[Oreonna One-Shot] Visiting Mommy · 5:41pm Dec 24th, 2015

Hey, everyone! With every new one-shot I post on Fanfiction, I'll post here in the blogs. At the bottom of each blog like this, I'll link you to the actual site so you can view it there. Be sure to leave a Favorite and a Follow while you're there as well, as that helps me out a ton! Okay, everyone; have fun!

This One-Shot takes place during Oreonna's childhood. In this universe, she's a kid who lives with her dad and her parents are divorced due to certain thing. What those things are we may never know, but whateves; I may explain them in another One-Shot. Because remember, this fic isn't limited to JUST Oreonna. Be sure to Favorite and Follow so you can get updates whenever the story is... y'know... updating.

Once or twice every month or so, Tukson would allow his daughter to spend some time with her mother so they could get to know each other some more. It was no secret that Oreonna thought her dad was amazing. And for good reason! Not only did he single-handedly defeat all the high leaders of the White Fang in his bookshop of all places, including Oreonna's mother, but he also liked to show off his abilities for his daughter as well. He promised her that one day he would teach her how to fight for herself, elevating her excitement even further.

But alas, today was not that day. It's not that Oreonna hated her mother; far from it, actually. She loved her mother just as much as her father, and was usually happy to finally get a chance to see her again. The only problem was... well...

"Daddy!" Oreonna whined a bit "I really don't feel like going to see mommy today! She's so quiet and boring..."

"Oreo, sweetie, that's no way to talk about your mommy," Tukson gave her a rather stern look "And she's not that bad. She just... lives a quieter lifestyle than us. Besides, I know you still love her inside that tiny little heart of yours..."

He picked up his five-year-old daughter and swung her around a bit, causing her to giggle near-uncontrollably.

"D-Daddy! Stop!" she laughed "I get it! Mommy is just as cool as you!"

"Oh, well, I wouldn't exactly say THAT," Tukson chuckled a bit, putting his daughter back down on the ground and stretching a bit "Ahh... damn, these old bones aren't what they used to be."

"Daddy, no bad words!" Oreonna gasped a bit.

"Oreo, I'm an adult," Tukson crouched down and ruffled his daughter's white and black hair, as well as her cute little faunus cat ears "I'm allowed to use bad words. But I promise you that when you're an adult, you can make as many bad words as you want."

"For real?"

"For real."

"Okay!" Oreonna nodded in acceptance. The two then began their walk to her mother's residence.

It was a nice day in the summertime; the birds were singing, the flowers were blooming... It was a nice day for a game of catch. And there they walked, the two-part faunus family consisting of a young girl and her father. Both wore the appropriate clothing for weather like this, though Tukson insisted his normal work clothes would be enough. Oreonna on the other hand wore a white spring jacket with a pink shirt and baggy black pants. Her little white rain boots attempted to stomp in every puddle possible.

This continued until the two finally reached Oreonna's mother's house. It wasn't much, but it was big enough to allow space for two people. Honestly, she wouldn't have it any other way. Without waiting too long, Tukson went up to the front door and knocked.

A few seconds later, the door was answered by a rather small woman that one could easily mistake as a child had it not been for her breast size and hips. This was clearly a person who gave birth at least once. Still, she had a certain child-like demeanor about her that one could still easily mistake her for a young teenager, when in fact she was around the same age as Tukson.

"Hey, Neo!" Tukson grinned "Just here to drop off Oreo for the day, like we talked about. So, uh... Here you go!"

Neo smiled as she looked down towards the little girl standing next to her father and adorably holding his hand. Both girls tilted their head a little when examining the other. Like mother like daughter, one could suppose.

"Um... h-hi, mommy," Oreonna shyly greeted, causing Neo to giggle a bit. She looked back at Tukson and nodded in confirmation. With a look of understanding, Tukson released his daughter's hand and allowed her to inch closer and closer to her mother until finally was on her side. Both adults laughed at this.

"Hahaha! Ah... Okay, you take good care of Oreo, okay, Neo?" Tukson reminded his ex, to which she nodded "Good. Okay, see you later, you two!"

"B-Bye, daddy!" Oreonna was still a little uneasy about spending the rest of the day with her mother, but she knew it would please both her parents. She looked back up at Neo with a shaky but still thoughtfully kind smile. Neo smiled before walking back inside her home with her daughter, hoping to spend the day as best as she could.

Neo was not one for talking. She wasn't mute by any means and knew full-well the English language, but she simply liked to stay quiet most of the time. This was particularly difficult for Oreonna as she always struggled to try and understand what her mother was saying, and in those times Neo would ignore her mute path and speak to her. Still, it was rare of her to do so as she most often than not tried teaching her daughter patience.

"So... how've you been, mommy?" Oreonna awkwardly began conversation with her mother.

Neo looked down and smiled in response.

"Ah, I, um... see..." Oreonna sat down in one of the house's many surprisingly comfy chairs "So... are you and daddy ever going to, um... get back together? Y'know, be all lovey-dovey forever and stuff! I think that would be super cute and cool and-"

Neo shook her head as she took a seat as well.

"O-Oh... um, okay..." Oreonna stopped herself "...um... why, though?"

Neo looked up in slight confusion.

"Why did you two break up?" Oreonna innocently asked "I thought mommies and daddies were supposed to love each other very much, and... and... not be apart from each other. I just... I don't get it at all..."

Neo began feeling slightly bad about this.

"I... I need to use the potty..." Oreonna lied, needing a chance to break the awkwardness "I'll be right back..."

She left the living room, leaving Neo alone and feeling even more awkward than before. It wasn't easy taking care of a young child while you were divorced, that was for sure. Neo knew her daughter was lying, so carefully, she got out of her seat and followed her.

Oreonna was thinking about going to the washroom after this ordeal. She didn't feel all that good, and she didn't know why. Could it be she was homesick, or was the awkwardness of those 'conversations' with her mother doing a number on her? Whatever the case, she decided it was best to take a break and come back maybe a few minutes later.

Then something stopped her.

As she walked along the hallway to the washroom, she noticed something on a shelf she hadn't before. It was probably due to her constantly getting taller as the weeks went on, a fact she was very proud of, but whatever the reason, it was there. She took a closer look and noticed it was a picture of all things. But a picture of what? Now leaning on the shelf due to her still small size, she finally got a good look at the photograph.

"Is that... mommy and daddy?" she questioned "Why is mommy in a bed with a blue dress on? She always wears white and black... And what's she holding in her arms?" she got a closer look and gasped "A baby? But... aren't I their only baby?"

"...yes, you are," spoke a voice near Oreonna that sounded both unfamiliar yet comforting at the same time. She turned around to see that her mother had followed her. The latter smiled a bit before she took down the picture and allowed her daughter to get a much better look at it.

"Mommy? Wait... Is that me?" Oreonna curiously asked her.

"You were just the cutest when you were a baby," Neo reminisced "I remember that day like it was yesterday... Funny story, your father actually was the one screaming the most during it all."

"Like a little baby?" Oreonna giggled.

"Like a tiny, whiny little baby," Neo giggled along with her before letting out a troubling sigh "But through all that screaming and shouting on his part and even mine, we finally had you, and we couldn't have been happier. But... time goes on, and we decided it was for the better if we split apart."

Oreonna showed signs of discomfort.

"Oreo, sweetie, I..." Neo took a deep breath "...I know that it's hard living without a mommy, but just know that your daddy and I split apart to protect you. We didn't want you to, well... let's just say be discovered by some strangers I'd rather never see again."

"You broke up... to keep me safe?" is what Oreonna gathered from that.

"Yes, it was all for you, sweetie," Neo smiled, placing her arms around her daughter and hugging her "If something ever happened to you, I'm not sure I would be able to live with myself. A long time ago, I cared about nothing in this world other than listening to my boss. But then I met your father, and soon after, I met you."

"M-Mommy..." Oreonna had begun to cry a bit, hugging her mother back now "I... I love you so much, mommy..."

"And I love you, sweetie..."

"...mommy?"

"Yes?"

"I..." Oreonna began to giggle a bit through her tears "...I've never heard you talk so much ever!"

"Well, it certainly is weird hearing my own voice after such a long time," Neo laughed, finally letting go of her daughter and seeing how much she actually did cry "Oh, you poor thing! Here, let me wipe all those tears away..." she brought out a small handkerchief from her pants pocket and used it to clear away any tears that may have rolled down Oreonna's face.

"Th-Thank you, mommy..." Oreonna smiled.

"Of course, sweetie," Neo smiled back before looking over to the side "Hey, y'know what? This shelf has all of the pictures of me and your father before we had you. Would you like to take a look at it?"

"Okay, mommy," Oreonna nodded and pulled out the first book of photographs she saw "What's this one? Sorry, I can't really read it yet..."

"It says 'Neopolitan and Tukson's Wedding Day'," Neo smiled as she closed her eyes and recalled the events "Wow... I remember that day too. If I'm not mistaken, your daddy cried even harder than the day we had you."

"Really?" Oreonna giggled.

"Really," Neo couldn't help but giggle along with her "Well, open it up and let's see what's inside."

"Eww! Are you two kissing?" Oreonna just HAD to open up on that page, causing Neo to blush a bit.

"W-Well, that's what mommies and daddies do on their wedding day," Neo awkwardly chuckled "Try, um... try flipping over to the next page. I think there might be our gigantic wedding cake on that page!"

"Cake? Yay!" Oreonna smiled as she flipped to the next page.

Throughout the entire day, the two just sat there and looked through old pictures of Neo and Tukson's life together. They saw through their wedding day, Neo's pregnancy, Oreonna's first birthday and so much more. Finally, Neo finally felt the closest to her daughter than she had ever been before. Unsurprisingly, it made her happy. And she was willing to bet that it made Oreonna happy too.

She just hoped her daughter wouldn't try to pull out any... private collections.

Aww, thank you! Hey, do you have any suggestions for more one-shots?

3640194

Hmm...

...

Her dad training her. Or her first lesson on the cello(?).

3640320
Alright, certainly something to consider! Thank you! :rainbowkiss:

3640324

Also, is it a viola? I can't figure it out, and it's bothering me!

3640330
It's actually a shield. :derpytongue2: Her bow doubles as a sword as well. She would play a small tune to charge up her bow so she can easily overpower her enemy. The strings on the shield are so durable that nothing can break them, and if any tried attacking them, they would be flung away.

3640341

Oh... See my mom's a music teacher, so I know a lot of instruments. When I couldn't figure it out, I got flustered.

3640353
My guess is that it's based off of a violin or a cello. Eh, I don't know instruments, so what would I know? :rainbowlaugh:

Catgirl+mother/daughter relationship ? I died and I'm in heaven right ? :pinkiesad2:

3640620
Nope, you're still here. :rainbowlaugh: And hey, if you have any ideas for future one-shots, be sure to tell me! Also, be sure to leave a Favorite and Follow on the actual Fanfiction site over at... well... Fanfiction.

K thanks!

3640627 I'm not an expert of RWBY, so can you tell me the race of Oreonna

edit:nevermind, found it

3640769
Oreonna is half human, half faunus. Faunus are a species in the RWBY universe that are like humans, but also have animal traits as well, such as bunny ears, cat tails, wolverine claws, goat horns, etc. Because she's half human, she gets human ears as well as a more civil way of dealing with problems. However, because she's also half faunus, she gets cat ears, a cat tail, and any cat-like traits that cats may have, like playing with balls of yarn, attacking laser pointers, and loving fish.

It's too big to be a violin. Therefore, I'd have to guess that it's a viola or cello, definitely not a bass.
