My Year on the Site · 1:45am Feb 4th, 2016

Greetings, everyone!

Whelp, today is the day. The day of my first FIMiversary. It has been a whole year that I have been on this site, and I can scarcely believe it. It does not seem like that long ago that I hesitatingly joined. For those not familiar with the story, let me back up a bit and explain. If you have read or heard all this before, feel free to skip ahead.

About two or so years ago, I was working late and texting with my very special somepony. I hadn't yet created an OC for the series, only a ponysona (who has not ever showed up in my stories and never will). But as I sat there and my mind started to wander, I recalled a story I had written in college and a question formed: where did the stars in Equestria come from? Well, soon a story started to form in my mind. I just needed somepony to tell it. It was then that an idea came to me, that of a wandering bard to enter the scene and provide the answer for my very special somepony and myself. At that time, she had no looks and no name. Just a cloak and a lute on her back as well as her role. Over the next few days, I came up with the name Lyric, and after my very special somepony suggested that she be colored like parchment, I created her in this pony maker. I was ecstatic! Suddenly she was more real to me, more alive.

Over the next few months, I continued to tell my very special somepony different Lyric tales via text, and finally set to writing them down. After that and after a disastrous roleplay that Lyric was a part of, I had three stories under my belt. My very special somepony and brony friends would always tell me, "You should join FIMFiction!" I was hesitant. I loved Lyric and her stories, as did they. But... what if the rest of the world didn't? I mulled it over for a while.

And then, almost one year ago from today, Monty Oum, creator of the web series RWBY, unexpectedly passed away. It was a shock as he was so young, and I was a fan of the series. However, his friends and loved ones were eulogizing Monty, saying how he was extremely passionate and always looking to do something and to make some contribution to this world. It gave me the last bit of motivation to join this site, and so I did. I soon posted my first story, and gained my first followers. (Thank you Protopony350, Meridian Prime and The Daring Cookie!) And the more I posted, the more Lyric and I gained loyal followers. But more than that, we have also gained friends. Time and again I have said that joining this site is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I still stand by that. I wouldn't have met all of you otherwise, and I would not have such a wonderful fan base or such wonderful, amazing and caring friends. I don't know if you all know just how much you have made me laugh, made me feel welcome, or just how happy you all have made me over this year. And I hope you all know just how grateful I am to have met you, to call you my followers, and to call you my friends.

Now, to celebrate this first year and at the loving urging of my very special somepony, I have created an Ask Lyric blog! Is there something you want to know about her, or about the world of Equestria? Then please, ask! She'd love to answer. Just know that this will not be an "Ask" blog that uses art in its answers as I am not a visual artist by any means. Also, please keep in mind that this is my first time using Tumblr, so there may be a few hiccups along the way as I try to figure things out.
