I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year! 
Why is that a surprise? Because the story I'll be working on is Memoirs of a Magic Earth Pony! I'll effectively be doubling the word count in a month if I can do it. That means Memoirs may have a new update schedule come December.
According to math, I will be writing around 2000 words per day every day for the next month. I'll have about 50-60 thousand total just from November alone. If I stay on the current schedule, I'll be set for the next 20 to 30 weeks worth of releases. That's awesome for me because I could drop back and just not write for next semester and pick it up during summer. However, I'm concerned because memoirs is already 50,000 words long and the first act of the story is projected to be about 70,000 words.
Yes, I said act. There are 6 of them in the story. Now there are two methods I've taken to extrapolate how long this story will be by completion. I'd personally not like to bump over 300,000 words simply because that's an insane amount for readers to look over. This story is awesome to write and I know some of you think it's equally awesome to read, but that's a lot of story to sift through on both of our parts. So, I present you with MATH!

Assumption: each act will be approximately 70,000 words long
If this is the case, and I have 6 acts to the entire story itself, I will be looking at a 420,000 word story on completion. Now, this could be problematic for viewership due to it's size. 420,000 words is massive, like scraping Lord of the Rings massive (which clocks in at 480,000). Sheer size is one issue, but there is another problem here: updates. If I continue my current update schedule (2K every friday), I will be finished releasing 420,000 words sometime in July of 2019. I cannot fathom how anyone would be willing to continue reading this story for nearly 4 more years. That is absolutely monumental and I'm a sophomore in college. I'd be starting my career and still writing this story I started late frehsman year. That's an absolutely incredible amount of time and writing. So... Something will have to change to accelerate my release schedule in order to keep this story within the confines of next year.
So... Let's look at:

Assumption: Story is written according to equations of perceived time dilation.
This situation is a little more friendly. According to my calculations (Summation from n=1 to 6 of 70,000/n for those who are interested. It's the basic equation of the way we perceive time as we age), the story will be approximately 160,000 words at completion, with the final act being just under 6,000 words long. That means that Memoirs will be completed, using the current release schedule, just under a year. Now with that, the story will progress more as a bildungsroman and less as a linear story. Time acceleration seems more appropriate for how this story is written and it will keep it more digestible for you guys.
TL;DR: The story is massive, but not impossibly so. I plan to be finished some time in 2016.
