Three Hearth's Warming stories · 9:44pm Dec 26th, 2015

"The Season of Grace" by Willow Wren: Beautifully written, and doesn't rush the ship even though it's only about 2500 words. I had some intellectual reservations along the lines of "But why, logically, do these two love each other?" Of course it helps that I already know from watching the show that FlutterMac is MLP's OTP. But, if I must task my old grey cells with understanding romance, actions speak louder than words: What other pony would court Fluttershy this way, with night and silence? What other mare would understand? Retell the story as AppleDash, FlashLight, Mauxie, or Octascratch, and it would be grotesquely wrong.

"Hearth's Warming Cookies" by Everyday: A very sweet and very logical answer to the question, Why do we leave milk & cookies out at Hearth's Warming? This was originally a 442-word story, which Everyday expanded, because knighty has declared under-1000 word stories are unworthy of fimfiction. The 1000-word version is bloated, but slightly more clear, and if you don't reconstruct the timeline properly, you'll miss the point entirely. So take your pick.

"Empty" by Inquisitor M: Another touching Celestia+Luna story, 1000 words.

Wow, thank you for featuring my story. Having expanded it, as I look back on the original version, I realize there is definitely room to miss the point. And I agree, at 1,000 words, it's a bit bloated. I think the story was at its best at 600-700 words.

But still, thank you again. I'm glad you liked it.

Mauxie... That's an unusual inclusion. Is it because you saw those comics by FouDubulbe?

Thank you, belatedly, for your thoughtful review of "The Season of Grace."
