Author's Notes for My Roommate Is Not a Vampire · 4:56am Jan 2nd, 2016

Hello, everyone! These are the author's notes for My Roommate Is Not a Vampire. They are intended to be read after the story. I'm putting the notes in a blog post because I personally find author's notes at the end of a story somewhat distracting.

Anyway, this is my first published fanfiction and I'm looking forward to the whole experience of drama and meeting lovers and haters and/or being ignored!

I write fanfiction because I love MLP and because I want to develop my creative writing skills.

This first fic is Vinyl and Octavia because I am a giant fan of Octascratch. The idea for the story came in the middle of watching some movie around a month ago. I alt-tabbed to OpenOffice and started typing a detailed outline and accidentally wrote out the entire first draft in around two hours. Oops.

I'm a big fan of vampires but I don't take them too seriously. I read Kim Newman's Anno Dracula sometime around when I wrote the first draft. That's where “gum sheaths” come from. I found the term absolutely hilarious and it was natural to put it in the fic.

I wrote this story in OpenOffice. I like listening to music while I write, usually stuff I can use half my brain semi-tuning out so I can use the remaining half to write. I listened to M.I.A.'s Paper Planes at a very high volume on repeat while revising for the final draft. I listened to Coffee from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker on repeat during my final pass before submitting the story.

The cover image is by the most talented namelesshero2222 I used GIMP to crop the picture and erase the record "brooch" on the front of her cape. I also made the cape a little darker and made her eyes a little more red.

Anyway, if you have a question then please ask and I'd LOVE to hear your comment on the story, especially if there's a lot of detail! And I genuinely hope you enjoyed reading the story. That's what's most important here. Fiction ought to improve the lives of its readers and reading a good comedy ought to put a smile on your face!

So if I warmed your heart with fuzzy feelings or gave you a smile then I have definitely succeeded. Have a good day!

I loved your fic. It's cute and very funny. Do you intend on writing more cute/funny ScratchTavia fics anytime soon?

I'm working on a longer Octascratch romance comedy starring Vinyl, Octavia, and Bon Bon but it is not as fluffy and will probably be rated Teen or higher because of DRAMA!

I'm about half done with it at 19,680 words (according to Scrivener.) I've never done a story this long before and I'm putting all my writing energy into it and I'm super excited about it! It's called "My Lover on the Mareskatonic."

I have to say, I'm really not into supernatural (maybe a scientific one), but it was pleasure to hear this at Scribbler's channel :rainbowkiss:. Certainly a warm hearted fic which might even get attention :pinkiegasp::heart:. I especially love writers who try to impersonate or mimic the perso of characters!

Also, I have this sixth sense for references either I know or don't know - well, sort of. But again, not a fan of supernatural, but I'm sure you're creativity has made you tease those specific audience. :raritywink:

Other than that, I bid you farewell and hope you're successful in all your endeavors! Maybe join a few groups and such. You can always find people with ideas who want others to write for them, a helpful community on questions on certain topics, or just meet new friends! :pinkiehappy:

Best Wishes,

And have some of this while writing:
