Chapter 12 Is here. · 2:33pm Jan 10th, 2016
This blog post is about Chapter 12 and the future of Modulation. It will have some spoilers about Chapter 12, and they will be marked.
Thank you so much for dealing with my second longest dry spell. I can already tell at least a handful of you have read the latest chapter. I'd like to talk about it, and what's next, if you don't mind.

Chapter 12 is a critical chapter. Like the last three chapters it's a turning point for the book. It's been plotted since summer 2012, and probably outlined shortly afterward, and it's document finally created this past July. However I think it was one of the fast chapters I wrote before getting to the editing stage. This chapter was fun to write for two reasons.
First of all, Derpy. Derpy has had two appearances so far, first in chapter 4 in 2013, and second in chapter 8 last year. She has been fun to see from afar, but this chapter really brought her personality to light, and her situation, and her scene was a delight to write. For such a dreary series of events, her presence is a nice change. She understands sadness, however. There's more to this mare than what you get from Slice of Life. Personally I'm eager to see her intentionally try to help AJ defend Ponyville from any potential threats. I hope she doesn't mess things up. That's not foreshadowing by the way, but there definitely is some in her appearance.
Second, the big scene. Or technically the two big scenes, both of the AJ and FS ones. Some people may have been wondering since 2013 how Fluttershy hiding Pinkie Pie would play out, and there it is. Losing a friend is hard, especially in such a tragic way, and sometimes you're not thinking clearly or making the best choices you can. There will be consequences. These scenes were hard to write, especially the first one, but I'm very proud of how they came out. It's a big shake up to the status quo, almost rivaling the initial call to adventure in Chapter 2.
I hope you enjoyed it. All the feedback I've gotten enjoyed it, but wonder where's the story going, and I assure you it is going many places. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
The next chapters may take take a minute. Not as long as this one, but likely long stoll. The Chapter 13 already had a eight thousand words. Chapter 14 has only 200, unfortunately, but Chapter 15 though has 12 thousand words already.
And one more thing. I've been a little dishonest with you regarding the characters in my story. When I started this story you could tag way more than six, so I didn't worry that I was hiding some. However, now there's a stricter limit, so this is a heads up that just because someone disappears from headlining doesn't mean they're not important any more, it just means I'm trying to cover my bases.
