Daring Do and the Red Shoe Diary

For years, since nearly the start of the series' rise to international fame, the rumors have persisted: Was there an adult-oriented Daring Do story? Has our intrepid explorer gone down paths far more sordid and saucy than her audience could have imagined?

    Red Shoe Diaries: The Return

    *blows the dust off*

Yikes. I let this sit for way, WAY too long. As I'm typing this I'm realizing it's been 4 years, since this story last updated. That's horrendous, and also entirely my fault. True, lots of life has happened to me, and then there's the world going mad besides. But still, I should NOT have let this story lapse like this. For that, readers, you have my apologies.

A Pony Walks Into a Flamenco Joint... · 4:01am Jan 6th, 2016

and witnesses a beautiful spectacle... while yours truly lets his inner writer geek out in silence. (More after the jump!)

We were out of town over new years, and as usual, we spent some time seeking out food, drink, and sights that the tourists usually miss so we could experience our destination with a bit more local flair. Part of that search led us to a well regarded Spanish restaurant that specialized in paellas and a wide range of tapas. The food and the award winning sangria were already tempting, but then I noticed that they also hosted live Flamenco shows on weekend nights. :pinkiegasp:

Needless to say, a certain red maned pony joined us in the carry on bag, and then at our front row table. :scootangel:

So, does this scene look at all familiar?

It sure did for our favorite flower vendor! And she didn't even have to cross an ocean either! ;)

If nothing else, this makes we want to visit Spain even more now, if only to see Flamenco in its ancestral home. The show we watched was beautiful and heart pounding. I described the footwork at one point in the story as akin to rolling thunder claps, and in reality, it was much like that. The speed and power the people on stage displayed was jaw dropping - to say nothing of their utter precision and grace. I can't say I've ever seen such an emotionally stirring dance form before, but it was well worth it.

So, that's all on that. Just wanted to share a bit of the experience with you all. I hope everyone's doing well this week!

Cheers!

The Spanish and Latin dances really are a sight to behold, whether Spanish or South American. It takes dedication, but it's quite impressive to see a well done samba, flamenco, or tango.

My old Spanish teacher back in high school also taught a dancing class. I never attended, but she'd show us videos, and it was super cool to see. Just imagine the tradition that goes into those dances.

Is it your goal in life to make me uber jealous GMP? *lol* That is awesome sir!

Hope you had a good time
