Altered Visage Progress

In which I speak about general progress I've made with the overall story.

This update is more for myself than it is for my readers as I enjoy writing down my thoughts, it allows for me to look back on what I was doing and thinking in the past. If anybody is actually interested in reading about it, then have at it.

When I uploaded the first chapter of Altered Visage at the end of November, I had not written anything for it in around half a year. I had stopped at maybe a thousand words into chapter 12 and it had laid stagnant for that entire period of time. Perhaps the primary problem was that I was being distracted by other stories I had suddenly become interested in writing, though it certainly wasn't the only reason. One of the problems was that I felt dissatisfied with how I had done something in the previous chapter and it didn't feel right continuing with that dissatisfaction. I knew I was being lazy with that particular thing, but I didn't have the motivation at the time to correct it. Another issue was that, while I knew I was approaching it, I didn't know how I was actually going to end the story.

I have since corrected that particular spot where I was being lazy (and also decided to flesh out a couple of spots in earlier chapters) and finished writing chapter 12 with relative ease. I still didn't know how I was going to end the story, but a few days ago that changed when I had inspiration for an epilogue. I wrote that down and, though a few specific details were a little fuzzy, suddenly knew how I was going to get there.

In short, I've made an outline of what happens in every remaining chapter of this story. It will be 16 chapters long, plus an epilogue. I don't know if I'll have the remaining chapters written in time to maintain the once a week update schedule I am currently using, but I am confident that I will be able to write this story to completion. That'll actually be a first for me, I've never completed writing a story that was more than a few thousand words.
