SPOILERS AHEAD: So, I started watching Jessica Jones, and I'm not happy. · 9:16pm Nov 20th, 2015
Spoilers for the first three episodes of Jessica Jones under the cut.
So, I'm three episodes into Netflix's next Marvel series, Jessica Jones.
It is a disaster.
From the strange, discombobulated direction, to the confused writing, to a supporting cast that seems to be confused, Jessica Jones is striving to be a darker and gritter counterpart to the wildly successful Daredevil show, but in the processes, stumbles over itself and spirals into exploitation, tackiness, and at times, unintentional hilarity.
Let it be known that Krysten Ritter is doing an amazing job as Jessica Jones, who, despite the awful screenwriting, is still a likable character. I don't hate her, but I hate the story that she's given. David Tennant is also really good as Kilgrave, but the rest of the cast is a disaster.
Jones' relationship with Luke Cage is a mess. The duo share no chemistry, and are apparently only focused on having as much sex as they can. In one episode, there is a total of THREE graphic sex scenes, and more often then not, every single one of their conversations, regardless of context or location, will end up with the two aggressively fucking each other. It's base and disgusting, as it fills the show with an unnecessary level of sexual content that really has no business being here.
Carrie Ann Moss is pointless as Jones' lesbian lawyer friend who is having an affair with her foxy secretary. The funny thing is, is that the character was a straight white male in the comics, and here, changing the character's gender and sexual orientation seems to be a rather misguided attempt to give the Marvel universe more 'diversity'.
The show is also classless, with much of the adult content seemingly only there for shock value, and it's main plot seems to be driven by the characters acting quite foolish.
So, three episodes in, and Jessica Jones has given me little reason to feel invested or to look forward to future episodes. But I'll finish it anyways, if only so that I can make a fully informed assessment.
I'm a little further ahead than you are, and by and large I think the series is fine... just fine, not good but not godawful either.
Really, Jessica vs. Kilgrave carries it for me. I am mostly ambivalent about everyone else (save Luke Cage- I don't care much for the relationship, but he is getting his own series eventually and I do want to learn more), but seeing the cat-and-mouse between Jessica and Kilgrave is enough to keep me somewhat engaged.
Everything else you said... yeah, I can see that. It hasn't hooked me the same way Daredevil did, but hey, only place left to go is up, right?
Since Tennant is now playing a Marvel villain and Eccleston played a Marvel villain, it's now time for Smith, who is the #BestDoctor, to play a Marvel villain. My money is on either Maximus The Mad or Mephisto. The Riddler in DC. Or maybe he'll be the new Mr Fantastic. And Peter Capaldi as The Watcher ot The Wizard

WRONG!
I have brought my pickaxe and I am ready to dig
3556514 Well, not all of us can be optimists
It's understandable if you're having a bad time understanding this series, but let me ask you this:
Have you ever read the Jessica Jones Alias series ?
If so, then you would have known that partly how the comics played itself as the live action series is.

Look, I understand what you're trying to say here, but really, an adaptation of anything, be it a comic book, a movie, a musical or a book, it should still be able to be understood and enjoyable on it's own as it's own film/tv series/what have you.
I never read a single page of Daredevil before watching the show, and yet I understood what was going on perfectly, and it made me eager to dig up some Daredevil comics, and go read them. And that was from just the first two episodes.
I'm five episodes into Jessica Jones, and so far, I understand little of what's going on character/plot wise, and I have absolutely no desire to read more Jessica Jones comics, if they're going to be this base, debauched and disgusting as this show so far has been.
The simple fact is that an adaptation of a previously published material should not have to rely on the audience having an encyclopedic knowledge of the source material. Rather, it should be able to stand on it's own, and be enjoyable as a film/tv series, even if the audience has never heard of the original work, whatever that work may be.
And if the actual Alias comics are like this TV Show in content and story telling techniques, then I have no desire to read a single page.

Again it's understandable. Besides the only reason I'm into the Jessica Jones series is because it's a lead on into Luke Cage and that's a series I cannot wait to see.
3557067 Luke Cage isn't likable or charismatic at all here.
He actually goes about, sleeping with random women, and when Jessica asks him why he has a problem with sleeping with married women, he says "I don't sleep with married ladies because I don't like the drama", which just makes him look like a selfish jerk.

That maybe true, but here's hoping they'll fix it in time for the upcoming Netflix series.
It's slow, but I don't think it that bad. Then again, I am a sucker for the Detective/Neo Noir genre despite the needless sex. Plus I really give a plus how much I love Tennant as Kilgrave and how I REALLY hated this prick since that Marvel Team-up annual.
Also think Colter as Luke is just perfect. He dosent sound like the typical black stereotype. He was just smooth. Hopefully I see more development with him and Jessica in his own show. So I can see if the MCU can marry them off. And so it'd be more satisfying seeing this. Plus besides, they had nothing in common during the books, yet slowly knowing each other, they are now currently the only stable couple in the MU.

There's a typo in your post. I think you meant to say the 11th is #BestDoctor.
