Friendship is Card Games: Mane Event

So, as I have come to understand, the main G5 IDW line has been replaced by/subsumed into a series of mini-series and one-shots that feels like the equivalent of a network trying to kill a show by bouncing it around the schedule. Hopefully I’m being paranoid there.

    Rumor Gathering

While diminished from its peak, the Writeoff is still very much an ongoing concern. Regrettably, while I actually had an idea for the most recent prompt, my Saturdays are packed to the gills and thus I didn't have time to compose it before the submission deadline. As such, I have employed Dueling

Friendship is Card Games: Wondercolts Forever: The Diary of Celestia and Luna

The next entry on the schedule was issues #21 and 22 of the G5 mainline, but those have failed to manifest, making me wonder if that line’s actually been ended in favor of the various mini-series currently in progress. And among them, I only have one released issue unaccounted for. As such, it’s time to turn to the next pony novel… which does not contain ponies.

    Incident of Examination

There's a Crystal Prep-themed Sunset shipping contest on at the moment, and one castoff idea I had got me wondering about Sunset attending CPA... and running against a logical issue. At least I got

Friendship is Card Games: Tell Your Tale, Season 2, Part 2

Looks like that Leap Day hypothesis carried some weight. The long-form episodes should be interesting in their own right, but we’re not looking at one this week. Let’s see what there is to see.

Thought Dissection 2: The Next Specimen · 12:31pm Nov 3rd, 2015

With Oversaturation finished, it's time to move on to my next project. One problem: I have quite a few potential next projects. As such, once again, I'm taking a public opinion poll on where you'd like me to focus. The list, with working titles, is as follows:

Appellation Mountains: The Great and Honorable Spike the Brave and Glorious is invited to the first Crystal Ball in more than a millennium. Twilight prepares herself for hearing a grandiose name for much of the evening. She's not entirely wrong.

Anything and Everything: The Cutie Mark Crusaders try to make paella and nearly destroy Equestria.

The Flu Blues: What happened to Rarity and Applejack after Discord infected them with a fictitious disease?

A Fragile Shell: The tragedy of Señor Huevos, a humble sock of Doodleburg.

Go Froghemoths!: Canterlot High and Ravnica High are the biggest rivals in Hassenfeld County. The upcoming soccer match is sure to make sparks fly, especially after the events of the Fall Formal a few weeks ago.

Ine-Flash-Tic Collision: Twilight Sparkle walks into Flash Sentry again, for the first time. Ditzy Doo tries to help him understand what happens afterwards.

Iron Burden: Iron Will is called back across the Saddlantic to the kingdom of Minos, where he must face the obligations he tried to escape.

One Last Job: Rocky's a Diamond Dog whose mouth and paws get him out of slightly more trouble than they get him into. He forms part of the world's greatest crime syndicate, as do Madame le Flour, a griffin expatriate from the Prench Alps; Lintsalot, a disgraced knight of Avalamb; and the genius donkey known only as Mr. Turnip. Their mysterious Boss has come personally to direct their final caper.

Ponies' Verses: Ungula story. A record of planeswalker activity in Equestria before the Mending, recorded in iambic tetrameter by Princess Prudence XXXVII.

Time and Yuletide: At Discord's prompting, Twilight probes into the history behind Hearth's Warming. The deeper she goes, the more questions she raises...

Time Enough for Friendship: As Twilight explores her new palace, she meets a very unexpected guest. Star Swirl the Bearded is sitting in her throne, and has a confession to make.

Good gravy man, that's quite a selection.
I'm a sucker for anything with a heavy amounts of multiverse madness...so that narrows down the selection a bit.
Pre mending Ungula seems quite interesting, and the potential for extra narration/coverage by a certain walker.

The Worm crossover sounds interesting. Aside from that

.The Flu Blues: What happened to Rarity and Applejack after Discord infected them with a fictitious disease?

would also be good

I nice selection of options :pinkiehappy:

Where to vote...

Hmmm.

Got to go with Appellation Mountains.

Go Froghemoths! seems the most interesting to me, if only for the inter-brand shenanigans and your personal take on the city-plane-turned-high-school.
Ponies' Verses rates pretty highly as well, probably because I'm intrigued by the rhyming style you intend to enforce with it.
Time Enough for Friendship is also pretty interesting, possibly due to a (at least on my part) perceived lack of fics with Star Swirl the Bearded in a starring role.

I am, of course, always for more Star Swirl the Bearded fics. But dang, there's a lot of good ones to choose from here. I particularly like Appellation Mountains (damn you for that pun you incredible bastard) and One Last Job.

I'm intrigued by the teaser of the Star Swirl story.

For some reason, I always read grandiose as "grandoise" the first time. It's quite baffling.

I think my favorites, in descending order of interest, are as follows:
Go Froghemoths!
Ponies' Verses
One Last Job is really close with Ine-Flash-Tic Collision
Time Enough for Friendship

A vote for Appellation Mountains! :D I remember that one.

