...A terrible hissing sound, then a blackish-purple light shot through with sickly green, began to pulse and vibrate over the horn, making everyone freeze with terror. A cold power chilled the air – and their hearts. Luna came somewhat to her senses when Cadence got in front of her, shoving her back as hard as she could, lowering her head and own horn in a defensive stance between the Princess of the Night and the evil artifact. “GET BACK!” she ordered. “This is all my fault! I NEVER should have sent this, this THING ahead of us. I should have destroyed it in the Empire. I am so sorry, Luna!"
Luna, unable to tear her gaze away from what was happening, let Shinning draw her further back to safety. Celestia galloping over to stand between Twilight's friends and Sombra's horn, also readying her own pure, white horn in defense.
Cadence's hard stare at the now pulsating horn of their enemy turned suddenly into an idea. “Tia, wait!” she yelled. “Let me try - “
Before she could finish, the horn rose in the air, the black outline of a stallion growing from it, filling with shadows stolen from the corners of the palace throne room. There was no time, Cadence realized, to explain. She shot a beam of purest pink light into its heart...
