I'm a brony and a Pinkie Pie fan but I like all of the mane six, as well as Spike. I hope to provide some entertaining and interesting fanfics for the Brony community.

Special Re-Review: Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship

While we now know that this has to take place not just before Season 8 but before the events of the 2017 FiM movie, it first premiered in February of 2018, about a month before Season 8 of FiM hit the airwaves. Interestingly, the Discovery Family broadcast omitted several scenes that were later released as part of an "extended" version. As for the writer, it was none other than Nick Confalone,

    Episode Re-Review: Uncommon Bond

After the absolute disaster that was "Secrets and Pies", Season 7 really needed something to redeem it and give it the chance to go out on a high note, especially now that the big 2017 movie had come and gone, and the show's future was still uncertain. Josh Haber, after having returned to the story editor's chair and ultimately taking back the reigns fully from Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco

    Happy Birthday, Kathleen Barr

Today is Kathleen Barr's birthday. She is the talented woman who voiced Trixie and Queen Chrysalis in FiM, as well a host of other one-off or otherwise minor roles. And, apparently, she was planned to be the voice of Princess Celestia originally.

    Episode Re-Review: Secrets and Pies

*Sigh*, might as well get this over with. When this episode first came out, I didn't think it would be possible for any episode to dethrone "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" for the worst episode of FiM in my book, but somehow this episode found a way to do that. It doesn't help that it had its big secret accidentally exposed early thanks to an IDW comic getting leaked ahead of time, so we

Top Ten Worst Songs From MLP FiM · 3:50am Dec 30th, 2015

I've talked about the best songs the show has had to offer over the course of five seasons, but I've never really talked about the worst ones. Until now. I think it's safe to say that not every song is a smash hit, there are a lot of songs that have for one reason or another, failed to to impress. So, as much as I hate to do this, let's talk about some of those songs in a bit more detail to determine why they are on this list. And remember, this list is by no means offical, and I mean no disrespect to either Hasbro or the DHX staff.

10. Flim Flam Miracle Curative Tonic (From: Leap of Faith)
This may come as a surprise, considering how much I harp on about the episode Flim and Flam debuted, but I don't hate the song from it. It's an effective parody of "We've Got Trouble" from "The Music Man", and it's definitely catchy, despite how it contributes to the flaws of the episode it appears in. This song, on the other hand, is completely forgettable, and even recycles the chanting crowd from Flim and Flam's first song. Considering we get no motive for Flim and Flam's actions in the episode other than them just wanting to con sick and injured ponies out of their bits for no good reason, this song lacks any degree of enjoyment. Flim and Flam are bland villans that clearly didn't deserve to be brought back.

9. Behold! Princess Twilight Sparkle (From: Magical Mystery Cure)
This song is short, but pretty much unnecessary and can be cut without missing anything. I do like the feel of a religious hymn that the song has, but that's about all it has going for it. Considering how many songs were in "Magical Mystery Cure" this was one of two songs that ultimately didn't do much to stand out.

8. Pinkie Pie's Pig Dance (From: Babycakes)
It's really saying something when this song is bad enough to make babies cry, especially considering that at this point, "Smile, Smile, Smile" had already been leaked, so going into "Baby Cakes" many people thought they were going to get that song and not this song. It's a song that anyone could come up with, and even if that was the intent it's not done well. You can expect to see a lot of songs that intentionally tried to be bad to end up on this list. It would seem that FiM is just not capable of working with songs that are of a "So bad, it's good" quality. They can do cringe comedy correctly, but it seems that trying to extend that comedy to their songs ends badly.

7. The Heart Carol a.k.a The Fire of Friendship (From: Hearth's Warming Eve)
With the events of "The Mane Attraction" it seems this song lost its only legs to stand on as an inclusion into an episode that provided practically no answers, only more questions, in what can only be described as an attempt at worldbuilding that completely failed. With a much better song likely being Equestria's national anthem, this song feels pointless, and it only adds to the questions that "Hearth's Warming Eve" doesn't answer. Even "Hearthbreakers" missed a chance to answer whether or not this song had a point.

6. You're a Cranky Doodle Donkey (From: A Friend in Deed)
Obvious rip off of "Yankie Doodle" is obvious. That alone tells you everything you need to know about this song, it only further hammers home a reference that I'm sure everyone could guess from the name of the new character in "A Friend in Deed". Only one other song in the same episode proved to be more pointless than this one, and considering we got treated to "Smile, Smile, Smile" that says a lot.

5. You Gotta Share, You Gotta Care (From: Over A Barrel)
They might as well have just included the line "It's just Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie" and/or "Pinkie Pie, you are so random" to explain why this spoonfeeding of the intended moral gets ignored. It still makes no sense why either Sheriff Silverstar or Chief Thunderhooves would let one song affect the entire peace talks, even if they don't like the song that is no excuse to not negotiate with each other. The song was not mocking either of their species, in fact it was trying to show that they were more alike than they thought. And yet Twilight still "borrows" some of this song's lyrics for her friendship report, and we have to have Pinkie Pie remind us that she was the one who originally used them.

4. Cutie Mark Crusaders Theme Song a.k.a We Are The Cutie Mark Crusaders (From: The Show Stoppers)
Even doing cringe comedy correctly cannot save this song, when the CMC have not only gotten much better songs in the time since this song came out, but also got their cutie marks which were not at all related to the talents they did for this performance, or the ones they ignored throughout the entire episode this song was in. Because of "Crusaders of The Lost Mark" we no longer have to worry about the CMC ever sliding back down to this level of stupidity that was so painful to watch. Madeline Peters actually couldn't keep a straight face while recording because of how badly she was forced to sing, so they had to cover it up.

3. Cranky Doodle Joy (From: A Friend in Deed)
At least "You're A Cranky Doodle Donkey" was a blink and you'll miss it song, but this song came right at the end of the episode and was even acknowledged in universe, so there's no way you could pretend this song didn't happen. It probably wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't utterly pointless, and lacking any reason to exisit.

2. Life in Equestria (From: Magical Mystery Cure)
Pretty much every season finale since Season 2 has had to end with some kind of pop song from Twilight that shows everything is all sunshine and rainbows, in case the show doesn't get renewed for another season. But out of all the songs to close out a season, this is by far the weakest, because it is a reprise of a song that is only there to reassure the fans that everything is fine, and ultimately ended with a scene that was retconed at the beginning of Season 4.

1. Make This Castle A Home (From: Castle, Sweet Castle)
From the very beginning, this song was doomed to fail. It sounds way too similar to "Art Of The Dress", which was a much better song in a much better episode. It also opens up with Ashliegh Ball weirdly getting autotuned when she sings for Rainbow Dash, even though it's only for that one verse. Any hope "Castle, Sweet Castle" had of delivering on what many people wanted to see was all but crushed when this song came out. For some reason, it seems that they wanted to place the focus onto a B plot that makes the rest of the mane six seem like they don't know Twilight at all, and would rather decorate the castle according to what would make them feel at home. When you're helping someone else decorate a place, it's only natural you should at least ask them what they might like. And unless you're an expert on interior design and/or the individual who requested your help gave you complete freedom to decorate however you want, there is no reason for you to disregard the fact that it's not for you that you are decorating. They also repeat the hook way too many times. Maybe if this song had been cut, and the B plot changed or dropped all together, "Castle, Sweet Castle" would've turned out better. As it stands, this is probably the weakest song in the entire show. It may be the only song from Season 5 to appear on this list, but it's really saying something when this is probably one of the biggest stains on an otherwise impressive season.

And there you have it.

in what can only be described as an attempt at worldbuilding that completely failed

To be fair to the episode:
1. It was still entertaining.
2. It was a play, so of course things are going to be embellished. Plus, the events of the episode could take place before Discord's original reign.

It still makes no sense why either Sheriff Silverstar or Chief Thunderhooves would let one song affect the entire peace talks

Well, Equestrians seem to have a problem of letting their opinion on one thing dictate all of their actions in another area.

As for the Cutie Mark Crusaders' theme song, I actually consider it to be one of the best songs in the series. And not for the humor value, I genuinely really enjoy it.
Heck, if you want a bad version of it to listen to, try either the Romanian dub or the Ukranian dub. They both fail at it, but for different reasons.

It sounds way too similar to "Art Of The Dress", which was a much better song in a much better episode.

Really? I've seen the episode dozens of times, and I've never noticed any similarities between the two.
Plus, I kind of prefer "Make This Castle a Home" to "Art of the Dress".

It also opens up with Ashliegh Ball weirdly getting autotuned when she sings for Rainbow Dash, even though it's only for that one verse.

Honestly, I kind of like that segment of the song. Somehow the autotune adds charm to it instead of removing it.

As for the song as a whole, even though it probably IS one of the weaker ones from the season, I still can't consider it to be a bad song. Like the rest of the songs in the series, it's catchy and pleasant to listen to.

Heck, I can't even pick the show's 5 weakest songs, let alone ten.
There are really only two that I can say I don't enjoy all that much:

Pinkie Pie's pig song, which feels REALLY juvenile, even considering that it was an attempt by Pinkie Pie, who at least acts like the youngest member of the mane 6, to entertain babies that are only a month old.
Generosity: It's my least favorite song in the entire series. And my problems with it are as follows:
1. It feels WAY too on the nose. It felt like the show staff was attempting to remind us that Rarity is the spirit of generosity, and trying to make up for the times when she wasn't that generous before, by going overboard with it. Heck, even the song title indicates that.
2. It feels like it goes on for too long. If they trimmed off maybe 10 seconds of it or so, it would have been just about the right length.
3. It's not really as catchy as the other songs in the serie.
4. It honestly isn't as pleasant sounding as the rest of the songs in the series, especially some of the times Rarity sings the word "Generosity".

Gotta disagree on the Hearth's Warming Carol. The full length version is actually fairly spectacular.

3651781 Except that I'm pretty sure that's NOT what the episode should've focused on. Also, "The Rules of Rarity" while it does sound similar to "Art of The Dress", doesn't sound like it borrows the exact same melody and rhytm, just slightly altered.

Everyone's reaction and annoyance to pinkie's you gotta share song made me pissed at everyone. I hate it when characters show they obviously annoyed by pinkie. If I had friends like that I would have self esteem issues!
