    So I'm watching the premiere

No, I haven't watched season 8. Yes, I am watching because Chrysalis, Tirek, and Sombra are back. Also, why was an eight year old in Tartarus, who made that decision?

    Making It Official

I haven't been active on the site for over a year. I have occasionally checked in to see how everyone was doing, but I've barely gotten any writing done here. I know I left on a hiatus last year and said I might come back to the site one day, but that's looking less likely with every passing day.

So, I'm making it official; I'm leaving.

...Any advice for an action fic? · 1:03am Dec 18th, 2015

I'm writing a new story and it's kinda heavy on action, and I wanna make sure it's good. I'm not used to writing them, but dammit, I'm gonna try. Don't know when I'll finish this story, but c'mon, I wanna at least see where this goes.

Pinkamena Diane Pie, long-time server of Equestria's military, has spent years awaiting the day that Sombra would be defeated. Time after time she watched him, avoiding their attacks and never gaining a scratch.

In the midst of battle, she decides to leave one for him to remember her by.

...This is not a shipfic, I swear. That name and my notoriety for being SombraPie trash can lead you to that conclusion, but it's not a shipfic, I swear. It's just gonna be Pinkie getting to fight with Sombra and basically them beating the crap out of each other.

IF I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO WRITE FIGHTING STORIES THAT IS... Curse me and my need to try new things I don't understand.

I'm not too terribly good at action scenes myself, but cleverpun wrote a pretty damn good blog about them if you want to check it out.

Thanks! I'll be sure to look at it!

Not that I'm an expert, but action scenes are always fun for me to write. I guess that comes from watching anime and such.

The only advice I can give, is that a fight scene should only be as long as it needs to be. If it's say, the final boss battle of a game, the scene should be long and descriptive of both the character's strength and stamina as the fight goes on. Wounds count and can change a fight all together. The terrain counts too. With Sombra, specifically, the battle field will be ever changing as he creates his crystals ever which way. One things many writers fail to see when doing action is limitations and advantages a character will have.

If I am to believe that Pinkie will be the protagonist that's going against an unmatched foe like Sombra, the story will have to be present through her senses. What she hears, smells, sees, these are all things that need to be ever present as she fights against somepony like Sombra who wouldn't hesitate to hide and attack when she's not looking. You need to show us her nervousness or fear as the fight goes on. Hoe she feels if she were to actually hurt Sombra, or how powerless she feels when she can't.

Hell, who am I to say, right? Maybe it's just the alcohol talking. (Just got off work after a rough day.) All I know is that you'll hit it out of the park with this. I love the way you write.
