions when everything is blown up to his face. Rainbow Dash may have to question her royalty sooner or later, staying loyal to her friend or to Equestria, not knowing the Rebels' growing influence. Then there's Maud, as you pointed out, she will have to face a dilemma concerning her sister. She would have to either abandon her post to join her sister, who Maud considers to have turn evil, or remain within Equestrian bounds and may or may not have to capture Pinkie for imprisonment. Her love for her sister versus the love for her Kingdom (she, too, not knowing of the Rebels' influence, at first). IT'S ALL SO SUSPENSEFUL! :pinkiegasp:

But, this begs the question...Clearly, we know the quarrels of Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Maud, and Sombra. And, I will think they are the main characters of the story. However, this makes me curious about Twilight Sparkle...True, she didn't become a student to Celestia, but as you noticed, everyone still gained their cutie marks. Perhaps Twilight in this universe did as well, but differently. Not entirely sure how...but, nonetheless, I can picture her admiring her Princess and would do anything for her Kingdom. A powerful unicorn in the making, a strategist, and perhaps, when the time arrives, her new mission is to capture the traitor, Pinkiemina Diane Pie.

Also, CRAZY idea here, but as you know, Spike wasn't hatched because the rainboom didn't activate Twilight's powers at the time. So, Spike remains unhatched...Unless, someone else did hatch it, and again...this is super crazy and I wouldn't blame you for denying it, it's just an idea. But, anyway...what if this someone else was Sombra, who thought of training a dragon (Lol, "How To Train Your Dragon") under his complete whim would be a HUGE advantage in the war. Feeding Spike's greed but harnassing him to follow orders, therefore making Spike one terrifying monster. Still, perhaps not completely mindless, still having his Spike-like personality, but having a limit to it. Picturing Sombra in control of Adult!Spike just gives me the heebie-jeebies! Nonetheless, it's a mere idea, I won't take offense if you think it's stupid, don't worry. :moustache:

I was actually considering Twilight being one of Canterlot's top researchers and is the one who made cybernetic limbs possible in that timeline. Her magical aspirations didn't pan out, so she went a more scientific route instead and became a very notable genius within the community.

Nonetheless, you are correct in Twi's loyalty to Celestia, and it wouldn't surprise me if she were a part of the action as her brother is Captain of the Royal Guard. She could very easily have combat training to keep from getting hurt while she tests out new weapons, so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch for her to end up joining Dash and Maud in helping to bring Pinkie down (though I think she'd be fascinated in taking her alive to see if Pinkie was corrupted by dark magic because Twi is also interested in how that works).

At one point during world building, I (jokingly) considered the idea of Trixie trying out for Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns (it's a headcanon of mine that she did so in canon after Twi's magic burst, but she was very lackluster compared to Twi). I thought it would be hilarious if by some fluke that she did hatch Spike's egg (Spike hatching on his own, random magic burst), she'd be accepted. Maybe not take Twilight's place under Celestia's wing, but maybe Spike would end up being Trixie's assistant in this world like he was for Twi.

(Another thought: Twi and Trixie are kinda rivals because they're both talented in their own ways, and they want to help the war effort, but Trixie keeps making it a competition because she feels threatened by Twi. Side dramaaaaa.)

Although... You intrigue me with your idea. Maybe at one point, Trixie (alongside other Unicorn students-turned-soldiers) has Spike accompany her and Sombra's soldiers capture him (maybe Sombra could be capturing Equestria's allies to get info to use against them), and then he decides to use him to his advantage. I wonder how Pinkie's going to react to seeing Trixie's dragon assistant in Sombra's clutches, though. I like to think they would have talked to each other at one point and that upon seeing him, she'd recognize him because, hello, not that many dragons in Equestria.

