Fifty for Firefly! · 9:43pm Nov 6th, 2015
Before the Storm: The Rise of Firefly notched its 50th like last night and is still pitching a shutout. Had a couple good spurts of new readership of late, and it seems to finally be gaining some traction. I thought about marking the occasion with something fifty-related, but what is there with fifty in it other than Fifty Shades of Grey? XP
Well, by coincidence, this is my 50th blog, so I guess that's covered.
I think one reason for the increased interest aside from some judicious advertising is I've been tweaking the story a lot of late and trying to incorporate reader feedback. The intro to the prologue was changed to something more appropriate on the good advice of a recent reader, and I also heavily expanded the training sequence of Part 4 in recent days to make clear that Firefly is very much a product of Windshear's training, showing exactly how he taught her to fight and win against larger groups. Give it a second look at some point.
More tweaks will be coming, and don't be surprised if I re-release earlier chapters that had no comments at some point if major enough changes or additions are made. I think the start of the story is still a little weak, and will be trying to correct that. As for new chapters... it's currently second in line to be written. I have to hit The Lawyer and the Unicorn first on my regular story rotation. That particular story is only two chapters plus an epilogue from completion, and I may decide to knock it out completely before coming back to Firefly.
Firefly is not forgotten, and I will definitely be getting a new chapter or two for her out in time for Hearth's Warming... which, by the way, is the setting of the next chapter as our heroine tries to come to terms with what happened. Some surprises and surprise guests ahead, and you'll see the actual Gryphon military for the first time... in a rather unexpected way.
I claim credit for some of the new readers... You still need more.
I am fairly certain that your story got added to the Read It Later pile after a blog by AJ Aficionado mentioned it. It languished there until Denim_Blue plugged it again in an authors note and I remembered it was already on my list. A quick bump to the queue later and yep.
3525887 You read one of my blogs? For some reason, that's incredible to me. Why were you following such a newbie writer as myself who only barely knows what he's doing? I've seen your favorites, their all written by ubers.
I wholeheartedly back this approach. Congrats on 50 likes, sensei!

Don't sell yourself short. As to how, A Gentleman's Price caught my eye and after reading it I did what I always do, check out the author page. Since you didn't have an overly high blog count I skimmed through those as well.
Maybe when those new tags go in and the flower ponies have individual tags you'll get a surge of interest.
3526791 I greatly look forward to adding a Blossomforth tag to The Scent of Prey.
Glad to hear you liked A Gentleman's Price. It had a very slow climb and I do wish it had done better. Classiest thing I ever, and probably will ever, write.
