Projects to Come #3

Like I said back in my journal on the 29th of January, I wanted to post my lengthy amount of future projects. For those who aren’t aware, here is the First of these journals and the Second if you’d like to see other projects I’ve brought up before. So here’s a preview of what’s to come:

Under Their Wings
Since becoming Scootaloo’s honorary big sister, Rainbow Dash has tried to be there for Scootaloo and help her try to fly. However, with her responsibilities to the Wonderbolts reserve, Scootaloo is feeling neglected by the rainbow pegasus and in her sorrow, Scootaloo gets a helping hoof from somepony else; a pegasus called Lightning Dust. A story inspired by Dr. Wolf’s series of episode ideas. I really liked it since I could see Lightning Dust reforming and I annoyed to hear that she served as like an opposite to Rainbow in some coalition of previous antagonists in the Return of King Sombra Comics Arc. If you’re interested in the video, you can find it here. While I’ll probably follow some ideas Dr. Wolf put forth in his video, I’m going to have some aspects to the story of my own.

Just Ponies
After hearing her sister is going out for the day, Luna decides to join her sister in this little escapade where one day out a lengthy lifetime, they can be ordinary ponies. A lighthearted story focused around the two sisters essentially having a day off and being just normal ponies for a change. This will be a very fun little slice of life kind of in a similar vein to the Tale of Iroh from the second season anthology episode “Tales of Ba Sing Se” from Avatar the Last Airbender

All that Glitters
After finding a special deposit of rare gems on their land, The Apples are offered and given a sizable sum for the gems. With all this money, the family is given a whole bunch of new opportunities but will this change them more than they realize? Another story based off one of Dr. Wolf’s story concept videos, in particular this one. While this sort of story has been told before in tv, movies, comics and fiction in general where average family receives sudden wealth and changes. However, Doc presents a twist on this tale that I hope I can do justice to.

The Golden Apple
After a heated discussion with her draconequus ‘friend’, Applejack and Discord enter into a bet and the orange farm mare is given a taste of the chaotic spirit’s power. She has plans to put it to good use...but can it? Yet another story inspired by one of Dr. Wolf’s concept videos, this time being this video. I thought this would be an interesting idea to explore and give some shared focus to my favorite farm mare and everyone’s favorite draconequus. I'm struggling a little bit with how AJ's powers would manifest however.

A Cup of Rainbows
After a recent Zap Apple Harvest, Applejack decides to bring her friends down to her family’s cider cellar to share a barrel or two of the infamous Zap Apple Cider. Oh, this should be good. Well here’s an ‘original idea’; the mane six getting drunk!...yeah, not the most original idea I realize but I did add a twist that I’ve not seen other ponies try as far as I know - alcoholic Zap Apple Cider. There maybe be something out there but I haven’t found it and I thought it would be funny to portray it as really hard liquor and have our heroines getting drunk off their flanks, with shenanigans ensuing.

Pushing her Buttons
Sweetie Belle has always been a romantic and has often looked for love. Even now as a full grown mare, she’s looking. However, she’s extremely flustered to find herself falling for an old friend; the goofy, video game geek Button Mash. Some cute fluff here of SweetieMash/ButtonBelle/SweetieXButton in this one. Really just kind of a funny and cute romantic comedy between the two. I’m debating about setting this in a future of the normal pony canon or in an anthro AU.

Reach for the Sky
Twilight Sparkle, a scholar and mage of the sky-raised land of Equestria, goes out on a quest to battle an impending doom. She never expected what she would need the most in this quest were friends. Even more so that those friends would be pirates. An AU somewhat inspired by One Piece, Dragon Hunters, and some concepts from StarDust, where Equestria suffered some catastrophe and is now a nation of floating islands in the sky. Twilight and Co. are ‘sky pirates’, technically more sky faring adventurers and lightning fishers who embark on an epic but somewhat familiar journey together.

The Princess and the Painter
Princess Luna never expected that she would find love, nor that said love would be a simple painter. Yet she has and the two are happy but unfortunately, being in love with an immortal is fraught with both happiness and sadness. A little tragic AU fanon where Brush Stroke and Luna became an item and we see a somewhat classic tragedy as Luna is a immortal and will watch Brush Stroke age and die.

Painting Sunset
Settling back into Equestrian society, Sunset Shimmer finds herself with a new friend in Brush Stroke. However, is their bond growing deeper than that and will the two admit it? Another romantic AU but less tragic, this one focused around Brush Stroke coupling with another of my favorite MLP characters, Sunset Shimmer.

Dark Tendrils
Things don’t seem right in Ponyville recently. Strange events have been going on like bloody murders, some ponies acting funny, and creatures that seem too frightening to have come from the Everfree Forest. In the wake of this, Rarity and Applejack start to look into things and find themselves drawn into a dark, twisted conspiracy. Kind of inspired by a short done by Oblivion Fall but I won’t say which one though some might be able to guess it. This fic in particular is me trying my hand at a grimdark fic, with some lovecraftian elements.

Fluttershy’s There and Back Again
Fluttershy only wanted to be left alone in the comfort of her cottage and the company of her animal friends. Then came the wizard Gandalf and a company of Dwarvish ponies who recruit her into becoming a member to the company to take back their ancient homeland from a fire breathing dragon. Unfortunately for Fluttershy, she has a bad habit of not being able to say no. I think the title and description kind of spell it out but this is basically a crossover/retelling of the Hobbit but ponified and with Fluttershy playing the part of Bilbo. I thought it might be a fun little exercise and project to undertake.

Bats Fluttering in the Night
When visiting the small bat pony nation of Trotsylvania, Twilight and her friends encounter a mysterious noble who is more than he appears and has some dark designs for them and the land. The title and the description on this one probably gives it away but this is a vampony fic which will have an interesting return of Flutterbat and my own little interpretation of how Vampirism began in Equestria.

Stallion’s Night
Brush Stroke goes to Canterlot to have a guys night with Hat Trick and Swift Wing with some rather interesting shenanigans going on. A spin off of Different Strokes, involving some amusing drunken shenanigans among the trio of friends.

Gold Pegasus Down
While en route escorting a powerful artifact through dangerous territory, Flash Sentry and his unit are injured and stranded near the Badlands. He and his unit must pull together if they hope to make it out alive. I’m one of the few MLP fans who doesn’t hate Flash Sentry and sees an unfortunate missed opportunity with him. Slightly inspired by an episode of Obabscribbler’s podcast related to the much maligned pegasus guard, I wanted to write my own story focused on him and a handful of guards stranded in the wilderness and having to survive in traitorous territory.

The Doctor’s Goodbye
After a long time away, the Doctor returned to Ponyville and his old companion, Twilight Sparkle. However, he’s found that things are very different for his friend and their adventures may not be able to continue. Ok, this is in a way a fanfic for the Doctor Whooves Adventures audio series by Pony in a Box Productions. This would just be a short oneshot that would take place post season 4. Just kind of my fan vision of the parting between the Doctor and Twilight.

Those are my latest projects added to the pile. In future blogs, I’ll be adding these projects to the list of progress updates and will hopefully, slowly make headway with them as I complete chapters of other projects. I hope that I can maintain the momentum of these ideas but I think with some of them being smaller projects, I shouldn’t get too overwhelmed and the brony community and the franchise may hopefully fuel my fanlove. Hopefully, I’ll have the first chapters of Different Strokes and Prodigal Pupil out before the end of this month. Keep an eye out, my pony friends.
