Daughter of Discord the Audio Drama: A Screwy Beginning Review by Missy and Swirlstar the Debreab

Missy: Hello DF fans and Fluttercord fans alike! The day has finally come! That’s right, I’m talking about…DAUGHTER OF DISCORD AUDIO DRAMA!XD That’s right, I’ve decided to add Daughter of Discord episode reviews to my list of reviews to do. And to kick off this special occasion, I’m going to collab review with a friend of mine who’s even a bigger fan of the series. Please welcome the smallest and fluffiest Debreab around, Swirlstar!

(Missy grabs hold of Swirlstar’s neck and hugs her tightly) Swirly: Ah! Missy! Missy!
Missy: Oh oops, (Missy releases Swirly from her grip), sorry about that. It’s just…you’re sooooo small:3

Swirly: I’m not that small you know.

Missy: Eh, potato tomato.
*Swirly chuckles at Missy’s joke*
Missy: Anywho! Why don’t you start off the review since you’re the guest

Swirly: Well first off…

Ignoring my inner fangirl, I actually have some stuff to say about this episode.
I did, indeed, enjoy it a lot. The beginning, however...let's just say that I DESPISE any form of verbal storytelling in films(Ik this isn't a film but still). So that means exposition and narration are my WORST enemies, much like jump-scares, shock value, and yes: the dreaded slapstick comedy.
*Shivers*

Missy: I saw the exposition as…(in a big announcer’s voice) ”Hurry! Hurry! Read DF’s fanfics today! Read one and you get three off for half the price! Step right up folks! I repeat, this is subtle advertisment!”

Swirly: Anyway. These forms of storytelling, though they can be very efficient and entertaining, almost always feel forced and like the creator couldn't be bothered to think of anything better. It's a very overused form of storytelling, one that I have seen far too much of. I do not like it, which is why I was very bored during the first part of this episode.
...Apart from when the chaos started to happen, i.e. when the babies arrived. Fluttershy was perfectly nonchalant and Soarin and Rainbow are now my favorite couple as parents. Y'know, besides the obvious.

Missy: Hehe, well despite me not shipping Rainbow and Soarin, out of all the parent and baby scenes it was their scenes with the twins and Prism that I actually enjoyed the most. Maybe it was because their’s was the funniest or just the whole chaos of their household that pretty much sums up the chaos in big households. Or maybe it was because I actually enjoy the characters Lighting and Thunder. In the fanfics, I never really paid any attention to them. But I think, because of their voices and how well the actors play off each other that I learned to appreciate their characters even more. Plus, I have a real soft spot for twins:3

Swirly: Oh, and that scene where Pinkie yells "well easy for you to say: you don't have kids or a significant other!" Perfect, DF. Absolutely perfect

Missy: Bwhaha lol definitely the funniest part of the entire episode! Truly it’s fourth wall breaking at it’s finest.

Swirly: As for the little section of playground chats that came before the chaos began felt…really off to me...but I love Screwy's voice, so it was fine /)^w^(\

Missy: To me, Screwy has the cutest voice in the entire series:3 With Dinky as the close runner up in that category of course;) And then Screwy was the cutest baby pony I’ve ever seenXD! And Dinky was second cutest baby along with her <3 In other words, Screwy and Dinky are my favorites in the series so far:D

Swirly: Speaking of Dinky, when she fell in the mud...and Screwy started to get angry...oh man that was the best! I-I mean...bad Screwy! Bad, bad Screwy!*Bops Screwy on the head with a newspaper, but then gives in and hugs her* Seriously, though. That scene was absolutely terrifying I'm glad it was Nstone doing the art :3

Missy: Haha lol I feel ya girl, I deeply enjoy this scene as wellNot because Gold Digger and Silver Tray were receiving karma right in the face, but because how hilariously chaotic Screwy was. It reminded me of a kid Discord running amuck on the playground and I loved itXD Screwy’s lines were delivered perfectly, it was better than what was depicted in the fanfic, and Nstone did a great job bringing that whole scene to life.

Swirly: Which reminds me: I had a fun game of playing 'guess the artist' with my brony friend. I won And, and -- oh man, when Fluttershy slapped Filthy Rich, that was priceless! Absolutely pri --...I'm becoming Discord...

Missy: Oh man, there was so many great new artists that I couldn’t decide which one is my favorite yet. Hopefully the next episode will help me with that. As Fluttershy slapping Filthy Rich, I thought it was funny that the scene included a cartoonish and spelled out “Slap” scene before showing Flutters getting mad at Filthy Rich afterwards.

Swirly: And then the feels came. The feels, they killed me. Screwy was just...a-and Fluttershy was so...*whimpers* And then at Sugarcube Corner we had the TriPies to cheer us up, and then...and then...*Flaps hands around frantically* She's doing it! I think DF's doing the Lighting x Aquafresh thing! It's gonna be implied, at the very least, I hope!

Missy: Haha lol oh boy, you and your ships;)

Swirly: And DF is properly emphasizing the fact that Aquafresh was terrified of Screwy. Me likey :3 Overall, it was brilliant. The art was much better, the voice acting was awesome and the emotions were perfectly executed...The only thing it's lacking is Mothy, really

Missy: Tehee you and your little Mothy-poo;) As for my overall assessment, I deeply enjoyed this episode with all my heart:D <3 The art was marvelous, the voice acting simply fabulous, the background music was so spectacular (awesome job truesailorcomet!), and it was just overall great to see this sequel come to life before my eyes. Some of my other favorite scenes were just when Discord was just being overall adorable obsessed Daddy when Screwy is a baby and just that whole ending scene with him and Flutters and their talk. However, for me, what was lacking was that some of my favorite scenes from the original fanfic was taken out. I know that scenes had to be taken out for the sake of time, but I felt like some of my favorite scenes could have helped with the story flow in this episode. For example, my favorite scene from the original fanfic was when Discord and Fluttershy were in bed together after being married for a couple of months. It was just so adorable yet sweet and it helps frame for the upcoming scene where Fluttershy finds out, in a hilarious way, that she’s pregnant. And then, I love that scene where Discord is helping out a farmer pony with his powers and he soon finds out that Fluttershy is pregnant. I feel like all these scenes together would have served as a better intro than the intro we received in the episode. Anyway, I give this episode a strong nine hearts out of ten Thank you so much Swirly for reviewing this episode with me:D

Swirly: Yeah, I agree. The crazy food combos in the fanfic were the best, and also don't forget the "it'll only cost...YOUR SOUL" scene with Discord and that earth pony XD And it's been awesome reviewing this with you. Thanks!*Hugs!*