Pinkie: Spike?
Spike: Pinkamena? Oh my gosh, were you captured, too?
Pinkie: Not... really. It's a lot more complicated than that. Wait, what do you mean "captured"?
Spike: Sombra captured me awhile back... Didn't Trixie say anything?
Pinkie: ...
Spike: ...Oh.
Pinkie: Listen, I'm sorry that you're here like this, but things have gotten a lot more complicated than ever. I'll take you out of here and we can catch up.
Spike: But, King Sombra--
Pinkie: Can shove it. I wanna talk to my friend.

...Shit, Pinkie and Spike's friendship is something we do not talk about enough.

What cuties.

EDIT: IMAGINE PINKIE AND SOMBRA GETTING INTO AN ARGUMENT OVER SPIKE LIKE THEY'RE DIVORCED COUPLE ARGUING OVER A KID.

Pinkie: WHO THE HELL SAID YOU COULD USE SPIKE AS A WEAPON
Sombra: I DID, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT
Pinkie: I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS HE'S A KID
Spike: ...Don't I get a say in this?
Pinkie and Sombra: SHUT UP MOMMY AND DADDY ARE TALKING

A grand idea! It would be very interesting to explore a Twilight that did not so much rely on magic but science instead. Or, really, a mixture of both, but you get what I mean. Anywhoozle, it would also make sense if she did have basic combat training, I mean her brother is the Captain of the Guard. Yet, I could imagine Shining being against his little sister to try to capture the traitor, we don't get enough sibling love from those two. I mean, obviously, in the show it's mentioned, but they mostly focus on Twilight and Candace than Shining and Twilight.

I know you said it was a mere idea, but that really does intrigue me as well. Trixie is a rival of Twilight's (basically) and those two butting heads it's too good to pass up. I also like that Trixie may be the one to hatch Spike, yet it seems Trixie doesn't really care for the dragon as Twilight would have. Makes me wonder if Twilight and Spike would meet in this scenario of yours.

With that said, the idea of Pinkie forming a friendship with Spike through harsh times is super cool. You're right, we don't get enough of this two, and they hard meet up as it is! Heck, not even the show brings up friendship between Spike and the other mane 6. They did for Apple Jack at one point, yet it wasn't really brought up afterwards. But, anyway, yeah, I dig the idea of Pinkie Pie and Spike (funny dialogue, by the way). Though, heh, when I think of Spike in your stories, I remember that you made it that Sombra and Spike are legit friends. And, I can't help but think it will eventually lead to that between Spike and Sombra, once Pinkie pesters him to not have Spike trapped in a dungeon somewhere or something. An epic bromance soon in the making (possibly...probably not so likely).

3763736
I can definitely see Sombra and Spike forming a bond in this world, after Sombra stops imprisoning Spike, anyway. I think he'd try his best to reunite him with Trixie after he got that moral wake up call, then see how she treats him and says, "Maybe you'd be better off with someone more capable," then suggest Twilight. Which, of course, drives Trixie crazy, and Spike loves Sombra for it.

Now, I'm wondering... How do you think Maud and Rainbow are going to react to seeing Pinkie and Spike being buddy-buddy with Sombra when not too long ago they were enemies? And how is their reaction going to escalate when they find out there might be something more between Sombra and Pinkie...?

Rainbow: Is, uh... Something going on there or am I crazy?
Spike: They totes like each other, there's no denying it.

I love the idea already!

Not only would they be confused, but probably think that is the reason why Pinkie betrayed them. I love that Spike is just there, though, being a Commentator. Nonetheless, I can also imagine that Twilight (if she's there) would think Sombra used his dark magic to be affectionate towards him. Which, to her, would be mind-boggling, because dark magic isn't proven to be affectionate, in a sense. I can imagine Twilight being a total nerd about it.

Twilight: There is no logic behind this! With all my research, dark magic couldn't make them...make them...show overbearing affections! Unless...UGH, I need to get back to the lab, this could be an advantage for us! Somehow...

Twilight: There is no logic behind this! With all my research, dark magic couldn't make them...make them...show overbearing affections! Unless...UGH, I need to get back to the lab, this could be an advantage for us! Somehow...

