Hey folks, guess what I've got for you? Two chapters of John "Honeycrisp" Apple at once!
Get the title? Two chapters at once is double the usual number of chapters uploaded at once, and it also doubles the amount of chapters in the story overall from two to four! Get it?!
.......shut up, I'm clever! 
Anyway, sometime last week while between shifts at work, I banged out a chapter and a half of this story in a sitting. I typed what I had up, finished the latter chapter on my next break between shifts and typed that up too. Unlike with chapter 2, I actually let these sit a couple of days before I posted them, which allowed for somewhat more effective editing on my part.
I have a decent enough idea of where I'm taking this story now, which is certainly more than I can say after writing the first chapter. It was really just me setting up a story without thinking much about the details beyond human turned Apple pony takes on the role of the patriarch of the Apple family. To be completely honest, I hadn't even thought about how Mack the horse injuring John would relate to Big Macintosh's past with Honeycrisp. Not so much anymore, thanks in small part to a bit of time to think on it and in large part to a couple people in the comments theorizing on that very subject.
That I have a better idea as to what I'm doing now doesn't mean that I'm going to upload chapters to this story more frequently, unfortunately for those who really want more of this story as quickly as possible. This is still a story that is remaining on the back burner for me as far as priority goes. Regardless, I hope you enjoy that which I've posted this day.
