MLP Season Five Finale! · 12:52am Nov 29th, 2015
Okay, so after having seen the MLP season 5 finale after an arduous day at work, what did I think of it? Mmm, yeah, I think I'd call it an "okay" finale, not "amazing" but certainly "Okay". I think I'll certainly be re-watching it again in the future.
I understand the points raised in criticism of the episode and... yeah, I consider myself one of those who wasn't too big a fan on Starlight's motivation and reformation at the end, although the latter is something I've just come to expect of MLP; it's a staple that isn't going away anytime soon.
For me, what sold it was the alternate timelines where the villains have achieved victories. There's one alternate timeline in particular I was especially happy to see. Now what was that time line? Hmm, oooh, darn my bad memory, what was it?
...
Oh yeah!
QUEEN CHRYSALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!! CHRYSALIS CHRYSALIS CHRYSSIE CHRYSSIE QUEENIE CHRYSSIE!
Guys, if you know me, then you'll know I cannot beging to tell you how much I loved that timeline. I mean, sure she's appeared a number of times in the comics, but it's so good to see the best villain in MLP return to the show. So that alone has earned this finale extra points from me.
Oh, and by the way, did the Chrysalis timeline remind you of a certain cartoon?
Plus, Chrysalis doesn't seem to be a bad ruler.
Let's think, what would ANY sane ruler do upon finding out about a hostile resistance movement? Find them, offer them peace, then attack only if there's no other option.
Let's see...
-Found the resistance
-offered to leave the rest in peace if Zecora came without a fight
-engaged with the hostiles after they attacked first
Plus, we don't see how she actually rules Equestria. for all we know, the rebels were just imagining the worst

That is certainly to her credit.
Honestly, I just really, REALLY wanna see or even write a fic where changelings are actually EVIL for once like they're supposed to, where they're not woobified victims of pony oppression. Hell, this setup allows us the perfect opportunity to have changelings actually be the monsters they were created to be: here, they now rule Equestria under Chrysalis' brutal, military apartheid regime. They can abuse and mistreat ponies all they want. Not saying it's right, but after all the "poor changeling" fics, it'd certainly give some balance.
Hey, you know, if you ever felt like working together on something, know I'm certainly open to it.
Heh heh, yeah, I guess it's more how in this world she pretty much has won and has driven the pony rebellion into the wilderness.

Given her track record and personality, I think it's safe to say she was lying.
I dunno about that mate. When you look at the way she was presented here, and what happened to Timbucktu and the Cat Lands and what she was planning to do to Canterlot in the Wedding episodes, I can safely say it's a nightmare for ponykind.
3576001 *shrug* possibly, depends on how canon you personally consider the comics. The show really just leaves it open to interpretation, so we the fans can have fun with it!

Yeah, there's an unending plethora of changeling fanfiction that goes out of its way to sanctify the changelings and make the ponies look as utterly repugnant as possible so the former look all the better for standing against them. I mean, sure, I could go for Always Chaotic Evil changelings because that's at least how they were meant to come across as, though sure, I'm all for not ALL of them being evil too. It's just the Woobie changelings depiction that just gets under my skin so much.
Hmm, alright, I shall.
while Changelings timeline is nice to see while more interested in the Sombra timeline because of cutieless Sombra they show. Also if you don't know Queen Chrysalis don't got got an echo in her voice which I made a headcannon that she was possess by something in Canterlot wedding.
