Equestria Championship Wrestling...or Cage of Death 17. · 2:12am Dec 15th, 2015

So throughout my time being a brony, I have noticed that a lot of fans also enjoy wrestling. This was evident by time on Facebook, and browsing derpibooru recently. A few years ago I actually ran a MLP and WWE crossover page under the original guise of Sweetie Ziggler. During the tenure that page was active I made a lot of friends, and I still keep in contact with some of them. One of the upsides of being a wrestling fan that lives in NJ is that there is a abundance of wrestling federations in the area such as Pro Wrestling Syndicate, Jersey All Pro, Game Changer, On-Point, and various others. However, I am here to talk about a company that is a little more infamous and has been gaining a lot of steam as of late: Combat Zone Wrestling otherwise known as CZW. Some people might be familiar with CZW because of how many times it has been on Botchamania. Others might know it because Dean Ambrose came from CZW, but Dean isn't the only one who comes from CZW. Former NXT star Solomon Crowe (now back as Sami Callihan) did, and now NXT stars, Rich Swann and Biff Busick, come from CZW. Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, and Samoa Joe have had some time in CZW as well. I don't live close to where CZW currently runs from, but I make the trip with my friends to their shows, just as I did this past weekend for CZW's end of the year event: Cage of Death. While I was there they held a show called "Dojo Wars," which is an event to showcase the CZW school's talent. While my group got there late and we missed the first match, we caught the rest of the show, but during one of these matches an 80s office themed team called Business Casual came out, and I was inspired to write this short blog. They also reminded me of the joy that wrestling and MLP bring me. Both have stories that are great, can really grab you, and remind you of why you love them. So I decided that I'm going to start posting up results for CZW, and see how well it goes over.

CZW Cage of Death 17 results:

CZW Wired TV title: Lio rush def. Joey Janela (c) - New champ. Well wrestled and fun match

The AMAZING Gulaks def. the Beaver Boys - Another fun match, The AMAZING Gulaks are probably the most over team in CZW right now.

Greg Excellent def. Tony Nese - Excellent still comes out to Rick Astley and it's really weird to see a heel come out to very babyface-ish music.

George Gatton def. DJ Hyde - Gatton earned this match during Dojo Wars by winning a 20-person over the top battle royal. Good win for Gatton.

CZW World Tag Team titles: TV Ready (Blk Jeez and Pepper Parks) def. Dan Barry and Sozio (replacing Bill Carr) w/ Dick Justice (c) - New champs. I actually went to get food during this match. This was one of the few matches I really wasn't looking forward to.

Joe Gacy def. Tim Donst in an "I Quit match" after Gacy threatened to throw him off the hard-cam scaffold onto a barbed-wire chair that was on top of the announcers table. Gacy threw him off of it anyway. I came back as the match had gotten underway and it was definitely a fun and brutal match, but not as brutal as the next match.

Danny Havoc def. Rickey Shane Page in an Ultraviolent rules match - This match was unadulterated brutality at it's finest. I know most fans are into the deathmatch style, but this was a fun match and both men worked their asses off.

Sami Callihan (formerly NXT star Solomon Crowe) def. "The 104 Minute Man," "The King of Taunts," and "The Product" David Starr - A great match that went around the arena and into the crowd.

CZW World title Cage of Death match: Matt Tremont (c) def. AR Fox (pinned), Masada, and Devon Moore to retain the CZW World title. - This match was all sort of brutal and crazy with high-flying moves, high impact hits through glass, barbed wire boards, and tables. A great match to end the night and solidify Tremont as CZW champion.

Solid iPPV event all around - 8.5/10
