S5 Finale Reactions

TL;DR:

Notes as I made them while watching:

-Hoo boy, Uber-CMC is going to be A Thing next season. I doubt Twi would be making a fuss about it otherwise.

-Hmm. So, Sombra and the Crystal Empire are a match for Celestia and all of Equestria, to the point where they've successfully taken over half of Equestria. Sombra's a serious bad-ass, but his minions look like 3edgy5me bad OCs. (Where's Luna in all this? Did I miss her? Did Celestia send her for another time-out on the moon?)

-Prosthetic wings are a thing, and they work great. The Pies seem to have some sort of augmentations for their limbs, and Sombra's goons seem to have some sort of powered armor (or helmets at least). There is officially no reason to have crippled ponies.

-Self-levitation is a thing, and it seems to be reasonably easy. Also, obviously-lethal death rays. Unicorns are OP, plz nerf.

-NMM can turn Pegasi (at the very least) into bat-ponies / Thestrals / whatever they're called this week. That, or it's just an illusion enchantment on their armor and they don't actually exist. Have we ever seen an un-armored bat-pony?

-Eternal Night is obviously survivable. Equestria isn't a huge glacier, the trees and grass are still growing, and (based on Rarity's comments) they get tourists, so there's not just some magical life-support dome set up by NMM around the local area.

-OK, Celestia has never had a functional Plan B for any of the Villains of the Week. No Mane Six means disaster for all of Equestria. She couldn't even smack some sense into Flim and Flam, for crying out loud. All of Ponyville (at the very least) is an industrial wasteland, and she didn't even call out the local zoning board? Seriously? It's been three seasons since they took over Sweet Apple Acres. She's completely useless aside from moving the sun, and if anything happens to her, we get Fallout: Equestria.

-Wait. We're gonna say "well, she's too powerful to just exile, we're not gonna lock her in/under a rock (because that never works), so let's make her part of the new Mane Seven"? Really? We're doing this? Twi can just park her flank in that obscenity of a castle, and Starlight Glimmer and the CMC can haul their butts all over Equestria next season? (SG has cutie-mark issues. The CMC are useless with anything other than cutie-mark issues. Watch it happen.)

Neat premise, good time-travel execution, interesting AUs, craptastic ending. This is gonna suck. I hope I'm wrong.