Secondary vote for Ine-Flash-Tic Collision, with an exhortation to fix dat title, yeesh D:

'One Last Job' gets my vote.
Heist/Crime/Gangster stories are awesome.

More Star Swirl would be nice, so Time Enough for Friendship gets my top vote.

Any sort of second vote would go to Ine-Flash-Tic Collision since that looks like some sort of time-loop story and I really enjoy time-loop stories.

None of them really rang as a Worm crossover to me, maybe One Last Job, but I have to squint pretty hard to match that up to Worm.

Though I would like to see FOME do a Worm crossover of sometype.

Ok, so this isn't one of the above, but I just had a great idea. What if you had Tamiyo show up on Ungula and immediately fall head-over-heels for Princess Luna?

One Last Job
Ponies' Verses
Time Enough for Friendship
Appellation Mountains
Anything and Everything

Man, these all look pretty good.
I'd have to say either Go Froghemoths or Ponies' Verses.
It's a close tie.

These are all so tempting, but I'll just pick 3.

Appellation Mountains
Go Froghemoths!
Time Enough for Friendship

So, any chance that a rewrite of Phthisis is Magic is on the horizon?

Either One Last Job or Time and Yuletide.

Go, Froghemoths, simply for the chance of seeing Principal Mizzet.

Anything and Everything.

All of these are incredibly appealing, but "Go Froghemoths!" and "Ponies' Verses" are tied for first, with "Iron Burden" and "Time and Yuletide" coming close behind in second and third, respectively.

I remember Appellation Mountains from the Writeoffs. Question: is it on the project list because it needs to be polished, or because you have major expansion plans? That might affect my voting, if you can do a quick turnaround on it and knock one off the list.

Personally, I'm most interested by the Iron Will one.

It's going to be more of a polish job than a complete reworking.

In ranked order then (first place first):
The polish-job one
The poetry one
The Heinlein one
The heist one

aka: Appellation Mountains, Ponies' Verses, Time Enough For Friendship, One Last Job

Ine-Flash-Tic actually sounds intriguing. I am not wholly certain what it is supposed to be about, but I think I want to find out.

3518359 Well, an inelastic collision is one in which the colliding bodies do not simply bounce apart with kinetic energy conserved, but rather experience internal friction that converts some of the motion to heat.
3517811 With multiple Twilights Sparkle, "again, for the first time" does not require time travel to make sense.

I REALLY want to see your take on Pony Flash/the mirror to Friendship Games Twilight being incredibly confused by this overly friendly dork from nowhere, but I admit I may be biased in this regard.

After that, I'd like to see Time and Yuletide, Iron Burder, and Apellation Mountains. I'd also like to see the Froghemoths... eventually.

1. Time Enough for Friendship
1. Ponies' Verses:
1. Time and Yuletide
1. Ine-Flash-Tic Collision

2. Anything and Everything

3. Appellation Mountains ('Cause I read the Write-off one, and if you polished it, I'd read it again, but I want to read something I haven't read. It's pretty good, though!)

Does Cadence's magic taste like Rose Quartz as a Steven Universe Reference? What do other magics taste like?

1. One Last Job
2. Time For Friendship
3. Anything And Everything

Also, are you going to continue My Little Praetor? *excited puppy dog eyes*

I just read the Ravnica High link and I have to say, Go Frohemoths!

Time Enough For Friendship
Appellation Mountains

Anything and Yuletide: At Discord's prompting, the Cutie Mark Crusaders probe into the history behind Hearth's Warming. The deeper they go, the closer they come to making paella.

The Flu Collision: What happens to Flash Sentry when he's infected with a fictitious Twilight Sparkle twice? Ditzy Doo tries to help him understand what didn't happen the first time.

Time Enough for One Last Job: As Twilight explores her new palace, she meets a very unexpected group. Rocky the Diamond Dog, whose mouth and paws get him out of slightly more trouble than they get him into; Madame le Flour, a griffin expatriate from the Prench Alps; Lintsalot, a disgraced knight of Avalamb; and the genius donkey known only as Mr. Turnip. Together with their mysterious Boss, Starswirl the Bearded, they form the world's greatest space-and-time crime syndicate. They're here because Twilight stole their castle.

This is fantastic and I CONSIDER YOU ADMIRABLE IN A PURELY PLATONIC SENSE. That being said, you may be suffering from a mild case of Writeoff Overload.

3525096
I'LL CONSIDER YOU ADMIRABLE IN A PURELY PLATONIC SENSE any day of the week. :pinkiehappy:

And I don't have Writeoff Overload because I don't participate in the writeoff! I just lurk a bit. Semi-often. I might eventually see a prompt for a minific that I'll manage to write something for. Maybe. :applejackunsure:

3525163
:unsuresweetie: Er. Right. Sorry about that. Let us never speak of it again.

3525164
You realize, of course, that we need to not only expunge this from our memories, but also retro-edit the past so this incident never occurred in the first place.

Already took care of my end. Whatever it is you're talking about.