Oh. My. God. That's so... perfect. And the others are just like, "...Shit, if she can see it, then that must mean..." And now I'm wondering just what affections Twi is talking about... Like, they stop insulting each other and then they escalate to actively caring about each other. OMFG, I JUST:

"Pinks, baby, you OK?”

Pinkie squinted, looking at Sombra with surprised confusion. Sombra felt a blush rising steadily up his neck, creeping up onto his cheeks. He heard Spike chuckle next to him. His gaze dropped, he shifted awkwardly, opened his mouth and closed it again, swallowing hard - and his face was burning hotter and hotter with every agonizing second.

“Did you just call her -” Spike began, voice dripping with uncontainable amusement.

“I MEANT TO SAY ‘BUDDY’, OK?!”

Sure ya did, Sombry. Suuuure ya did.

3763817

Good golly, that was beautiful. Sombra is such a dork, I can't even!

Twilight: MY BRAIN IS NOT COMPUTING, AND I BLAME YOU!

3763840
Everypony starts making betting pools about what's gonna happen first: Sombra and Pinkie hook up, or Twilight exploding. It becomes a nightly process and it's driving Maud, Dash, and even Amber Waves crazy.

Soarin: 50 says they do it.
Spitfire: 50 says they don't.
Shining Armor: 100 says they at least make out by night's end.
Dash: WOULD YOU GUYS STOP MAKING WAGERS ABOUT MY BEST FRIEND IN FRONT OF ME, GOOD GOD.
Maud: And Pinkie would never stoop as low as to... do it with Sombra.
Amber: Nor would my king, but with her.

...Then Pinkie and Sombra catch wind of the wagers, so when they do hook up, they act like nothing happened and just laugh about it while everyone keeps arguing about them while they kiss each other in secret. Heh, bet during battle, they sneak off to go make out and when they come back all disheveled, no one bats an eye. Probably give each other a couple bruises to make sure they don't catch on or get hurt when a rebel catches them.

Rebel: What the--
Pinkie: *knocks out the rebel* YOU DIDN'T SEE NOTHING.
Sombra: ...I am so turned on right now.
*resumes making out*

3763870

LOL, glorious! I love how everyone is just betting on one another, and I bet as soon as Sombra and Pinkie do hook up, it will be that moment when Twilight just explodes.

pinkie.mylittlefacewhen.com/media/f/rsz/mlfw829_medium.jpg

3763875
Watch her be the first to figure it out. Or, alternatively, Sombra approaches her about it.

Sombra: Sparkle, as I'm sure you've noticed, I've taken a change of behavior. The other deduce it to be because of my moral reconfiguration, and in a sense, this is true.
Twilight: Yeah, I noticed, I just don't understand how this--
Sombra: I'm seeing Pinkie, Sparkle. That's why.
Twilight: W-What...? Why are you telling me this?
Sombra: *leans in close and whispers* Because no one will ever believe you.
*Sombra leaves and Twilight is left sputtering*

Then, of course, someone else figures it out. Probably Amber Waves. She'll see Sombra and Pinkie talking together about stuff, and while Pinkie's talking about something, she sees Sombra just gazing at her lovingly and suddenly it just clicks like:

media.giphy.com/media/3jArsPD9RBcDm/giphy.gif

And she starts screaming, "OMG, OMG, OMG", while Sombra goes, "AMBER, CAN I SPEAK TO YOU IN THE OTHER ROOM PLEASE," and just drags her out while she flips out because her boss is with a (former) enemy, how the hell did this happen. She listens to the wagers each night with growing agony because she knows which ones are real and which ones aren't, but they don't, and it's driving her mad.

3763922

Oh, my God, I just loved the scenario with Twilight and Sombra. I have been in Twilight's position before, and I know the feeling of absolute anguish when no one believes you. It drove me nuts, I can only imagine Twilight's because it would be so much more severe. :rainbowlaugh:

Amber Wave's reaction is just as hilarious! Now I can't help but think her and Joey will have more similarities when it comes to keeping secrets. :raritystarry:
