    Howdy, y’all.

I’ve been silent on FimFic for a very long time, and this blog post has been a long time coming.

    What an incredibly bizarre feeling...

I just binged the entirety of DEVILMAN Crybaby, and while the somber tones of the ending where still settling in my brain, I turned on the first episode of Cyborg 009 VS Devilman.

    Medieval Coroner Reports

On Saturday, August 9th, 1298, a candle on the wall in a small shop in Oxford fell onto the floor and ignited the straw flooring. John and Alice Trivaler, the husband and wife operators of the shop, that was also their home, rushed out of the burning building; however, no sooner than when they reached safety, to Alice's utter horror, she remembered her infant son of only four weeks was

    Huh... I was there...

I slipped and twisted my ankle during this storm and spent three depressing days snowed in a hospital. And that was when I discovered Fimfic.

Never knew it was a part of meme history.

Where did the Mouse King come from? · 1:23am Dec 1st, 2015

History time!

Everyone, sit down and listen, for I have a-- Hey!? What did I say?

Time for me to tell you all where the Mouse King and his court came from! Well, not in the spoilerly sense, no-no-no. Somebody told me recently that they thought the OC's in A Game of Kings was from a different material or something. Not true, but kind of true. Read below to find out!

The King and his court are all characters from a game I tried to make almost ten years ago, and they were the badguys! For the first game anyway. They'd be your allies in the sequel.

The game was a beat-em-up. It was you, the Shield-Bearer, against a whole army of mice. You'd face numerous baddies and menacing bosses. You could beat them to a pulp or scare them away. Yeah. There would have been a tactic to intimidate larger groups. Taunting, longer combos, avoiding hits, and successfully beating or scaring away other mice would frighten the mice more until they reached their tipping point and flee.

Well, I didn't get far into the game. I lost much of what I made. All I have left are the sprites below (minus the Shield Bearer's).

The Mouse King was the final boss, Hauteclaire, Porthos, Aquinas, Philippides, and Nezumaru were all bosses, while Marcus is based of the archer baddy, and Godiva is based on the Knight baddy.

The game may have died, but the characters lived on in my head. I thought about their story and continued to build it up in my head. Over time, more ideas and stories came to mind and weaved together with that of the Mouse King. What once started as a simple good vs bad story became a complex plot involving secret organizations, time travel, snake gods, oil barons, and a children's movie that causes World War III. And the Mouse King is right in the center of it, and he doesn't even know it.

You'll have some more glimpses of this story later. :trollestia:

After a long while, my head ran out of room for the creative juices - I had to do something creative. I had to! I felt pent up, anxious, and most of all, unsatisfied. That's when I started this story.

To everyone who has ever read my story, even if you didn't like it, your in

That's actually really fascinating. I actually came up with characters in the same way for a book I'm in the process of writing. It was initially going to be a sort of Rogue-Like RPG revolving around demons, and it actually went pretty far (the dev team was two weeks away from completing a functioning demo), but something went awry and we lost all our work, cutting the project. The characters stuck with me in my head, and I in turn began to formulate a book series that I've been working on writing for three years now. It's always interesting to learn origin stories about how content makers come up with their content. Shame your game didn't get finished, but at least we get an incredible story from it.

Yeah, some ideas never truly die. I had more than this, but lost it when my computer fried. I spent hours making these sprites in Adobe Illustrator.

Good luck on your book series!
