cleverpun's Concise Critiques #3 · 11:39am Jan 29th, 2016
I go into every story hoping for something that will be worth commenting at (great) length on. Unfortunately, not everything warrants prolonged critiquing. Here is a selection of reviews/critiques, in two sentences or less.
Pie of a Category 19 Storm by Super Trampoline: The story doesn't use its gimmick well (if at all), and the attempts at humor are blunt and sloppy. Even taken as just a spectacle, it fails to engage the reader or do anything interesting.
No Matter What You Get by Nerdz: The story is written adequately, in spite of several typos. It tries far too hard to tug at heartstrings, however, particularly in the final scene.
Fractured by Nyronus: Contains typos, awkward phrasing, and excessive/inaccurate Early Modern English. Another Nightmare Moon Origin Story, but it's so brusque that it doesn't end up being particularly interesting or memorable.
Ouch :(
So, years later, thanks to City of Door's master review list thingy, I find out about this review, of all things.
You're right. That story sucked.
I'm just surprised that anyone cared enough to say so!
Anyway, have a nice day.
