On Adding A Patreon Or Other Donation Link To Your Profile
I wasn't sure if adding a Patreon link, donation button, or other fundraising method was allowed on the site so I sent a message to one of the site mods, asking for advice on the matter.
This was what I got in response. I am posting this for anyone who might have the same question.
My Message: Lately, I have seen people putting donation buttons and Patreons on their user pages here on the site. Is this allowed here? Because I thought I read a rule somewhere that it wasn't. I've also seen people make journal entries asking for donations or for people to give to their Patreon.
I could have sworn there was a rule here that stated, "No affiliate links, spammy links, etc." Are donations considered the same thing? Or different?
Just to clarify, they aren't usually asking for money for pony related stuff. It is usually donations for their writing, art, animation, music projects, etc. I've seen some people do it but I am not sure whether or not that is actually something the site mods allow.

So, if the Patreon is used as a paywall, then it's not permitted.
My Message: So in other words, just as long as it is put on your page for offsite content, nothing related to the MLP brand, etc. it would be okay then? Sorry for all of the questions. I am just a bit confused by all this. And thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions.

So in case anyone was wondering, you can in fact post a link to a Patreon or other donation source on your page or journal just as long as you aren't holding it against viewing site content. I hope that this will help other people who might have the same question.
