Here we go. Another blog post not attached to a story. Will anyone read it? Don't know. All I know is it needs to be written.
So I've started "Sonata Dusk Eats A Burrito" in earnest. As is typical for me, nothing is clicking. As much as Sunset might be the introspective type (I argue she is, so there), Sonata is definitely NOT. On the other hand, the whole point of a "Burrito" story is to have 1000+ words of internal rambling. I can certainly imagine and justify Sonata being a bit more reflective after losing her powers and her "sisters" and having to live on her own. She's also a ditz, so she could be more prone to mental tangents that fit the "Burrito" style. I'm just gonna go at it over the next few days and see what happens.
Even if it's a POV-flip, I don't want it to be a total repeat of Sunset's story, and I hope I'm able to differentiate their characters enough in their thoughts that they don't come off like twins. Unfortunately, having to actually consider these things may hurt the quality. I already worry that my writing style is too clinical and academic (years of uni does that to you). It doesn't help that I feel Sunset's "Burrito" story is as close to "perfect" as I can get right now – following up on my best work might lead to disappointment on my readers' parts. I'll try my best anyway though.
