State of the Author(?) Report: End of 2015 Edition · 12:21pm Dec 25th, 2015
This is Lapis-Lazuli.
And I have graduated college with two associates degrees and two technical certificates. It was a huge weight off my shoulders, one I have been carrying for nearly twelve years of my life. I am proud of myself, but I am also conscious that what comes next is going to be vital: Namely finding a job.
In the two weeks since school has ended, I have distanced myself from a lot of things. I have done this primarily to try and relax, to revive my creative instrument and perhaps get back to writing. So far, I haven't managed much, but I am working on it. With that being said, I wanted to send out a message to everyone.
I am deeply sorry that I have not managed to craft any words for many months now. I know you all enjoy my writing and I just as much enjoy writing for you to read, but I have simply had no mental or creative energy for some time. All of it sucked away by the Real World kind of sucking. Since writing words has functionally turned out to not be a profitable institution for me yet, (A matter which I have already publicly ranted about multiple times) I am still going to be limited in my time I can devote to it until I can find work that will support me while I further peruse creative endeavors.
For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting a new Code story, or a new Twilight Shadow story, I deeply thank you for your patience and your support. I wish I could tell you when either of these things will come to pass, but right now I simply do not know. I have exactly four months of rent saved up and six months until my student loans begin to come due. This means that finding a real-world job (Or some other way to make approximately 2 thousand dollars a month to cover my expenses) must take total priority over all of my other desires, including writing fictions I have since gained many ideas for.
Some of you out there have become close friends, and for that I am thankful. I deeply hope someday to make friends with more of you, and to continue the wonderful stories that have dominated my moments of freedom. (I may finally have the creative drive to write The Code of Dissonance and the story of Emerald Flare and to finish The Great And Magnificent Seven, but that's a story for another time.)
This post is not to make excuses or to promise when and what content is coming. Only to let all of you know that I have not left the fandom, nor have I given up on writing fic. I am simply in the position that real-life must come first before my dreams.
I hope you all have a merry holiday, and a happy new year. May it bring many exciting adventures to come.
And I remain, humbly yours,
Lapis-Lazuli
glad to hear you are sticking around
Good to see you're just on an extended break. I wish you luck in your search for a job, and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
