A good story isn't measured by how long it is, but by how long it stays with you.

A mare finds herself the object of a deranged stallion's interests while another struggles to hold together the pieces of her life.

The Story My Heart Desires · 8:51pm Jan 2nd, 2016

Hey, guys. Gonna keep this short, cause I just put in 1200 words and I'm really sleepy right now. (Night shift really screws with any semblance of a sleep schedule you could ever hope for.)

Slow going on my end. Mother Dearest has a lot of words written, but with how closely-knit the whole thing is, I don't want to publish any more than I already have out for it; and Flock Together is still just as dead as [Transcendence spoilers warning!] Dashie and Scoot's relationship [/Transcendence spoilers warning!]. We'll Frankenstein that soon enough.

The trouble I've been having with Mother Dearest (which has sprung up recently, counteracting the motivation I had for it last blog post) has left me in a bit of a writing slump because ensuring all these storylines line up and have equal and sufficient screen time is a lot more stressful than I thought it'd be. Wrap that up with what I knew going in would be a questionable and, even moreso, difficult moral to nail ('we are the victims of our choices, and so are the ones we love,' which I don't hesitate to spoiler, because it's right there in the EqD feature) and you've got one Corejo that feels very much like this: lijkfadjlk;vjlk;vadjk;la cg;ioh ;uoi jsg dfhjklsa ijhas fhncvsgd

On that note, I've turned to comfort writing. Instead of physically, mentally, and emotionally beating down Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash or a couple OCs time and again, spitting in their faces, and then taking their lunch money, I've turned to doing the exact same to Luna (plus one OC). Because everything is better with Luna. Except lunch. Because I took her lunch money and now she can't buy any to sit with me (I'm a heartless, sadistic bastard, but that's what you all love about me, right?).

But really, that brokenness of Luna's is what's pulling me so strongly to finish this [Dark/Romance]. Funnily enough (or, as I should say: as is the norm), this expected 20k fic will be longer than taht, because of this brokenness and how much it deserves to stand at the forefront of the story. How much larger will it be? I can't say for sure. But this is another story I want to take the time to craft properly before release, as it's getting pretty philosophical, and I have a feeling I'm going to need to back-fill some into earlier chapters. I'd rather not have to retcon that sort of thing. Transcendence was big enough of a retcon, as veteran readers will remember.

But to the point of Luna's brokenness, there's a lot on that subject I want to talk about, some of which might make it into the story outright, but for the most part it's outside the scope of this blog. I'll throw up another sometime in the near future once Into the Dark leaves the station.

It's a roller coaster ride you won't want to miss.

P.S. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year, and I hope this blog wasn't too rambly in my sleep-deprived state!

My new year's resolution:
-150k words (a fact to point out: this is about 80% of what I've written in my entire 5-year pony-writing career. We're buckling down now.)
-get good at drawing
-get good at piano (and possibly put something up on YouTube for you guys!)

So far:
-1200 words (I'll get this ticker thing back up and running on my profile)
-I've quite the mountain to climb yet
-Three Blind Mice? Yeah, that's about all I can do so far...
