Sonic Rainboom X · 4:58am Nov 29th, 2015

So, the last episode was interesting.
Under the first hoof, I like time travel stories, and said time travel was far from the worst shown on television. That honor belongs to the Flash, for being illogical and worse; inconsistent. I like that there is no Dues Ex Machina this time, and the alternate futures were creative.
On the downside, this two parter had the main goal of redeeming Starlight Glimmer, and boy howdy did it fail. It goes out of its way to make her annoying and unlikable before revealing her emotionally scarring backstory, and then that same backstory is simply not enough to generate sympathy. Starlight literally sees the world die, and continues to pursue her revenge afterwords. I really hope she's better in season six, because this is something that makes me want to cave my head in.
But I'm not here to talk about that, I'm here to talk about the Rainboom. I noticed that in every version of Equestria, the Mane Six's Mark were the same. If you think about it, that makes perfect sense; if a Cutie Mark is a representation of who you are, why would that change if you simply got it at a later date? All the other changes in the episode are the kind of changes that all shows that do Time Travel do, and probably shouldn't have happened the way they happened if examined closely. My point is, if you take the time to sit down and examine exactly what the Sonic Rainboom would change, it wouldn't (or at least shouldn't have) change anything! So why not take of the restraints?
I have always been considering what exactly would happen if there was no Sonic Rainboom. At first, I wanted to use it take a "Reality Ensues" My Little Pony, but there are two separate authors who are doing everything I would have wanted to do with more skill and talent, one with the Reality Ensues part, and one with the Realistic Differences part. What little I had just sat around being useless until I realized how much fun I could have with the concept if I just went nuts. Sooooooooooooooooooooo

What if in this alternate universe... the Mane Six were super heroes?

I'm not talking about the Power Ponies, they have their own story. I specifically wanted to craft a super hero universe for the Mane Six, each with their own micro-verse tailored for them. For instance, Pinkie Pie is a Princess Celestia's student.

After investigating a mysterious release of chaos magic at a nearby rock farm, Princess Celestia discovers a filly radiating power crying as her body and surrounding shifted, turning from stone to water, aging and de-aging, altering shape as her moods changed. Celestia helped her reign in her power, and took her to Canterlot Palace too raise her as her own. Pinks and Celestia enjoy and adorable relationship, but things start to chafe after several years. Celestia is determined to protect Pinks at all costs, and Pinkie is tired of being forced to remain indoors and stay away from others. After a fight, Celestia decides to teach Pinks responsibly by having her plan the Summer Sun Celebration. Pinkie Pie is thrilled to be able to do something for a change, even if it doesn't involve using her powers. But when a threat from Equestria's past returns, can Pinks rise to the challenge?

Pinkamena is a cross between Kevin and Plastic Man. She alter the composition of her own body, into diamonds for instance, and and contort it in a variety of ways. As a foal she had the ability to extend this to other objects, but has not displayed this ability recently. It is possible she herself has placed mental blocks to limit her power, after she accidentally killed her family. Her power were given to her by Discord, though how and why remain to be determined.

Pinkemena would be the main character for this 'verse, and be the link between the other sometimes wildly different heroes. The universe would take one a format like Brave and the Bold; a series of stories pairing to heroes together and insane adventures. This would let me explore and explain how each corner of the universe works before throwing it all together. It would also (theoretically) let put a lot of variety into each characters respective franchise. For example, Applejack is noir-golden age super hero, and Fluttershy is a Kamen Rider -esque hero. Two things like that co-existing would be difficult to sell. Then again, Superman is Sci-fiction, Batman is noir ,and Wonder Woman is Fantasy and not do these three co-exist, their practically the best of friends. I've always loved the way super hero stories can take any concept and make it work, and I've always wanted to try and play with that. I'll post the rest of the Mane Six the following week, and see what people say.
