Every antagonist is the protagonist of their own story.

Spike receives a letter one day giving him valuable insight in the ways of a dragon. His journey will take him past his normal boundaries and into a land unknown, where the best option might be to turn around.

    2018 Resolution

A few hours early, but I figured I would write this while I have some free time instead of squeezing it in when I don't.

    Holiday Story Dec 2016

2 years ago today, I wrote a story called Cold Outside. It didn't get much reception, but I still read it sometimes for the feels. I was looking at it again, seeing as the holidays were coming up, and I wanted to write a follow up part. Last year I wrote some human holiday thing that didn't end up very well. I wanted to delete that story because it didn't feel like a story. I hadn't, mostly

A Flicker in the Light · 2:55am Feb 12th, 2016

I decided that for such an occasion I would write a little short for those dedicated fans.

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything recently, but I'm planning on adding extra details(Better character design/interactions, and place descriptions) and it's taking some time to make sure I do it right. However, I should be done soon, and I've also been working on something more HiE related...

For now, enjoy this little message.

And then, as if nature herself sighed, I saw a sight that pained me. Amongst a battlefield stood what remained of a man. His figure tall, yet thin. His expression hurt, but not dead.

I walked to him with open arms. That his suffering be mine, I tried to hold him.

"No," he said. "I will not embrace darkness yet."

Instead, he pulled out his dog tags from his bloody pockets and held them towards me, but not to me. He spoke the next few words with his waning strength.

"Should you look onto me with respect in thy eyes, I would call you a fool. I deserve no less than what has fallen before me. It is the moment that I live, I breathe for. My body is broken, but I still speak. Death has not claimed me yet, and God has yet to respond."

I tried to reach for him, to calm his mind before his wounds opened further. He pushed me away and held his dog tags like they were his weapon.

"I will fight until my bones are cold, and I can no longer speak. My ancestors do not praise my deeds, for they know I must burden this alone."

I took a step towards him again, but his voice raised, no matter how much I could see the pain in his eyes grow.

"Darkness, do not tempt me. I am a man with nothing to lose, and even less to gain. My fury hath no base, nor fuel. But it burns with delight at my final hours. Challenge me, for I will live on, as long as I Carry the Fire inside of me, you can not enter. As long as there are coals, you will not take me, as long as ashes rest, I will not falter. If I should pass the flame, none shall have to hear your words."

To this, he seemed to look at me, into me. I could feel his flame begin to sputter.

"And you, child, who walks in darkness, when did you lose your fire? Do ashes remain that have yet to chill? If I alight it once more, will you join my cause? Will you Carry the Fire when I can no longer?"

Around me the battlefield was no longer dark and unmoving. I could feel a silent battle waging on, where will and evil fought. I felt a warmness in me then, and I too, fought on.
