As of "Bloom and Gloom" Babs Seed sadly no longer counts as a cutie mark crusader, and it seems unlikely that she will return to the group anytime soon.
So, with a new character likely joining the mane six for Season 6, perhaps the same could be done for the CMC? This list will take a look at a few candidates that could do the job.
5. Twist
This is largely just wishful thinking, since Twist's VA is no longer involved with Hasbro and DHX, and thus probably can't be used for anything besides non speaking cameos. There is always the possibility of her voice being recasted, but I sense that is not likely to happen. Still, considering many people attack Apple Bloom for supposedly not hanging out with Twist after she got her cutie mark, bringing her into the ranks of the CMC would likely shut those people up.
4. Rumble
Rumble is pretty popular amongst the fandom for the toyship of Rumbeloo, and while he hasn't had any major appearances speaking or non since his debut in "Hurricane Fluttershy", adding a colt to the CMC would hopefully go over better than Spike's treatment amongst the show staff. Seeing as Season 5 proved DHX isn't afraid of letting male characters have development, there shouldn't be any major obstacles keeping Rumble from getting screen time if he joins the CMC. Perhaps it might even give him a definitive personality, seeing as he's largely just a blank slate.
3. Silver Spoon
"Crusaders of The Lost Mark" showed that Silver Spoon's valley girl voice was all an act, and while she ultimately patched things up with Diamond Tiara in the end, I can't be the only one hoping that if we see more of reformed Diamond Tiara, we see more of Silver Spoon in a positive light as well. With "Littlest Pet Shop" wrapping up, Shanon Chan-Kent will likely only be needed by DHX as Pinkie Pie's singing voice, and the voice of Silver Spoon. So it's not like Shanon has other projects to work on, even though I like her voice work in "Littlest Pet Shop", and would love to see her get the chance to expand her voice acting roster.
2. Pipsqueak
Many people speculated that "Crusaders of The Lost Mark" was going to have Pipsqueak join the CMC, and while that ultimately turned out to be false (for now at least), I know a lot of people would be overjoyed to have him appear in more CMC episodes,and be their fourth member. Whereas Rumble would require the writers to build his character from scratch, Pipsqueak already has some defining character traits to work with. I wonder if he has plans to offer the CMC or Diamond Tiara any sort of positions within the school government, assuming there are any openings he can fill. After all, the CMC and Diamond Tiara did most of his work, all he did as president was approach the school board and get turned down. Maybe befriending the daughter of the school board president would help to win over what could stand to be a powerful enemy.
1. Diamond Tiara
You all saw this coming, didn't you? Well, seeing as reformed Diamond Tiara is insanely popular, and provides an interesting contrast to the CMC with her attitude and problems, having her be part of the group would shake things up. "The Mane Attraction" included a brief cameo in which we got to see Diamond Tiara hanging out with the CMC and the rest of the class, but everything else about her life since she turned over a new leaf has been left to speculation. There could be some episodes exploring problems Diamond Tiara has to face as a result of ponies she hurt while she was a bully. After all, if it took Sunset Shimmer an entire movie to not be defined by her past misdeeds, and Princess Luna still grapples with her guilt about Nightmare Moon, Diamond Tiara is bound to face some problems of being ineviatbly being reminded of who she used to be. And she'll need the CMC to help her overcome those problems.
And there you have it.
I'd personally put DT at the bottom of the list, and Pipsqueak at number 1.
I do really like her now, but I feel like her reformation needs to be expanded a bit before she officially joins the group.
