Working not at all hard · 12:52am Jan 25th, 2016
Another week goes by, another blog to type up and post. This week I've been crafting up some ideas for another story while also working on PONI. While I'd like to say it's been a productive week, I really can't lie and say it has. While PONI is coming along swimmingly, it's all I've had time for in my off hours.
My job has been a nightmare lately, mostly due to my work place wrapping up a project that I'm part of.
I am the Head of IT and Webmaster, meaning I fix peoples computers, manage servers, and edit our website. Head of IT is just a title though, as I'm literally the only IT. So you can imagine one person working on everything technology related is already pretty draining, right? It's actually pretty easy, mostly because I know how to fix most issues. Lately however, one of our wireless routers has been acting up.
Now, a problematic router isn't the issue. What the issue is, is another IT who is much older than I, trying to explain to me why they are malfunctioning. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I can't be rude and tell him to shove off, mostly because he's in good with my bosses and he's an unpaid helper. The reason I mentioned him being much older than myself, is because he has a desire to teach me and help me further. Especially bugging me in the off hours.
The thing is, he's not a teacher nor does he have a degree in, well, anything. In the technology field, not having a degree isn't really a big deal. This is because you can get certified by different companies and in different fields. It's the equivalent, if sometimes not better, to having a college degree.
Like him, I do not have a degree, but I am in the process of being certified which is something he has never done either. So learning from someone equivalent to me, except years older, does not really have an appeal. Maybe if I got into metal working and became an apprentice, then it would make sense.
But I've rambled on enough for today about my job. Hopefully this week I'll be able to resume normalcy and enjoy my inspiration in the off hours, without annoying calls and texts.
