King Sombra was defeated, but only to be replaced by Queen Chrysalis, a more deceptive and manipulative foe than her predecessor. With training from the war against Sombra, Pinkie Pie finds herself as a defender against the Changeling army alongside former soldiers in arms and with new friends.
But, when Pinkie comes across a not-so-dead fallen King Sombra, she finds herself making an alliance with a former enemy in hopes of defeating a newer one.
...So this is gonna be a sequel to a story that's not even written yet and this one, unlike the other, is gonna have some shippy undertones. Who the hell am I kidding, it's gonna be shipfic, ok.
AU Background:
- Nightmare Moon did return, but because the Elements of Harmony were not utilized, upon her defeat, Princess Luna was not able to be saved, which is why she didn't show up in this timeline.
- Chrysalis' attack on Canterlot occurred (the wedding could have happened, I dunno), but because the Mane Six weren't there to stop her, Cadence sacrificed herself by lending her power to push back the Changeling army.
- Twilight served in the military alongside her brother after she failed to get into Celestia' school for magic and she never gained her talent for magic because of it.
The Crystal War Timeline(In this verse):
- In this world, Sombra and Pinkie battled during the Crystal War and they had levels of respect for being able to fare against the other (but they still hated the other).
- Sombra never forgot Pinkie. He only knows her name when he heard Maud call out to her when she got injured and he's never been able to shake her.
- Sombra started calling "Pinks" to taunt her. (Much in the same way Malfoy says, "Potter," in Harry Potter.)
- During their first battle, Pinkie was the only one of the demolition crew (her squad) to land a hit on Sombra, much less actually injure him.
- Sombra always got away, but time after time, he found himself coming back to Pinkie because she always took something of his. First time it was his crown. Second time it was his cape. Third time it was his dignity.
- Pinkie was constantly teased by Rainbow's crew about how she only got close to Sombra because he thought she was cute. (Well, they weren't wrong about that, I mean, look at her, she's adorable.) In the end, though, they all knew she could kick their asses if she wanted to.
- Whenever Sombra was seen on the battlefield, he wouldn't let anyone but Pinkie get close to him. No one but her was worth his time on the battlefield.
- Sombra could easily heal his wounds with his dark magic, but he likes to let them heal on their own as a reminder of Pinkie and how he shouldn't let her get so close.
- When Sombra was overthrown and Chrysalis took over, Pinkie felt a sense of emptiness over never actually getting to defeat him herself.
The Chrysalis Resistance(Post Crystal War):
- Pinkie gained her talent as a party pony after a good raid on the Changelings and she managed to get the party going better than anyone else. (Her friends received their talents in different ways. Rarity seeing the beauty in the things around her. Fluttershy interacting with forest critters. etc.)
- She found Sombra when she was out on patrol with Fluttershy and she was shocked to find him roaming around the Everfree. She was even more shocked (and even a little touched) that he remembered her. She still knocked him out, though.
- Zecora had him imprisoned and she used special concoctions to prevent him from using his magic. She tried to speak to him, but he never responded to her or he just dodged her questions by being a little shit. He knocked it off whenever Pinkie was around.
- Rarity, Fluttershy, and AJ all figure that Sombra and Pinkie had a romantic history together since she's the only one he'd talk to. Rainbow and Maud would jump to her defense, but when they're alone Rainbow would be like, "Ya know..." and Maud would just go, "NO."
- Sombra would get to know Pinkie's new friends and he'd warm up to them. They'd all hate his guts for the shit he put them through back through the war, but as he helps them with the resistance, they begin to grow respect for him.
- Sometime down the line, Sombra and Pinkie grow feelings for each other, but they never admit it because they feel like it can't be real.
- One day, Sombra is approached by Pinkie and she admits having feelings for him, which he admits to having in return... But as they kiss, he finds out it's actually a Changeling hoping to gain info and a quick meal. He's angry for being tricked, but also shocked at actually confirming that he does love Pinkie. He avoids her because he doesn't want his feelings to get in the way and he fears falling in love for the first time.
- During battle, Sombra goes up against Chrysalis and she taunts him for growing soft. He fights her, but he's badly injured as she's grown powerful. Pinkie saves him and fights against Chrysalis, where the Queen tells her about Sombra's feelings for her. She escapes and Pinkie is left to wonder how she feels.
- Sombra comes to and Pinkie is watching over him. She admits what the Queen told her and Sombra tries to push her away, but Pinkie tells him that she feels the same way.
("God, this is so screwed up."
"Yeah..."
"We used to beat the shit out of each other, you know."
"Yeah..."
"And now we're in love with each other when it's the fucking apocalypse."
"Yeah..."

*this starts playing and basically you get the gist*)
- Zecora kicks them out of the infirmary because, "WE TREAT THE WOUNDED HERE, YOU SAVAGES." Rainbow and AJ can't stop fucking laughing while Rarity and Shy ask for the deets. Sombra wishes he was still dead and Maud considers granting him that wish.
- Pinkie kept some of the stuff she stole from Sombra back during the Crystal War, and she tries to give it back to him. He tells her he doesn't need his crown anymore because he already has something better than what it gave him: her. (fucking leave me be it's in the am where I'm at)
- During battle, Sombra and Pinkie help each other out while calling each other pet names and it takes the Changelings off-guard every fucking time.
("Pinks, I need some back up over here!"
"Got it, sweetheart!"
"...I did not sign up for this shit."
"QUICK, AIR TEAM, STRIKE NOW!"
"I am content with death at this point, to be honest.")
- How this ends doesn't matter. They have each other's back even if things go to shit and they'll die together or triumph together.
Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna be up a bit longer because my brother's coming home and I need to be able to let him in since he doesn't have a key.

Well, the fun thing about the AUs from the finale is that I've made the decision to include different endings come the end of my other fic (if I ever finish writing it, hehe). Like, a Chrysalis Ending, which would lead to this verse (or this version of it, my god, how complicated), a Discord ending, or a Nightmare Moon ending. Just random ways for people to see how these worlds could tie in together. I definitely wondered about the Nightmare one, though I haven't really said anything about it. Pinkie would gain her talent for party stuff after the war was over and then Sombra would join forces with Nightmare (long story), and eventually they'd meet up again because Pinkie works for Nightmare as her royal party planner and event coordinator.
Sombra: So, you work for the Nightmare? Funny to see you serving yet another monarch.
Pinkie: Nice of you to join the club.
Sombra: ...F*** off.
